Bucket Of Rubbish
Have had no actual problems with it or using it . The unit blew, sucked and shredded leaves with ease and operating it was easy ..... and the four stroke motor was brilliant ...... Was brilliant . I always changed the oil when required and only used top quality oil and service parts but after only 6 months of domestic use the engine completely let go . It blew white smoke that much it set the smoke alarms off inside the house !!! I knew the motor had self destructed so went back to buntings and they tried to sort the warranty through Makita. Bu...Read more
nnings were awesome but makita refused to honour the warranty saying i abused the machine although i was very careful to not thrash or overload it . Shame on Makita never touching their rubbish ever again !!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great reliable unit.
I've owned mine about a year now. It has been very reliable, starting first or second pull every time. Very frugal with petrol, very quiet and has a great output. Didn't get the vacuum attachment so can't comment on that. Only minus is that it's a bit fiddly to change the oil...and that needs to be done regularly. (Edit: I've found that the motor doesn't like stale fuel. Clogs up the carby. Using fresh fuel and cleaning the plugs plus adding a little carby cleaner solved the problem.)
Reliable. Quiet. Powerful.
Difficult to change oil.

Follow-up: Flooding problem solved. Bad fuel clogged carby. Sprayed carby cleaner down throat and all was well again.
If yours runs and then stops, check the black fuel supply line to the carb... Read more
y. It perishes and you need to chop the split end off and reconnect it. This could be a weak spot...and might need replacing. Otherwise..still a reliable unit.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Huge disappointment
I've owned mine for 22 months. I was attracted by the 4-stroke feature and the Makita brand, which I had thought was solid. Four months after the 12-month warranty expired, the starter cover assembly fell off (repair cost: $110 incl. labour). Six months later, it fell off again. Same story. I realize that for this price you cannot necessarily expect a top quality build, but I don't expect Makita products to be as plasticky and flimsy as this (it's only been used in a domestic, not commercial, setting). Clearly they have gone down the quality curve to achieve a lower price point, but they've slid too far. I'd rather pay up for a Stihl, and intend to do so.

Makita BHX2500 leaf blower
Just bought this from Bunnings. Great product. Lightweight, starts on first attempt, powerful and not too noisy. Though it is more expensive compared to some others, I think it is worth paying for a quality product and save yourself a lot of unnecessary frustration if your bought a lemon. Would certainly recommend this if you are in the market for a leaf blower.

Perfect Blower MAKITA BHX2500
Excellent Blower, the Makita BHX2500 is rugged, reliable easy to start first cord pull starts it every-time. No noisy smoky 2 stroke oil mixing.
Outstanding performance even better grass clipping cleanup off concrete when wet i.e. raining. Haven't used the vacuum attachment yet as it is only really designed for dust and light duty leaves. It can feel a little heavy after a whole day's use. The cruise control switch is a brilliant feature. Brilliant blower nozzle design allows for greater control of the blown air when sweeping confined areas li...Read more

Excellent
I bought this blower 4 months ago and still amzed by the ease of start, the cord is so light and the engine starts every time, much easier than the Honda mower, and mind you, the Honda is one of the best mower, engine wise. It is also light, well balanced and quiet, quieter than the Stilh. I would not hesitate to recommend this blower to home owners, even to pro gardeners.
Nicely made, looks smart, extremely easy to start and very well priced even Made in Japan.

Follow-up: I've had mine quite while now and I've got the oil change down to a fine art. Only takes about 10 minutes. It's flooding regularly now, so I may have got a bad batch of fuel or the air filter is clogged. Otherwise, it's been great.
