I want to buy micro maxi for my 5yr old daughter. She rides her old scooter to school now. Just wondering if she can ride the maxi scooter on the footpath too as the surface is bit more rough than the cycling track in parks and elsewhere

Hi, My grandchildren rode their maxi scooters on gravel but they couldn't go as fast - depending on the gravel, it could be very slow. They also rode on our local footpaths which sometimes are not as smooth as could be. To be absolutely sure please go to the Micro Scooter website https://www.microscooters.com.au and ask the question. He may suggest one type of Micro Scooter over another. My four grandchildren LOVED their maxi scooters - One is 18 so she doesn't use her two wheeler very much, however, her younger brother or his friend use it while he or the friend use the Maxi. Hope this helps.

Hi Megs,
The Maxi Micro is a very robust and durable scooter that is built to last.
It can be ridden on a variety of surfaces, however as Grandmama stated in her response the different surfaces can affect the speeds at which you can travel.
The wheels of the Maxi Micro and all of our other scooters are made from high quality Italian sourced polyurethane (PU) which help absorb any lumps and bumps you may ride over to help create a smooth a ride as possible.

I see the ages are for 5-12yo.
Our almost 3yo is already 103cm tall would he be tall enough for this scooter or should we go for the mini??
Thanks!!

Hi Tabitha,

We recommend those ages as a guide - if your child is already a bit of a speed demon, and a bit taller, than go right ahead with the Maxi. If their balance isn't quite there yet, then you may want to look at the Mini Micro.

Thanks - Sean

My son is 3 in April and around 100cm, so he's tall for his age. Should we just get the most maxi micro instead of the mini? Please help!! We are looking for Christmas. Thank you in advance!

I think you should probably get a micro maxi rather than mini. I have 3 boys (9, 7 and 3). The older 2 have maxis and my little one (3 1/2)- who is not very tall, has a mini- he loves it but uses his older brother's maxis as well. It probably also depends on if you have other children or if you can hand down the mini to anyone? (As your son progresses to a maxi). If you are in that situation you could get a mini and he could use it for probably about a year before progressing to the maxi- then hand the mini down. I think most kids by 4 years would have outgrown the mini, particularly as your son is tall. I am sure he will love the scooter- can't get mine off them (even in the house!)

Just measured my littlest one (I had no idea!). 3 1/2 year old is 100 cm so same height as your Son.

Hi. Will the child seat fit on the maxi (vs micro)? I have a 16 mth old just starting to walk but given both scooters start at the same height I can't see any obvious benefit in purchasing a micro. My now 6 yr old never had a seat but did just fine on the maxi (vs micro from age 2). Cheers

Hi there,

The Mini Micro Seat is designed to fit specifically the Mini so will not attach to the Maxi. It is designed for children from about 18 months to help them get onto the Mini Micro where as the Maxi Micro Scooter is designed for children 5 and over. Let me know if you have any further questions at [email protected].

Kind regards,

Hi, wondering whether to buy a maxi micro, a micro kickboard original or a 2 wheeler for our 3yo boy. He is tall already over 20kg has good balance and ability on his current 3 wheeler (not micro) cruising over low jumps easily and handling decline confers well when street riding. Don't want to push him to far by getting a 2 wheeler if a better 3 will challenge enough. Any ideas, experience?

I'm sorry but I've not purchased the micro kick board or micro 2 wheeler, I've only purchased the micro maxi 3 wheel scooters. I do recommend these, my now 4 and 3/4 year and 2 1/2 year old girls love. The 2 1/2 year old is particularly crazy with no fear on it and is also a keen bike rider with trainers. I find the scooter safer.

My nephew is about to turn 4 in February 2014. He is on the taller side for someone of his age. I would like to purchase a scooter for him this christmas however I can't decide whether the mini micro scooter or the maxi micro scooter would be more suitable? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

B., we have both. My boy is almost 3 but a bit of a giant. I also have an 8 year old. Both of them use and like the mini micro. None of us like using the maxi micro - the steering doesn't seem to work as well. The adjustable handlebar height would be an advantage for sure, but our experience of the maxi micro isn't as positive as the smaller one. Cheers, Bruce.

We have both. My son handed his mini micro over to our daughter when he turned 5. He's on the tall side too and loves the maxi micro. You also have to consider the weight recommendations. Minis take up to 20 kg and the maxi takes up to 50 kg. We decided on the latter so our son could get good use out of it. He loves it, but he loved the mini too. I think the maxi suits him though, as it's a bit more robust and suits his size. He looks a little big on the mini.

Definitely the Maxi as he will be able to use it until he's 12ish. The mini will only last for another year - max! Unless you have a younger sibling to pass the Mini down to.
