I love my Mazda 6 hatchback
I had wanted one since 2010 when considering my next car, being single female. When I found one in 2013, silver, hatchback low kms, I purchased day before starting new job. I live in rural location so do drive 40kms each way to work. Has just clicked over 140,000 however in 2014 it wasn't driven much as I cared for my mother with terminal illness who has since passed. Still love my Mazda 6, love hatchback and I am thinking of upgrading only because our rural roads are in poor state and I'm considering a mid size SUV for this reason only. Only r...Read more
egularly service and tyres, I appreciate it is a little thirsty but it is zippy and safe, so that doesn't concern me. I would recommend this model and it will have to be a great SUV to get me out of it!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent car inside and outside
My 2nd Mazda. Had a Mazda 3 for 8 years with no problems.
Had a 2013 Mazda 6 GT wagon since February and delighted with it so far. Design is as good as any in its class. Build quality inside and outside is excellent.
The GT are shod with 225 45 R19 which are quite pricey. Had to replace at 50,000km.
I am quite tall and my wife much shorter so the two memory seat adjustments work very well for us.
Bose sound system is really nice and the Bluetooth function works well too.
Handling is superb, especially in hilly terrain.

2017 Update: Very nice hi spec car I have the GT model. Only minor disappointment is the 19 wheels, which pick up every bump in the road and the tyres are very expensive being a non- standard size.

very good car
The car is VERY quiet. Handles very good, although it has 17inch wheels. Plenty of power when needed and going along the hwy uses about 5 litres of fuel per 100kms. Like the auto wipers, lights and mirror. The lights follow the direction of the steering wheel.
Bad things: very expensive to change the oil. The 10 liter container will cost around $140. The radio has no volume that adjust to speed of the vehicle.

No problems so far
So far so good. Haven't had any major problems as I do an enormous amount of driving. A couple of other cars I have owned haven't been able to keep up the pace but this little beauty seems to handle well, which in my line of work is always a blessing.

Love hate relationship
Purchased this car second hand, and it did everything i wanted it to. It just didn't do anything well.
Love the look, love the premium feel & all the features, plus very safe and advanced safety features for the year model.
We did have a few issues, that were all rectified quickly by the company. The keyless entry system needed maintenance, the front door subwoofers needed replacing, fuel average was higher than it said it was, even driving like a grandma, but still much better than petrol equivalent. Road noise is my main complaint though and i don't understand when people say interior room is huge..its tiny!
Despite the growing list of flaws i found in this car, i still love it.

2016 Mazda 6 Touring - Not a bad car but....
I traded my 2001 Millenia (Eunos 800) for this then the Mazda 6. Not a bad car - it's the same size as the Millenia so no complaints about room etc. The ride is not quite as luxurious but I'm getting used to it. My one and only real complaint is the infotainment/GPS system.
1. The system can and will reboot at any given moment. This of course can be rather annoying if your using the GPS.
2. Music will not resume playing after ending a phone call.
3. The GPS will attempt to announce a direction and fade the music to the left side of th...Read more

Best Car Ever
I am driving a Mazda 6 2010 model, we recently thought about upgrading to the newest model but found our vehicle to be just as good, still looks like new and drives fantastic it is very comfortable has plenty of room and is very quiet. We have had the car for almost 5 years and it has never once let us down I would highly recommend Mazda to anyone Their Service department is great also.

Very good except for ...
I also have a Mazda MX5, so the Mazda 6 was intended to be a practical vehicle more than a fun car. It is generally driven conservatively but responds well when pushed and handles surprisingly well. I particularly like the electronic gadgetry. Lane departure warning, Blind Spot monitoring, Radar Cruise Control etc which make highway cruising a delight. It is comfortable, well laid out and draws very favourable comments from people who ride in it. Fuel economy is better than my MX5 and a lower grade of fuel also helps reduce running costs.

t has only done approx 24000 kms but they have been trouble free. I have two complaints. One is that the TomTom GPS does not have live traffic updates. The salesman misled me on this point. If I had known it, I would not have bought the vehicle. And the dealer (Hornsby Mazda) is annoying because they continually try to arrange service months before it is due and the 'Next Service' window sticker shows the service is due 2-3 months less than Mazda recommend. In summary, the vehicle has been very good but the purchase and service experience has not.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

PUSH BUTTON IGNITION MAZDAS WITH PUSH BUTTON IGNITION
Tow truck drivers have reported a high level of failure with the push button start ignition switch.
Some tow truck drivers have reported they have had numerous call outs to to pick up these cars .
Owners have been stranded due to the push button ignition failing to start the car.
The inconvenience and towing expenses are a bad refection on this new ignition system.

A SUPERB VEHICLE
I replaced (just ten days ago) my 2013 Mazda 6 Touring with the most up to date 2017 Mazda 6 Touring. The changes to the new vehicle are excellent and the car is a dream to drive. Even though my 2013 vehicle had only done 41,500km without any problems I was keen to update to this latest model. The added safety features are more than a bonus. Reversing camera is definitely sharper than my previous one. The sound system has definitely improved. Leather seats are comfortable for both driver and passengers. I have owned Mazda 626 and various Mazda 6 since 1982 and nothing would induce me to change to another brand as I believe Mazda produces an excellent car which would be hard to beat in this price range.

Amazing Car
I bought this car in 2008, I loved it from the day I picked it up. I recently replaced this car, but owned it for 8 years, and did about 160,000km in it. I owned it from 76,000 km to 240,000 km. This car made me realise how much I enjoyed a spirited drive along a curvy road. So nimble and agile. It went around corners like it was on rails. Was so much fun to drive. On one occasion, I went for a drive across the Alpine national park, from Bright, up Mount Hotham, across to Dinner Plain to Omeo, from there to Falls Creek, Mount Beauty and back to...Read more
Bright. Did this following a friend in an XR8 Ute, and was able to keep up with him all day, he had the extra power out of the corners, but I could accelerate longer, break later, and carry more speed through the corners. Was a very fun day. It's just at home on the freeway as it is in the mountains. The entire time I owned this car, it never stood me up. Up to 200,000 km, only requiring routine maintenance, and a few small things here and there. At 200,000 km service, I did need to get the A/C regassed, and a few suspension components needed replacement, which I put down to the way I drive, and the mileage on the vehicle. Interior was functional and comfortable. Plenty of room in the drivers seat for my 6'4" body. Very comfortable on a Long drive, which I did quite a few of in the time I owned it. The sound system was OK, but I felt it needed upgrading. A couple of small detractors for this car. It had a tendency to wear out tyres, I would get about 30,000km to a set of tyres, some of that is probably due to how I drive. Also, it was a bit less fuel efficient than I was expecting, getting average of 8.5-9 L/100km, although, with careful, efficient driving, I was able to get that down to 7.5. The 4 speed auto could have been better, when slowing down to corner, out of the corner it would often not grab the gear you wanted, requiring a second change when the accelerator is pushed. For general driving, I got used to it and drove accordingly. For a spirited drive through the mountains, I would always use it in manual mode, giving me total control of gear selection. All in all, this was a great car and I loved it. When I sold it, there was a couple of minor issues with it, including creaking ball joints in the suspension and the interior display was showing erratic characters. Basically, I was about ready for a new car, so these issues, while not major, were the catalyst for me to replace it. I loved the car so much, the a newer Mazda 6 was my first choice when I did go shopping, and I ended up getting a 2013 Mazda 6 Touring to replace it.Similar opinion? Very reliable family car
I bought the car in Jan 2007 when it was about 1 year old and with about 10000 km on it . It was used as a Mazda company demo.
It's handling very well and running very smooth better than my other car which is a 3 years old compact SUV in terms of driving experience.
We use it mainly for suburb driving like going to the train station, shops and school. Now after 10 years, it only has 73k kilometers on it. I get it serviced according to the book. The service cost is just like any other average car if you go to a local mechanic. Apart from oil,...Read more

Great Car
Purchased in Jun 2009 with 53,000ks. Has just turned over 275,000km. The perfect sized car for me. It goes well - it`s "sweet spot" is actually above the 110kph limit - and it loves the curves - surefooted over even poor quality country roads. Steering has great feel although you do get torque steer under some conditions. Comfortable over long distances and will swallow a lot of gear. The fold down seats go perfectly flat for a huge load area. Plenty of room and I like the glassy cabin, great for vision everywhere except D pillar. Even after ne...Read more
arly 8 years I still often take "the long way home" with this car. Road noise is an issue over 100kph, as are rattles from the tailgate and rear seats (but this car has seen a lot of work). Interior good but the leather seats are only partial leather, and the front driver`s seat has split, as has the gearshift boot. Very reliable overall - I`ve replaced CV joint boots, rear shocks a few years back and recently had to replace fuel pump and a driveshaft. Got nearly 150,000km out of pads and discs and tyres an easy 80,000km. Battery lasted 6 years. Servicing costs OK but parts can be exxy. External trim items are now not available or really exxy (door window moulds are flimsy and harden and chip, look terrible). Paint is now starting to fail which is a good innings for a car that has rarely seen a garage. Gearshift was average and I had learnt to live with it - but as part of the recent driveshaft replacement by a non-Mazda mechanic, they topped up the gear oil. Must be different to OEM as it shifts sweetly now...clutch has been shuddery from new under some conditions and the pressure plate is weak when changing gears under rapid acceleration, although in normal driving it`s fine. Sychros are fine, a/c is good though takes a while to cool the car on a hot day after being parked. Engine mounts probably due, as are front shocks and rod ends. Beware of the low profile tyres and soft rims on country roads - I have killed tyres and rims on potholes - I have increased tyre size to 225/45 R 17 and they look better and correct the huge speedo error. I can still get 7.2lt/100ks on a highway trip, fully loaded with a/c on. Bose stereo from 2003 doesn`t accept bluetooth etc unless you are handy with a soldering iron, and radio reception is average - it`s probably my biggest annoyance with the car as a whole!1 comment

A car for people who love driving!
Wow! When I got behind the wheel of the Mazda 6 turbo diesel it was an instantaneous bonding moment! This car takes off fast with 420nm of torque coming on at 2000rpm through a dual phase turbo. The Mazda 6 had continually won awards as the best sedan in Australia for the price, so that is why I chose to take it for a test drive, not once but 3 times! I found that the petrol version was sluggish and stodgy, but not so the diesel!
The car has a lot of power, it is very smooth on the road, its handling on winding roads is amazing and fun, its ...Read more
fuel economy is great and the car is a pleasure to drive. Having previously driven a Falcon and a Commodore on the same routes, I am getting over twice as good fuel economy in the Mazda, whilst driving for fun, not fuel economy! On the highways, the car wants to go fast. I believe that 130km per hour is what the car really wants to sit on, but unfortunately that is a bit too high for our road laws. I have had 5 good sized adults in the car several times and the car is quite roomy. The boot is huge. The GPS is great, the Bose sound system with 11 speakers is outstanding, the front, rear, blind spot and rear collision sensors are excellent. The instrument panel and the lay out of the leather interior is outstanding. The only criticism is that on certain road surfaces the tyres are a bit noisy. But for me this car is heads and shoulders above the pack and the best car for my needs. I enjoy driving it every day and am ecstatic that I purchased it! It was the many positive reviews from owners of recent Mazda 6's and the great car site reviews, that got me to look at the Mazda 6 in the first place. My quest was to find the best car to drive under $40,000 and I certainly found it!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good driving but bad entertainment/GPS system - it doesn't work properly don't buy
I just bought a Mazda 6 GT for 3 months and I regret it. I bought a brand new car and have paid a lot of money for it. Driving performance so far been good. Mazda’s interior is really nice and I can't complaint, however since week 1 I have problem with the Entertainment/GPS (MZD system). Sometimes the clock don't work it stays as 00:00 and do not move. Sometimes the Bluetooth doesn't work, it doesn't import contact list, can't dial out, sometime the Bluetooth drop off completely while you in a middle of a conversation hence no phone calls c...Read more
an be made. The radio stops working and start working whenever it likes, hence you end up with no music at all. The GPS lady sometime talk to you and sometimes don't, obviously most of the time it doesn't work. I do understand when there's a problem and people are willing to help you fix the problem but the dealership in "Max Kirwan Mazda Preston" is really bad. The service department is not willing to help you at all. I explain to them the problem of my new car and I believe being a brand new car and being their customer they should be there to help me out in regards to getting me a courtesy car with Mazda Head Office but nope, they clearly say it has nothing to do with them if I want a courtesy car while they trying to rectify and fix the problem I have to deal with head office myself. I have never had to dealt with the head office when it’s to do with warranty issue (my previous car was a BMW), the dealership deals with head office on your behalf and that’s how it should be. I'm very disappointed with Mazda as I know this is a wide issue and they are well aware that their entertainment/GPS system doesn't work properly. They should recall their products and shouldn't be putting it into new cars until they can test that it does work perfectly. I spoke to their representative and they try to blame on the iphone how they can't accommodate the new software that iphone come out all the time. They did a software re-install for me at the 1000km service but it still doesn't work. I left a few messages with the Mazda head office and up until now no one have call me back. Very very disappointed I will never buy a Mazda again as I now have to battle to try and get this fix for my brand new car. This is a daily problem for me right now. I do believe that if you buy a new product regardless of the value it should work properly or else money back please.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Beautiful to drive, luxurious comfortable car!
We have recently returned from a cross country adventure from Melbourne to Perth with our recently purchased Mazda 6, this car doesn't miss a beat, if it could it would drive itself. It is very comfortable, the engineering allows the driver to sit comfortably without feeling fatigued. I drove a minimum of 12 hours each day, and got out at the end feeling refreshed, with no aches or pains. The power also designed into this car means there is no effort in overtaking large road vehicles. Fuel economy is exceptional on average 835 klm to the tank...Read more

A sleek, well-designed car, but not the most fuel efficient or the best ride quality
The Mazda 6 reminds one of a sporty, luxe car, but at a fraction of the cost of an actual luxury car. I can't praise the designers of the car enough; it's just so sleek, both on the inside and outside. It is one of the more visually appealing cars on the road, and I often find myself gazing at other Mazda 6's on the road as they pass by, because they really do catch your attention. The seats (heated at the front, may I add) are leather with red stitching, which is what gives it it's sporty vibe, as well as has a hand-stitched leather steering w...Read more
heel. The leather on the steering wheel is actually so smooth that it could be an issue for some people due to the lack of grip, but it isn't really a big deal in reality, and shouldn't be what prevents you from buying this car. The i-stop function is one of the characteristics that sets this car apart from others; when enabled, anytime the driver is at a traffic light or intersection, the car's engine automatically switches off, and restarts within a second whenever the driver wants to move again. This function operates so smoothly in action; it's like the engine hums back to life, and it all happens in just a second. The engine, when it is running, is very quiet, and handling is very smooth and responsive; nothing out of the ordinary there. There is plenty of legroom, the seats can be adjusted via levers which slide the seats up and down, forward and backward, for you. We have had no issues with this car whatsoever, and we drive it twice a day or more every day of the week, which speaks for itself in terms of reliability, and we've had this car since 2013. It isn't the perfect car, however; the ride is not the best. It can be quite bumpy, especially for those in the backseat, and fuel efficiency is nothing to write home about. Especially in the summer when the AC is often turned on, you really have to watch out because the fuel tank will run down fast. Overall, this is an excellent quality car by Mazda, and this is represented in the price; at the end of the day, you pay for what you get.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A great car
I have a 2013 Mazda 6 Atenza wagon and just updated my wife's car with a 2017 P series Mazda 6 GT sedan. The difference in both comfort and NVH levels is outstanding right down to the double glazing of the side front windows in an effort top reduce noise. A much better car to drive with better comfort. Mazda Connect works well and the overall finish of the vehicle is excellent. Would highly recommend as a premium vehicle.

Great car.
Waited for the 2017 version. Well worth the wait. Similar to drive to the Honda but way better. Unfair to compare an older car to a new one but. Like the safety features, ride, drive, space, performance, fuel consumption, voice control, paintwork which glistens in the sun, leather interior. Heaps more. What can I say this is a great car.

My Mazda 6 hatch GH, 2010 luxury sports model, (sunroof, leather seats, navigation system etc) passenger side dash has just recently started "melting" after being parked in the sun (Brisbane QLD) for a few hours over several days. This car is garaged every night, when at head office it is parked under shade sails or totally undercover. It has 96000 km on the clock. Not a lot of Kilometers as I have another older Mazda 626 that I use for a lot of other tasks, such as parking at bus stations, etc. Is Mazda Australia replacing these obviously faulty dash's? Mine is under ten years old and in America they accepted the fault and extended the warranty to ten years for the dash. I see the Mazda 3 also has the same problem as well. Seen footage where Current Affairs in New Zealand got involved for a owner who was ignored from the start and the issue was resolved free of charge, after their involvement. I had the previous Mazda 6 Hatch 2006, model GG from new and never had an issue with it. Only sold it last year, 2022. If they are not willing to fix it I doubt I will buy another new Mazda. Will they replace it? It should be done free of charge.
Update, went to Mazda Mt Gravatt (QLD) today (28/01/2020) and they are going to fit a new passenger side dash on Friday (31/01/2020). That is the section of dash that is affected, in three days time at no charge. Excellent response, Zoom, Zoom Mazda.
