For this money, best avoided.
W5943; unravels thread on shirts and blouses, pills cloths, creates loose ends on jumpers and wind cheaters, wears holes in delicate and dose not filter water well which leads to smelly clothes.

Amazing - converted from top to front loader
We have been using this Miele front loader for approx. 3 years. I was not in the market for a washing machine, however when I was talking to the Miele rep (about purchasing a dishwasher), she spoke of the benefits of a front loader. We were currently using a top loader Fischer and Paykel.
We purchased the machine when it was discounted. I purchased from the Miele seconds shop, got a fabulous price (half price) and the machine came with the full warranty.
I absolutely love this machine. So so quiet! The machine is right next to our kitch...Read more

Mr Miele is listening!
This is to Carwoola Kiwi.
I believe you are dimissing the poor performance on your machine to your own user error. The majority of front loader's express programmes are not for full loads. Miele has the 'short' option which allows you to shorten all programmes to around 40 minutes retaining full capacity of the programme in question. You can open the door during the programme by simply waiting for the drum to stop turning and pressing the 'door' button, this is explained in the instruction manual.
Of course if you are washing heavily soil...Read more
ed laundry you must select the appropriate cycle/options to achieve the desired result. Since you are on rain water which is incredibly soft, it is not uncommon for the need of an extra rinse as detergent is more difficult to rinse than harder water.

I am very disappointed :-(
At the time of purchasing in 2011 this model was the top of the range and considerable more than the model below. I bought it to replace an 8kg LG which did a fabulous job for 8 years before developing a fault too costly to repair. I thought I could live with the load limit of 7.5kg as a trade off against the other features I liked such as the light, and the %age of load dictating amount of detergent. What was not explained to me at point of sale is that on the express setting it will only take 3.5kg. I bought this frontloader because we are ...Read more
totally reliant on rainwater to supply the house with water and did not want a water hungry top loader. However I have to do so many loads I am using much more water than I thought I would anyway. I use good quality detergent and a warm setting suitable for fabric type and degree of soiling and either the clothes do not come out clean or I need another rinse as the detergent is still in the clothes. The only way to get the clothes cleaner is to wash them on a full length cotton cycle, and add in an extra rinse. We live on a farm and my husband is a tradesman and we have two teenage boys that get pretty grubby. Our working clothes are actually dirty as opposed to our clothes needing just a freshen up in nice smelling detergent suds. But the biggest disappointment of them all is that, despite being assured otherwise by the salesman, you cannot pause the load to open the door. Incredibly frustrating! You can stop it, drain it, open the door then start again, but you cannot interrupt it. This machine has taken us back to the very reasons people chose top loaders over front loaders 20 years ago! I hope you are listening Mr Miele. The light. The disparity between cost and the result of washing.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic
We bought this washer on the strength of our Miele dishwasher purchase and have not regretted the decision. Our previous machine (LG) was bought on the recommendation of a friend and was not a good choice.
The Miele is both water and power efficient, has a wonderful range of programmes and is beautifully quiet - most important since the laundry is next to our youngest child's bedroom. The previous machine could not be on at night on any wash - the Miele can do a full wash with 1600 spin and not disturb the child!

onderfully gentle on everything, having the machine tell you how much detergent to use avoids wasting chemicals and the 1600 max. spin speed means the clothes are dry in no time. The countdown to programme end time (calculated once the water level has been determined - it's clever) is also a blessing and the quarter hour intervals for setting the start timer are just right. It also has a decent capacity and will even tell you how much of each fabric type you can put in (based on selected programme). Miele's installation service was excellent and, when we later reported that the door was vibrating on high spin, they happily came out, checked the door and re-sited the machine - problem solved, customer service as it should be. If I had to criticise it... I'd like a quieter option on the end-of-programme beeper (Off, Normal or Loud) or for it to just beep once and not repeat every minute, but it is such a minor criticism as to be nothing (given that the LG used beep like a siren every time you touched a button!!). We could turn the beep off but it's a useful feature. Very quiet, gentle on clothes, efficient, doesn't waste chemicals, plenty of programmesSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It is a keeper !
My first review was day after the purchace and I gave it 4 stars because of my wife comments after the first use. It comes that after she learned how to use it she is very happy with the machine. Initially she was not impressed with towel stiffness and the washing efficiency, She learned to use OMO liquid detergent and more water. Still has to try add fabric softener. For the washing efficiency she had to learn to use pre wash and soaking. In our old ASKO she would use plenty of detergent extra 3 rinces and 3 more rinces after. This was very co...Read more
stly on water and power. My wife is very fussy and usually takes 6 month to make a choice of such important appliance. I could not imagine being without washing machine for 6 month !! Miele 30 days money back guarantee was a solver to my problem. On the first day we have few stiff towels because we did not know how to use the water efficient machine. Now the 30 days is up and wee keep it. 30 days money back, no stress in decision making Water efficiency needs more attention to powder dosage or use liquidSimilar opinion? Love It!
The machine performs superbly, we have set the finish program audible chime so we know to remove washing, it is so quiet in operation. No lint problems on washing, Very gentle on clothes and excellent clean results. This front loader is 7.5kg capacity but we find that we do not fill it to capacity most of the time. When you turn power on the LED light above inside door lights and remains on, illuminating wash drum while loading and extinguishes a couple of minutes after wash cycle begins. It illuminates upon door opening at completion of cycle ...Read more
to assist unloading of washing from drum. This model uses fuzzy logic to determine weight of load / water requirements during wash and detergent dose recommendations for load to achieve its water and power efficiency ratings and provide optimal washing outcomes. The greatest expense associated with laundry is typically the detergent used and this machine uses tiny amounts compared to our old top loader. The build is very solid ( a sales rep opened door and used door to attempt to lift weight of machine at retailer, without any buckling of door or hinges, (try that on competitors machines if you're game), In operation the washer doesn't seem to experience any wash or spin, out of balance issues, stalling on errors during program or walking across gently sloped tiled laundry floor due to imbalance / vibration issues. I feel the machine is optimized for apartment lifestyle whereby a compatible dryer is used in combination and the high (1600rpm) spin speed reduces moisture load in washing before loading into dryer and thus reducing the drying time and tending to reduce any wrinkling of the clothes or stiffness of towels which results at low water high spin wash program selections. Most of our wash is done using auto plus program for combination load, and as our washing is line dried in sunlight my wife feels her drip dry shirts wrinkle up. I select extra water for a deeper rinse sometimes on very soiled work clothes but have found my favorite is the denim cycle which is a shorter wash and lower spin out results in slightly damper washed clothes but as they are being hung out to dry anyway they dry with less wrinkles and the towels are not hard to the touch upon drying.Purchased for A$3,000.00.

7 years and still going no problems.
It has coped with large family loads and lots of them, without any problems. I bought it to save water, and it nearly halved our water bill:) Its so quiet I've had to set the buzzer to let me know when it's finished.
5 years on and still no problems at all.
Never had any problems.Great low water usage. Very quiet.

Best of the best
Wow! Bought one of these after a terrible saga which us talked into a Daewoo front loader and ended up with our house almost on fire. Was so sick and fed up with the unknown that I decided to go from the cheap to the Rolls Royce in one foul swoop. Any regrets? .. you bet! I should never have looked at other brands.
As is to be expected, there is not only a world of difference in price between this any any other machine on the market, but also a vast difference in quality and performance.
These machines are truly in a league of their own....Read more
German engineered and made, the features are plentiful and extremely well thought out. Just about every aspect is presented beautifully. Certain functions such as the drum light and the load weight indicator are simply not found on other brands, but there's also simpler things such as deciding when the machine should finish (i.e. you decide the time you want to hang your laundry and the machine sorts out the rest). Sure its only a simple difference but it is so much more intuitive than just putting in a delayed start like you would have to do with any other machine. Its just one example of the many aspects which you at first don't even notice in the shops or reviews. The washer performs without flaw, is a joy to use and produces stunning results with whisper quiet efficiency. Direct drive models these days are all fairly quiet but this is just stunning. From a distance of a few meters you question whether the machine is still running, it is that silent throughout all phases. From the user guide materials that never leave you guessing, to the 1600 RPM spin, there is really nothing to fault on this latest top of the line offering from the market leader. If you have the dollars, then go and get one because you certainly wouldn't find any better. Load weight indicator; LED drum lighting; Intuitive interface; 1600 RPM spin; Energy & water efficiency. A top of the line price to match its top of the line standingSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Have just purchased the 8kg washer, and asked the salesperson as to what detergent is the best to use omo powder or omo liquid? He said powder as the liquid would drain through, so I went and brought powder as I always had used liquid ( gave my liquid away) Have been reading reviews and information only to read you can use liquid! I'm confused, could you please tell me which one to use or can I use both and what brand is the better to use. Regards Kim
1 answer
The liquids are fine to use, we use a colour/black wash liquid, Cold Power for cold wash items and Miele's own white wash for whites. It really doesn't matter which, use whatever suits your personal needs, liquid/powder, sensitive skin, etc., since the washer is so good. Just make sure to let it tell you how much to use and use that amount, we always under dose on towels as there is always some suds come from them. Enjoy your machine.

How many years could I expect to get out of a Mielle front load washing machine? There is normally only two of us living here.

Ask Miele but considering they give 10 years warranty in UK.. I expect at least 10 but hopefully 15. My last machine was ASKO and lasted 12 years.
I've had mine 4 years and I've never had a problem, I use it every day and my kids who have left home, still come home to use my washing machine. I have friends who have had their miele for 10 years+ and have not had any problems.

My Miele WP5943 washing machine is saying 'Remove Transport Bar' ?
What does it mean? As anticipated, delivery man has no knowledge of the machine. Miele refuse to send installer, and refund my $25?Now what to do? I bought a floor stock over $2000, not for free, would appreciate some assistance. Thanks

In the back of the machine, they place bars in to stop the drum from moving around when it is in transport. The instruction manual should explain how to remove the bars and you should have been supplied with certain tools to help with their removal. I suggest if you are unsure about doing this yourself, getting a washing machine repairer would be your best option, they can also make sure the machine is adjusted and is totally level before you use it.
