One of the modern collectible cars
Evo IX is one of the meanest, fastest, most capable cars you can buy, with the power and agility to embarrass exotic cars twice (or thrice) its price. It's not for novices; if you light a fire under the Evo's cauldron, you'd better know what to do when it boils. But skilled hands can play it like a Baldwin Grand.
I had 07 Liberty STi and 02 WRX STi before (As I'm a dead fan of Subarus) but this beast will absolutely kill them all. I got 07 Evo IX as a birthday gift from my wife and I have to say it is the best gift ever. Its been close to a...Read more
month and I love every minute with it. I love corners and roundabouts (especially in Canberra) and with Evo they are my playgrounds. This is the best car I have ever owned, It was owned by a 40yrs+ old car enthusiast well well well looked after and he had spent a lot of money on it (servicing and maintaining) very very minor mods making just 230kwaw. I use it daily for commuting to work and I feel suspension is not too bad because I came STi so I'm used to it. My wife owns a Civic Type R which is not too bad on handling but its suspension is a bit more stiffer and harder than Evo. But on road Evo shows its full talent. The Evo has only one real competitor: The Subaru WRX STi. The STi is a bit more civil (Please don't quote me), but I've known it to do some nasty things at its handling limits with little warning. The Evo may be rude, but at least it's predictable. And the Evo's choice of models (versus the STi's one) allows buyers to choose the best ride/handling balance for their needs. Conclusion: The Lancer Evolution IX is one of the most talented track cars that can legally roam the streets.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Lancer LE 2005 - Economic but...
Ok, this is actually my missus' car but I have been driving it lately because it's cheaper to run than my Audi A4 V6 Wagon.
I know I can't possibly compare both cars but having had previously driven manual Subarus I feel that the Lancer is just way too clunky to drive. The gear box is not consistent and it has a lot of trouble handling speed changes, specially between 2nd and 3rd gear. The clutch takes a lot of getting used to because it's really hard to find the biting point. You can't go past 20 to 30km/h on 1st gear without the engine revv...Read more

VR-X 2005 AWESOME
I purchased my VRX Lancer in silver brand new and loved it from day one. I love the sporty gear stick shorter between gears. I loved the interior and most other cars at that stage had greys and I wanted a black slick interior which it has and the room is deceiving that there is plenty of room. As a mum now I can even fit a pram in the boot! Air conditioner was great nice and cold or hot easy to use. The engine has never skipped a beat and I have only had to replace the battery. The fuel costs are low I can travel a lot without having to pay a l...Read more
ot in fuel. CD player and speakers are great quality. Things about having the VRX is that insurance, tyres and batteries are extra and it's classified as a sports car but I loved the look of the VRX model as it's sporty and appealed to me. It is a timeless car as it still looks great and hasn't aged as other competitors styles have from 2005. The look and fuel comsumptionSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good first car or runabout.
This car is easy to drive, compact and sporty looking, which makes it an ideal first car or daily driver. Maintenance, insurance and petrol costs are low, which add to it's appeal for younger drivers. The seats are comfortable enough, and the equipment levels are adequate, if not a little sparse. These cars are common, so finding parts or aftermarket modifications are easy.
However, the engine, even in the range-topping "MR" models, betray it's sporting looks and makes hills a bit of a struggle. Safety is also an issue, as the car is very light and does not have ABS, traction control, or airbags as factory standard.
Reliable, inexpensive, fuel efficient, low insurance, good looks
Questionable safety, not enough power

Finally got my dream car
I just bought my 2005 Evolution 8. It had 70,000 miles one owner. I love it!!! I put $2000 worth of mods and tune included have 300awhp. I run 12.7 in the 1/4 mile at 104 mph. I'm running on 20 pounds of boost. I love my Evolution 8.

My ES Manual 2006 lancer is still going after I've clocked over 100,000 kms on. No motor issues. Gearbox is still going, clutch is fantastic considering how I drive it (I learned to drive manual in this Lancer, and I have not been the nicest person to the clutch).
Nothing has needed replacing in the 4 years of owning the car. Fuel economy is great. I have changed the head unit in the car (I put the one in my previous car due to attachment issues) which is so much more better than other cars and their "iPod connectivity". I'm glad I purchased ...Read more

We own the 2005 ES model, it's our family car and we have had it for almost 2 years and couldn't be happier.
It is a really reliable car and runs really well. I was advised by a mechanic that Lancers are one of the most reliable cars on the market and we have never regretted making this purchase, it's also really comfortable and easy to drive. Would highly recommend this car to anyone especially as a family car.
Reliable. Runs well. Fuel efficient. Comfortable.

We have had 6 years of trouble free motoring with this car. We love the convenience of a station wagon. We are a family of five with three boys in ages from 14 to 6 and we all fit into this car comfortable. The back seats are just as comfortable as the front seats. I would recommend this car to others.
My husband is tall and I am quite short and it suits both of us. I love how the blind for the back part has it is own compartment when it is not in use. It was also one of the very few cars that had lap/sash belts throughout the car. We have own this since new and only replaced the clutch after it had done over 170,000km. Other than that it has only being the run of the mill tyres and light globes.

Fantastic car. Was looking for a wagon that would be able to fit the dogs in the back as well as two baby seats, and it does this with ease. I find that the engine is a real little ripper, handles mild gravel/dirt no probs when going out for a ride, and a full suspension MTB fits in the back no probs. Cruise control and 2x airbags a bonus. Chuck on a towbar and it pulls a trailer no probs, and takes as many bikes as you can fit!!!

This car is the best small car I have ever had, awesome performance, smart styling, room to move, handles well, fits in small areas (had Ford Falcon and Commodore station wagons, for 1 extra suit case, stick with the car thats cheap to run and fun). If I could have it put in my grave I would.
Purchased car as runout with new model sitting next to it on sales floor (funny), looks were appealing, size, comfort, and 2.4 engine size!!! Never test drove, I'm 6 foot 2 and had leg room, thats why I bought it. From a standing start it shits all over th...Read more

Still love driving it after 6 years
I bought this car in 2006 as the 2nd owner with 80,000kms on the clock, the 1st owner had put a body kit, low profile tyres, exhaust, rims and lowered it a bit. It looks and sounds great and still is a head turner to this day. Since owning the car I have driven the car a lot (205,000Kms) and never had any major problems. Whether long journeys (drove to Bris-Syd in 12 hours numerous times), daily highway driving to work or running about around town, this car has been great fun to drive, it is very zippy in lower gears. I would recommend this car...Read more
to anyone starting out to drive as it is reliable, cheap to run and fun to drive without having too much power. The only downside is it isn't very comfortable (probably more to do with tyres and being lowered) but I don't mind because it is so much fun to drive. Reliable, fuel efficient, fun to drive, looks great, easy to mod. Uncomfortable on long journeys.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Overall this car is a pleasure to drive. It's quick and it's very easy to drive. It does not take very long to get used to driving this car. It is small enough that it is easy to park but still is roomy inside. I do like the safety features such as the airbags but its ANCAP ratings isn't as good as some of the other cars on the market. The visibility in the car is good too, the pillars don't obstruct the view too much. Overall I find this car is a pleasure to drive, but it does not come with that many bells and whistles.
Easy to drive, has enough power to get around the city, Is pretty roomy
Could use a console cover, perhaps could use less fuel.

Mivec engine is powerful and gives the car some good zip. ES doesn't have fold down back seats-wish I knew that when we bought it which is a real pain as you can't transport things that are larger than the boot size
Mivec engine, sleek exterior and interior, affordable
ES doesn't have fold down back seats-wish I knew that when we bought it :( Boot space is a bit small. Need to comes with mags and spoiler as standard

Great little car, don't let the gearbox thing scare you off. It's just one of those things. Yes I would buy another.
We have the 06' LS model. It has everything we need, climate control, 6 stacker 6 speaker stereo, woodgrain dash inserts (black), very comfy, acceleration from the 2.4 mivec engine is great, semi auto gearbox.
At 88.000 k's transmission died. Mitsubishi can't tell us why. We had a 2000 model Nissan Pulsar 1.6 before this car and put 170.000 k's trouble free motoring. A little disappointed. Least warranty covered it. Still waiting to get it back after 2 weeks. The loan car they gave us is an 07 ES. Very limited. Hasn't even got rear headrests or console cover.

This is a good little car. We needed a small family car as we just had a baby and this car was perfect for us. Fits the baby seat in perfectly and there is a really good size boot so no problems with boot size either. The inside light up the top also doesn't break in this model I've owned. The older version of this car as well and this would always happen within a week of getting it fixed so they've fixed the fault which is great.
Good on petrol, travels long distance's on a regular basis with no problems.
I've had no problems with this car.

I personally have a Lancer and love it. I have done approx 150,000km on the clock and have never had any problems with my car at all. Fuel cost soaring the last thing you need is a v8 or v6 fuel guzzling motor. The 4 cylinders is the more fuel efficient car to have a what better then a lancer.
Style, comfort, medium sized car, price, fuel economy need I say more

I can't complain about anything on this car. We had ours for 6 years and had no problems. The only reason we sold it was because we had a baby. It cost nothing to run and looked great as well
We had the 2003 coupe and found it very reliable, and very economical on fuel. It was great for us before we had kids, and is perfect for a couple or single person.
We needed more space and found it a bit frustrating when trying to transport larger items - because the seats did not fold down it was difficult to transport large things.

Best car ever made. 2002 2.0 litre sedan
I'm 30 years old I own the 2002 model Lancer 2.0 Litre VR-X, I bought it second hand for almost 20k in 2004 and it had 45000 Kms. I have absolutely thrashed this car from day dot and it has 240,000kms on it now.
I take every gear to the red line everywhere and i've only had one small problem. Shortly after purchasing it, it started using oil like no tomorrow! roughly 55,000kms. I was very lucky to find a fantastic mechanic who told me the guy previous must have driven it like an old lady whilst using a thicker than necessary oil, apparently a...Read more

This is an ideal car for anyone really.
A new driver, a mum with kids, even an elderly person would love this.
It hardly uses any petrol as long as you're not accelerator friendly.
I had to have the motor fixed only once but this was after an accident and parts for it are very cheap.
I've had a 2001 Lancer for about 5 years now. I love the way it drives, so smooth! It's family friendly with three possible anchor points for anyone that has kids! The compact size will get you in and out of parking spots with ease.
Really the only fault I can think of is that there is no windshield wiper on the rear window. Insurance is also a bit dear, apparently these have a high theft risk :(

On the little details you've provided - it would be almost impossible to diagnose .
I would recommend taking the car to a Mitsubishi australia workshop or possiby a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop or if the problem may be within the electrics then perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help.
I also found ultratune experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults.
