What might be the cause of 2 litres of fuel in the sump after a 1000k day trip at 100KPH? It does this every time but around town the oil level doesn't change at all. The 3.2 has done 110 thousand K's, is it time for major surgery or possibly a fairly easy fix?.Is this a common complaint? Can anyone shed some light on this problem please. Nic.

Nic, sorry I am unable to answer your question as I am not a mechanic nor have I done 1000 km in my new Triton yet. I take possession of it on Tuesday, but will check out if mine does the same thing soon enough. I would suggest you contact your local Triton dealer and see if they can shed some light on your issue.

Try some injector cleaner. Sounds like fuel is bypassing the rings. Call a diesel injection specialist if the injector cleaner doesn't fix the problem.
No harm in trying as injector cleaner is fairly cheap.

Hi, I have a 2007 GLXR (manual transmission). In the past 12-18 months I have noticed the car has been surging intimitantly, I mostly happens between second and forth gear during acceleration and feels kinda like the car is loosing power and bunny hopping a bit. I’ve asked several mechanics if they know what may be causing it but none have been able to answer the question and can’t seem to find anything wrong. Anyone else experienced similar issues? I’m noticing it’s becoming worse :(

Hi, sorry too hear your having problems with your triton. I haven’t had that problem with my car. The only answer I have for you is, sell the car, before you waste more money at mechanics, I’ve been there before with other cars, when I’ve payed for cars too be repaired, and have the same problems back the next day, or I’m told they can’t find the problem lol .

Hi there I have a 3.5 v6 triton and I changed the fuel tank but the on board computer that tells me how many kms I still have to go did not change. How do I set it or will it come right over time?

Might have to actually take the vehicle to a Mitsubishi australia workshop or perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to reset the onboard computer .
I also found ultratune auto service centres experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults.

What's involved to remove the sump on my 2.4L petrol ML triton? Will the sump come off in place or do I need to lift the motor or other parts to get enough clearance to remove it?

Many thanks for any help.

It doesn't seem like you know what you're doing so I would recommend instead to let a mechanic at the Mitsubishi dealers workshop to have a look at the vehicle or perhaps a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop may be able to help.

I can see the error in how I've worded my question, but as an ex mechanic, I've seen many vehicles where in order to remove the sump the adjacent k frame, steering rack or other components need to be shifted temporarily in order to get the right angle or clearance to allow the sump to come clear. Also I realise that at very least the bash plate must be removed to even access the sump.

At the time of posting this message I had just received a call from Mitsubishi, where the vehicle was for an unrelated warranty issue, that the sump was leaking slightly and that it would cost $500 to fix that day. So without the car in front of me to double check, I wasn't about to just say, I'll do it myself.......without a hoist, or engine crane at home.

I've since asked around and it looks like it'll come free without any obstruction and for a couple of hrs of my time and a $20 tube of black rtv sealant( the exact stuff that mitsy uses), I'll let the mitsy dealers keep their big bills.

Have an ML with just over 265k on it, what I think is the clutch has gone on it (because of the smell) but I’ve been told that when the clutch goes you should still have drive to the wheels, but I don’t. Has anyone else had this problem or know what might be the problem? TIA

It seems like it's time to have the vehicle towed to a Mitsubishi australia workshop or perhaps a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop may be able to help.
If the vehicle is not still under warranty - I would recommend to have the vehicle towed to a reasonable transmission specialist workshop to see one of their staff may be able to assist.

Not sure though, if you have problems with a diesel engine I would recommend to take the vehicle to a diesel engine specialist workshop and they may be able to help.
