Excellent
Had my 2018 exceed for 12 months. Used off road, beach and around city. Brilliant value for money. Can still buy new 2 of these for the price of a Toyota or Ford. To selling new for $38000. Have had zero problems with it. More extras as standard than most other 4wd's. 5 star safety rating.
Purchased in January 2021 for $39,900.00.

A very good vehicle for a very decent price.
Purchased new in 2016 as a replacement for my MN Triton which I had a trouble free run with. MQ Exceed, has everything that I need, I tow my single axle 1900kg ATM 17.5 foot full size caravan without an issue and get around 400 to 500 k's per tank towing, 100kmh on roads other than Freeways and easy 110kmh on freeways. Have been over to Adelaide and up to QLD and all through NSW, including the outback several times without issue. Quiet on the road with AT tyres on the stock rims fitted, Carryboy canopy is the other accessory I have fitted, whi...Read more
ch is an excellent fit and top quality. Service and after sales help has been excellent, driver mirror replaced without fuss after the spring became weak from being blown in when passing B Doubles in the outback of NSW lots of times. Around town non towing fuel economy is 700k's per tank consistently. I always use premium diesel and drive it easy and fuel economy is fine. If you drive it hard everywhere then the fuel economy will be terrible, common sense to those whinging about poor fuel economy. AWD mode in the wet is excellent, I love leaving other dual cabs spinning and bogging down on the spot with traction control as I pull away smoothly in the wet. This ute is built to a price, but you get a lot for your money, particularly comfort and safety. Don't expect to get a vehicle capable of V6 diesel or 5 cylinder diesel power if you haven't paid the big bucks for it, yes turbo lag is annoying, but you drive to the limitations of the vehicle and it's not an issue. I'll be upgrading to the new shape next year without question, look what you get for your money with the new model, outstanding. My only complaint is that, as with my MN, the disks required machining at about 20,000ks, but that cost all of $100 at my mechanic, no issues since, done 45,000ks now. $15,000 to $20,000 cheaper than the competition, but not $15,000 to $20,000 worse than the competition, have a listen to auto expert reviews on Youtube, interesting point of view on the Triton vs the rest. Excellent for the money, not the best money can buy but the best value by far.Purchased in June 2021 at Mitsubishi Dealers.

Very very good unit
Finish to exterior very good, rims, tyres, tray/tub look good and are very functional - access in and out of the vehicle is excellent with extra room and good access to the rear seats ..diesel economy is excellent, power is quite good.. dash set out and controls to the vehicle are excellent and easily operable ..finish to the interior is very very good, full leather, with good comfort and position of front and rear seats, excellent all round vision ... when in 4x4 mode I found it excellent with good ability ..every day road use is excellent...Read more
...loading of the large tray/tub is very good ..adjustable headlights is excellent on country roads ....detractions are .. finish to seat bases after the leather are a bit tacky but usable ... lag in the turbo is a bit more than it should be with a slow reaction from stand still and trying to enter traffic.. no GPS ...roof sunglasses pocket is to small and subject to overheating in summer...small detractions yes but overall this vehicle is excellent for the cost.Similar opinion? Keeps doing everything I ask of it...
120,000km of trouble free ownership since Oct 16. My commute is 160+km/day in varying traffic with fuel usage still ~9L/100km. And that's with 2" taller tyres than factory. I've taken it to Fraser Island twice, Straddie Island, and recently to Cape York including the full Old Telegraph Track. With only a snorkel and taller All-Terrain tyres (no bullbar or winch), the ute embarassed a lot of heavily modified 4WD's by never getting stuck once or requiring recovery. Yes, NVH is a little harsher than competitors and it's built to a price, but I cou...Read more
ldn't justify the extra $20K for a marginal improvement. I'll be driving ~8,000km on a Broome road trip via the desert in 2020 and I have no concerns about its reliability, economy or capability. It has been excellent so far and still looks great in metallic blue.Purchased in October 2021 for $44,000.00.

2017 MQ VRX (Kiwi Exceed),4x4 Auto
In 2017 the cost was NZ$47K with factory accessories i.e. front nudge, sports and tow bars, bonnet guard, deep floor mud mats, tub liner and soft tonneau cover. It has the 10 year warranty and is serviced every 15,000kms as per the service book.
I commute daily and travel approx. 28km per day. I have fitted an iDrive throttle controller which seems to supress the very dangerous turbo lag on take off from intersections.

Great value but average product
Great value in theory, however felt underwhelming. Made sense on paper, however after driving it for 6 months it felt like a budget vehicle mechanically (undercarriage rattles and turbo lag) and the interior is poor- not much better than a Toyota in terms of quality. Ended up selling in 6 months for a different make.

GREAT CAR
There can be no denying the Triton’s sticker price jumps off the page and slaps you in the face. Our test vehicle was the premium grade Exceed purchased for 35K DEMO 700KMS out of the tank all the bells and whistles
Compare that with other top-shelf 4x4 dual cab utes like the Amarok Ultimate V6 ($68,490), HiLux Rugged X auto ($63,690), Ranger Wildtrak auto ($61,790), Colorado Z71 auto ($57,190) and Navara ST-X ($54,490). Obviously, many Aussies have done this and concluded that being able to buy a high quality Japanese ute with all the fruit for under $50K represents outstanding value for money.

Great value for money.Paint and finish arr very good.
My only vehicle so reliability is first priority,as a fair amount of my driving is on country roads where there is no mobile reception.I travel around 430 kilometres one way to visit family and friends on a regular basis, about every 6 to 7 weeks..Very comfortable,100% reliable, has just been serviced 3 year 45,000 kilometres. For a 2.4 motor it has good overtaking power.I have only done a small amount of off road but seems very capable.

Good Car, easy to stall though
It's a great vehicle all round so far, it does slip a little more when towing in 4x4, but I think this is due to too much torque going to rear wheels as opposed to 50:50 bias of the MN.
The biggest faults are the time it takes to engage low 4x4 due to no lever, and the way it just stalls out of the blue at times. The hill assist braking system doesn't help!

False and misleading
Be warned Mitsubishi has a ‘Limited Life Warranty’ and lists a bunch of parts that Mitsubishi only warrants for 12 months or 20,000kms. Mitsubishi suggests that these components are “subject to normal wear and tear and that the use of your vehicle can influence the life of these components”. Fair call, but that summary could fairly be applied to every part that makes up a vehicle. There are some items listed you can’t argue with, as wear and tear and potentially owner abuse can kill some consumables – brake pads, clutches and wiper rubbers come...Read more
to mind for example – and no self respecting new vehicle owner would expect such items to be covered. But the following items being classified as having a ‘limited life’ and being dumped from the known five-year warranty and plonked into an unknown 12 month warranty, tucked away in the service book or on the Mitsubishi website. Glow plugs Fuel injectors Cooling and fuel lines or hoses Rubber or plastic components The main concerns are the glow plugs and fuel injectors. What owner wouldn’t reasonably expect to get five years or 100,000 kms from both of those items and accordingly have the vehicle’s full warranty cover them should they fail prematurely?Similar opinion? Great car horrendous service
Great car pity bout Lander Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi Australia. I had a hard lid tonnou installed by the dealer on my brand new car. 4 weeks later, it rubbed the paint back to bare metal on the rear side panel. It wasnt installed correctly. Has been back 4-5 times for re-alignment as it wont lock. 02/06/18 - I lodged a complaint and warranty claim with the dealer. Every month I rang and asked for an update. "Still with Mitsubishi HQ" was the response every time. Finally 24/06/18, I complain to Mitsubishi Australia, I get a response on the 26/06...Read more
/18 saying that they only received the warranty claim form the dealer yesterday 25/06/18 and it is denied as the part isnt faulty. I agree, it wasnt faulty but the installation was. So the dealer says it a HQ problem and HQ says it isnt their problem. So Im stuck with a damaged brand new car through no fault of my own. So no more loyal servicing for me at this dealer. I will take my business elsewhere and Ill be paying half the service cost. Horrible customer service for an issue caused by the dealer through no fault on my part. DO NOT BUY A MITSUBISHI AS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT DAMAGE THEY CAUSE TO YOUR BRAND NEW CAR.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The triton is great on road or when you go off road. Even my friend who brought a new Hilux loved the car when he drove mind and he things he paid 20 grand to much for his Hilux and wished he test drove the Triton. I would recommend the MQ Triton to anyone wanting a great car/ ute.

bad steering
when going over bumps the steering shakes. Even on small bumps, it is called bump steer Mitsi say bad luck that is how they are. Have taken to after market suspension places as ARB. DOBINSONS, TJM. All say its in the design off suspension. The other is that the cab and tub move on the pads, space between verries from hitting to over 35mm again mitsi berwick said that's how they are. The head lights shake on the highway enough to make occupants seek again mitsi said thats how they are. And the rattles everywhere passenger seat and seat belt bon...Read more
et steering and again mitsi said thats how it is. And the turbo lag is quit bad. there is an after market fix but no warranty if you go that way. And the worst one for me is no traction control in revers. on a wet clay surface the front overtake the back, not so on the competitions utes. otherwise great LOL OH the seats fulling apart at 15,000 ks fake leather is bad and plastic mould broken where seat controls are on the exceed. Pleasant surprise
I've swapped from a Colorado LTZ dual cab to a Triton Excced dual cab as a company car. At first I felt it was a bit of a down grade in the way it drove but I found that it seems to be growing on me. The Colorado felt more solid but they are a bit of a tank to move around and park compared to the much easier and nimble feeling of the Triton. You quickly start to appreciate the features of the Excced and what you get for your money. The heated seats are awesome, auto headlights and wipers, folding wing mirrors, keyless entry and push button st...Read more
art, great multi media stereo system and comfortable interior. Unloaded they are a little rough on the ride on poor roads but I let the tyres down to 35 psi and it feels like a different car. Some dislikes are hands free speaker only sounds through the passengers side tweeter speaker- could be fitted with more lighter / power sockets - you need to touch the screen to clear the warning message on the multi media screen every time you start the car - needs a bigger set of wheels - High beam is very average - sun glasses compartment on roof console to small for the average pair of sunnies - plastic rear bumper looks cheap. Haven't tried any off road driving as yet but with a factory rear diff lock it's bound to have some credibility. Overall not a bad drive car and for the money you pay, it's pretty good value for a 4x4 dual cab ute in my opinion.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
So far so good, love the mix between family vehicle and a truck.
Traded in my VW SUV and work van for the triton to use as a work and family vehicle.
For work (carpenter/handyman) i Fitted canopy, roof bars and ARB rear drawers for convenience and so far its working out pretty well.
The vehicle has everything my VW had and some more and my 4yr old daughter loves it! Its a great vehicle to drive everyday, i live and work in inner Sydney and i can still easily park it in some pretty tight spaces and its not too thirsty (about the same economy as my previous 2.0TSI VW and HI Ace 3.0TD Van around town between ...Read more

When looking for the right vehicle I needed something that fit the following criteria:

Solid ute, smaller, sleek design, fuel efficient, good value package and all-rounder.
Owned the MQ 2016 exceed for at least two years now. I have done 41,000km, the fuel economy on highways is 7.6L but that's if you drive like an angel and really try, around town I get between 8-10L all with an empty tub. I've had no problem with the car besides a poorly installed hard tonneau cover when I picked it up at the dealership.
Some towing with trailer, beach driving and light trails. I'm keeping the ute stock for now.
The turbo lag is noticeable especially if you're easy on the pedal but if you've got a lead foot it's powerful ...Read more
enough too. Some owners have put in a throttle controller which fixes this if it really bothers you but I find the power sufficient even in the auto. I upgraded from my first car which was a Toyota RAV4 1999 so the engine power is an upgrade for me but for others who've driven good cars may say otherwise about the low down torque. It's solid on the highway but the suspension can be quite firm and bouncy with an empty tub. It's still quite comfortable to drive, and the backseats are slightly higher which really improve the comfort for the passengers. Very good handling and turning circle definitely feels more car like than truck. The turning circle is this utes strong point. I don't have a problem with the front passenger seat belt rattling that many Triton owners seem to have. The head unit is not very responsive and is dated, it has plenty of features but the design is not very good for a 2016 car, for the map I have a twin map running with different zooms which really help in unfamiliar roads, would definitely like the apple car play head unit in the 2017 model. The navigation I think is very good in terms of design, everything else in that unit needs to be replaced. Will be looking aftermarket or for the 2017 one.Similar opinion? Great ute for the price
Great value for money. Now 1200kms on it since picked up on 31/03. Even my wife loves driving it. Just came back from hunter valley, car drive great more than enough power for 4 people and some cargo in the tray. Seats are comfy, not much engine noise in cabin, handle well on gravel and has best turning circle for big car.
Around town fuel is ok I guess between 9.5L/100km to 11L/100km but on highway 7.6 to 8.1/100km.
Still early days so can't really comment on reliability but so far loving this car. I highly recommend this car should go for test drives.

A quick update, just clocked 40,000 kms and so far so good. No issues, runs well but fuel consumption still the same. Highly recommend to get oil catch can such as Manns provent 200 well worth the money and it pays for itself in a long run.
