Just wondering as I do a fair bit of walking on both pavement and gravel, do the tyres begin to look worn after regular use on gravel? As the tyres are made of plastic not air filled rubber. Really love the look of this pram and the fact it can be used as a bassinet but wondering how the tyres fare.

Deciding between this & a chameleon ...using it mostly around town & I'm not wanting to go hardcore off-reading but want it to handle grass/gravel/hard sand, will it do that fairly easily? Is the cosmopolitan okay for this usage? Thanks

Agree, the wheels and suspension make it great for rougher terrain... Not just a 'mall pram'

When using the lie flat mode, does the newborn baby have to lie on the harnesses? Or are they removable?

Chris
Chris

Not too sure what you mean by laying on the harnesses? If the child is in the pram i'd always strap the child in with the harnesses, if they roll over onto their stomach could be a suffocation risk or if the pram were to tip over they'd fall out. Harnesses are easy to adjust to loosen and tighten.

Claire
Claire

We just laid her in between. We never strapped her in when laying flat. I'd also put a small blanket down too. No problems at all.

Sharon

I always had a blanket at the bottom to cushion her. The harnesses never came in the way. I would never strap her in when she was laying flat anyway.

Is there a capsule that goes with this pram

Julia

You can buy frames that click onto it to sit a capsule on. They are $39 on the mountain buggy website (the model number is TS23). They are compatible with Safe 'n' Sound capsules.

Chris
Chris

We hired a maxi cosi capsule to go in the car that was compatible with this pram bit you need adapters for to go on the pram though we never used it because our little one fell asleep easy enough once in the pram. Can't remember which specific maxi cosi capsule it was or if they all fit we asked staff at baby bunting where we bought it.

Does anyone know if the Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan fits into a Nissan Micra easily?

I'm not to sure.. I have a Nissan Xtrial and a Barina, I don't think it will fit in the Barinas boot because the way the seat harness goes down, but it does fold down well, you can disconnect the seat and turn them both on their side?

One side of the frame jams when folding. Is there a trick to fix this? WD40?

Julia

Make sure you are pressing both of the small grey buttons on the side of the frame in before you fold. Also the seat needs to be in the frontward facing, fully upright position. Other than this yours might be faulty so I would contact Mountain Buggy. Hope this helps!

Hi
I've had this happen to me as well, I don't think there is necessary a way to fix it but if it's happening I just make sure I push those the buttons on th side properly

Has anyone tried jogging with this 4 wheel pram? And tried off road on dirt roads?

I started jogging with it when my son was 18 months old - and it's been ok (not great). It's super flightly, especially if there isn't much weight in it (I run to pick my son up from daycare) - it rattles a lot too. It's not great off road either. if you are looking for pram for jogging and off road, I would suggest getting one of 'traditional' mountain buggies with 3 wheels over this one. I think the cosmo is more suited for flat, even surfaces like foot paths and shopping centres.

Scotgal
Scotgal

It's really not an off road pram, doesn't like being off the concrete.

Thank you for your answers & reviews ladies. I ended up purchasing the Cosmo. My bub is now 9 weeks & I took it for a short jog last night. It doesn't have a lot of stability with the wheels unlocked. I'll try with them locked in to position. I agree, the tyres on the jogger specific prams are more suitable to off road terrain, the wheels on the Cosmo aren't designed for this.

Hi, I'm expecting in October & we are on the lookout for a pram/stroller which is practical, lightweight, and something we can use from newborn through to toddler. We live in the country & are surrounded by dirt roads & frequent the beach. I'm a shortie too so want something I can lift in to our cars (1 being a 4WD). I am quite active & hoping to do some jogging with this pram so wondering if it is suitable for all of the above? The only downside I see is that there is not attachment for a 2nd seat should a number 2 come along. I feel like it would be the best for our lifestyle but just wondered if there are any other suggestions or considerations?

Thanks Tarn

I had this stroller... do yourself a favour & buy a Bugaboo Cameleon, for all the uses you listed. The cosmopolitan is poorly made & i had mine replaced 3 times by the manufacturer before requesting a refund. Its very pretty & has lots of great features but how good is a stroller that cant go the distance? It will wear out before you get the chance to use it for number two.

Tania Day

Hi Cassie, what types of problems did you encounter with the MB Cosmo to have it replaced 3 times? Thanks

Scotgal
Scotgal

Hi, I've had both a cameleon and a cosmopolitan and honestly preferred the cosmopolitan. For your requirements though I wouldn't go either, I'd go something more flexible like the city mini. If you want something like a cosmo or cameleon but want the double seat option go a city select or icandy.

I recently purchased the cosmopolitan. The shop I bought it from sold me the safe n sound unity capsule and a TS23 adapter but I can't work out how to attach it to the pram!!? What am I missing? Wrong adapter? Wrong model capsule?? Help please!

2 answers
Cassie L
Cassie L

Remove the seat unit & all you should have to do is put the adaptor/s in the holes the seat clicks into (make sure you have them on the correct side, left & right) & from there the capsule should just click in when placed onto the adaptors. You can also contact Mountain Buggy on their website (www.mountainbuggy.com) if you need further assistance, their customer service is fantastic.

LD
LD

So turns out the capsule had extra parts on the sides that click into other prams. I had to unscrew and remove the extra click bits on the side of the capsule for it to be able to click into the adapter. All fits now but had to call the shop to get the answer. I told Mountain buggy they need to update their instructions for the newer model unity capsule to explain this!

Hi there I love the design and look and wheels of this pram. Can it be taken easily on sydney buses and train ? Or is it too wide for buses ?

Also people that love this pram what hight are you ? As very sadly handle bar is fixed length.

I don't know about the buses, but I do know about the height thing. My husband is 195cm and I'm 173cm. The non adjustable handlebar was a major killer for us. No leg room to move and too short.

Amanda
Amanda

Sorry I don't know about buses and trains either. I'm only a shortie (about 159) so have no problem with the handle bar.

Thanks so much for your comments Amanda and chookyGurl am 165 cm feel it's an inch too short such a shame everything else is perfect

No, I haven't managed to get the straps to fit as snug as I'd like either. I have been intending to investigate further but only think about it when I'm strapping bub in and don't have the time.

Plink

I found the answer! It's hidden in the depths of the FAQ on the Mountain Buggy website. You pull the straps through the back and feed it back to the front through one of the higher holes - if that makes sense. You can find it here (http://mountainbuggy.com/au/Support/Ask-a-question?qaid=669251947).

Hi, I'm considering purchasing a Cosmopolitan but just wanting to get others opinions on how shaky the bassinet mode is and also how you've found the buckles in this mode, has it bothered your baby or been in the way and are they hard to secure if the baby is swaddled? Would it help to put a liner over them? Thanks so much!

2 answers
Bec M
Bec M

I was worried about the shakey seat but it's actually handy when trying to settle bubs (easy to jiggle). Regarding the straps, I decided to cover them with a pram liner and it worked well for my bubs. It is handy being able to switch to bassinet easily when out and about. My boy is 6 months old and still fits in bassinet mode (never unsupervised though).

katerinok
katerinok

I didn't use the buckles yet. I lined the bassinet with a blanket, covering the straps. Baby is 5 months old now. Still in bassinet. I just lift the back a little, so she can see around when not sleeping. It takes no effort to do that. And as I wrote before, we got used to that shaking and it's not that bad after all
