So far, so good
Can't comment on how long it lasts because I've only had it for a few weeks, but so far, couldn't be happier. It heats up fast, is comfortable, doesn't snag, glides easily over the hair, and most of all, does an excellent job of straightening. I have very thick, curly hair, so need a good straightener. I've always used a GHD but after the plates wore on my last one I decided to give another brand a go. After pouring over many reviews, I decided on this one. It was on special at Hairhouse Warehouse so worked out a third of the price of a GHD, but it's every bit as good. Definitely give it a go, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Cheaply manufactured
Don't have an issue with the performance of the straightener as far as whether it worked well during its short life, however found the straightener to be cheaply manufactured, with little parts of the unit becoming loose, and falling off entirely (eg. the little silver oval around the temperature display). Straightener gave me approximately 16 months of good daily straightening despite my little plastic pieces missing...and then promptly died on my a few mornings ago and refuses to turn on. Have replaced it with a Halo Farrah, hoping this one lasts a little longer.

Burns my hair
I was advised that this was the best one on the market. First straighter buzzed loudly had lose plates and was faulty at power on. Second one burns my hair so badly it stinks even with heat protector treatment.

It stopped working in 3 weeks
During the first one week it was good but after one week the red light flashes and it refuses to heat. I spent 1 hr re plugging it and pressing the on button but it just refused to heat up and only the red light was on. As I had to get to work, I was almost crying and I used my old flat iron emjoi to iron my hair and during that process Muk was at the edge of the table and it fell down and broke. I am really frustrated. My money is wasted.

I can't believe how amazing this product is
I was recommended this product by 2 hairdressers and after always using a GHD I was reluctant to change but I am so glad that I did.
It glides so smoothly over my normally frizzy hair and maintains straightened hair for longer .I was able to trial it at a Price Attack store and was amazed at the instant results. Combined with a protector spray it has given me the smooth hair that I have always only dreamed of.
I purchased the wider plate for my thick hair and it was worth the extra $50. It heats up fast and to a high but safe temperature and my hair feels so silky.
You will never regret purchasing a MUK.

Wow
My GHD was dying. Everyone was trying to sell me different brands. I was confused! Went to Hairhouse Warehouse and they let me try a lot of Brands!!! The MUK was the best. Love it! The best straightener I have ever had in 15 years!

Excellent - does exactly what I've dreamed about.
I have tried several straighteners recently to replace a rather old Vidal Sasson one that I had. I tried the Vidal Sasson steam straightener, it was quite useless so I was pleased that I could take it back to David Jones and get a full refund. A good friend suggested, rather insisted, I should get a GHD but the prices are just ridiculous. I spoke to my hairdresser who have both MUK and GHD. They prefer the MUK because of the infrared technology and the better quality plates and it's the one they use in the salon. They did a test, straightening ...Read more
one side of my hair with the MUK and the other with the other brand. There was quite a big difference to me. I went to look at other salons and saw the Cloud 9 as well. At all the salons I asked which side of my hair was better (not telling them of the experiment) and each time without hesitation they said the side that had been done with the MUK. When I told them, they were all aghast and hadn't heard of the MUK! I went back to the place I first went to and found they still had a couple of MUK Christmas special offers - that included the MUK Argan Oil treatment. So I bought it. Next day I washed my hair, let it dry naturally with the Argan treatment oil - it was as usual very frizzy (February humidity) and a bit curly. I put on the recommended heat protector with styling aid and sectioned my hair. From the very first straighten I was surprised at how easy it was to do and how perfectly straight my hair was - exactly what I wanted for years! The hair cuticle closes beautifully and what I love even more is that I can actually style my hair with a slight curl --- and --- I don't need to add anymore Argan oil or any other treatments in between washes/straightening and my hair feels lovely and silky soft. I LOVE this MUK straightener. If you are thinking about which one to get, I did more research online and have to stay don't hesitate get the MUK, it is superb.1 comment

Eh
When first got this it worked well, but doesn't straighten my hair properly. It leaves it with a curl at the end all the time, or it lasts for 30 minutes then goes frizzy and starts curling up again. overall not happy and want a refund of this product

Good .. seems better than GHD
Looks great over a GHD..don't have to iron repeatedly over a thick strand of hair to get the desired result..great design too.. temperature control setting is a great feature.. more features than a GHD for the same price.. adds shine to your hair

Couldnt be happier!
Bought from hairhouse warehouse after my ghd died. I didnt have $300+ to buy a 'top of the line' straightener. Got the sales assistant to show me how this and another straightener worked on my hair. I have fine, flyaway hair with little frizzies. This is a quality product and i honestly could not be happier. I can't imagine a more expensive option could leave my hair any more sleek, straight and shiny! The temperature control, digital display, infra-red plate, and ionic generator are some of the features that help to deliver such perfect results. I promised myself if this straightener was a goodie I'd write a review so here it is!

Best value hair iron
My GHD was on its last legs and I needed to replace my hair iron. My hair is important to me, and so is my money, I was prepared to spend however much was necessary but didn't want to spend anymore than I had to. I looked at all the hair iron's GHD's, Cloud Nine's, Remington's, Vidal Sassoon, you name it! When one person recommended the MUK I went to check it out, having not been familiar with the brand I overlooked it. I love my MUK! Why do I prefer my MUK 230ir to a Cloud Nine or GHD? The comparable Cloud Nine is $100 more. My Muk has tempera...Read more
ture control and comes with a 2 year, not one year like the GHD, warranty. In fairness I didn't really look at the VS or Remington but I spoke to several salons who told me not to bother with those brands so my comparison was Cloud Nine, GHD and MUK.Similar opinion? great my hair is - they know the battles I had with the frizzies! I don't get a penny for this review, or even as much as thank you from MUK, but if this can help other people who want good results and lovely smooth hair, go for it!
