Poor Security poor exchange rate
I am only giving this product 1 star because you can't give minus. I recently got my Nab Traveller card statement and I found out some one in India has skimmed off $2048.00 from my card in multiple transactions all on one day. I rang the bank and the women I spoke to had a very strong Asian accent it was a poor line (probably a call center in Mumbai) and it was very hard to understand her. She told she would email me a 'Disputed Transaction Form' which I never received and to have a nice day. Not easy to have a nice day when you find out you've...Read more
been ripped off for $2048.00. As I did not get the form I went to the bank to get a form and some assistance and also transfer the funds on the card (how could I trust the card again?). They couldn't do it because the card had been stopped. So I had to fill in another form to get my money back. I had £4991 on my card when I cashed it in I received £4623 so I lost £368 on the transfer. So far using a NAB Traveller Card has cost me $2700 Do not under any circumstances use a NAB Traveller Card. The only upside was the missing funds were returned to my account within a week and I still have the secondary card I can use. I now have two choices risk using the card again when I visit the UK next year or lose money when I transfer the funds back to dollars. Stick your cash in your bra or your sock it will be safer and cheaper.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible card - and it has no meaningful support
Got it about a year ago and used it in Italy to get Euros. Worked OK, though I thought the fees were at the high end.
However, the ability to access information (e.g. balances and transactions) on the "MyAccount" facility stopped working on more and more of my android devices - wouldn't let me login. About a week before this years trip, I loaded up money onto the card. After loading up money for this years trip, access to information also stopped working on all my windows PCs, so I had no way of accessing information. Telephoned NAB who told m...Read more

Worked Well
We used a NAB travel card throughout the UK and Europe. It was accepted everywhere, including online, and automatically selected the correct pre-loaded currency. We opened up a NAB savings account so transferring money from the NAB savings account onto the card was instant using the phone app. You can transfer from other banks onto the travel card, but it takes a couple of days to clear. I don't know much about exchange rates and we used a 28 degrees MasterCard for hotel bookings and security holds. It was a good combination of cards to take.

What a Scam. Absolute garbage and the staff straight up lied to me! Considering moving banks!
This card is rubbish. Worst exchange rate out of all of the options and then when you convert it back to AUD it's even worse!! Your considerably better off using your normal Visa debit card. The staff will tell you otherwise however.
Conversion. Rate to JPY was 82 YEN to the dollar. I was then charged more then 10% in exchange rate difference to convert back to AUD.
Rate at the ATM after including all fees was 88 JPY. To top it off Japan is for the most part a cash society so this card was completely useless for my trip! Hats off nab, what a scam! Your officially worse then Travellex!!

Useless
This card was declined so many times in the US it was unbelievable - so embarrassing so many times. Couldn't pay the bill in the hotel. Absolutely dreadful ... Do not use this card ...

Hotel Deposit
I used the card for a hotel security deposit. The only problem is, NAB do not release the funds for 30 days afterwards. NEVER touch this card. There are much better options.
December 13th 2017 Update: Complete and utter waste of money
After transferring money into the NAB we converted all our funds to Euro and made it the default currency. After using the card a few times I checked the balance on line and found out that the NAB were still charging a conversion fee. This is an absolute fraud NAB. Do not touch this card.

Unhelpful customer service, funds stolen
Card was used fraudulently overseas after we got back to Australia, we had already withdrawn all remaining funds so the card went into debit. We filed dispute forms, did not receive a response, resent all required details a week later, received a generic response. After waiting weeks we called and were told our dispute had been rejected although we had not been informed. They said we needed to take in up with the company, we had already made multiple calls to Ireland to the company, we were hung up on and they blocked our number, one person s...Read more
aid they could not explain the charge. After all this the uninterested nab traveller card staff member said we could not close the account until paying off the amount in debit. When I asked why money could be withdrawn if there was no money in there, she said anyone can withdraw any amount of money. I requested to dispute the payment again, she said she would send an email with details, the email stated I was in debit and the money would need to be paid within 30 days or action will be taken?? No details whatsoever about how to further dispute the fraudulent transaction. We ended up paying the debit just to close the account as she said anyone can take any amount of money so before thousands more or millions were taken, it was our safest option. I called straight away to cancel the card only to get the same useless staff member who then started to ask why I would want to cancel??? Save yourself the stress, take cash, less chance of being robbed physically than electronically, especially when NAB traveller card staff don't care.Similar opinion? Hidden fees and unbelievable bad exchange rates
I have this card in Thailand. I transfer 370$ to the travellers card and received 8990 baht. The exchange rate is 24.3. At the currency exchange booths the Oz dollar is around 25.6. So anyway I have this 8990 in the account and they say no more fees just the local ATM fees which is around 200 baht so I should able to get 8700 baht right. Nope after other currency exchange fees I am only able to withdraw 7800 baht. So it cost 1100 baht to withdraw this amount 7800 baht which means it cost me approx 45$ Aus to withdraw 7800 baht. Enough said! For those that think it's easy and great you are obviously very bad at maths and you have to much money to waste.

Great card, easy to use
Initial setup when already in Europe was tricky - get it fully functioning before travelling. After that, it was great. Spent 4 months travelling. Loading it was easy, as was top up, transferring between currencies, and paying bills. Occasionally card was refused, so needed a credit card. Would definitely use again.

Don't waste your time with this card
I used the NAB traveller card to place my security deposit at our hotel. It is now a week and the NAB has not credited my card. The hotel showed me that they have released the funds. Never touch this card.

Worst customer service ever
Don't be mistaken that this is part of the NAB. Completely different and the worst customer service ever. If you have an issue they do not respond and simply do not care. Other cards give decent customer service

Terrible card and service
We only used this card on a few occasions because it kept getting rejected. However, our account was then debited although no cash was received. NAB will not offer customer support but refer to Traveller Card (whoever they may be). My first call to them was from Dubai, cost $60, went for over an hour and I was referred to four different operators - with no resolution. Although this account is listed on my internet banking I cannot get a transaction summary or statement, so I cant see if the debits have been reversed. Earlier transactions were s...Read more
hown in the currency of the country i.e. Dubai with no conversion factor, even though the balance remaining was adjusted. A further attempt to gain a statement and some resolution also resulted in lengthy telephone waits which finally dropped out. I tried to go through our local NAB branch and Traveller Card would not talk to them - this is re a card which has NAB printed all over it, and is sold as a NAB card. Never again, and this is severely prejudicing our otherwise good relationship with NAB.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Traveller Card in Italy
Kevin U has obviously not had many experiences with ATMs in Italy. Over 6 visits to that country since 2004, on almost every trip there has been at least one ATM problem where the account is debited but no cash has been dispensed, using Visa debit and credit cards.. It is a chronic problem with ATMs in Italy and one lady bank manager there said "Just be patient, the money will be returned to you within 7-10 days". And it was, but that did not diminish the anxiety levels.
So, it is NOTHING to do with Traveller Card.

Give this card a big miss!
We used the card in Italy where ATM's showed failed transaction and no cash was dispensed. Arrived home to find the amounts of failed transactions had been debited from our account. Here we are 6 weeks later with no refund and no action by travel card. Third world service on the phone, no answer to written forms submitted and emails bounce back. Our NAB bank manager tried to action on our behalf and his emails bounced back too! Travel card is a complete DUD.

Checking balances is painful.
I have no issues with using the card. I have used a card in Spain for 3 months now and apart from some merchants not wanting to take credit cards ( "Our machine does not work" or "Telephone line problem") Other than that no problems.
And receiving an email when new funds are in your account is good.
BUT!!!!!!
Wanting to check balances or expenses, to log into your account is stupid to say the least.
EVERY TIME YOU NEED TO ACTIVATE "Forgotten password"
Then have to access your email to get a temporary password and then choose a new password.
But using your old password will also work.
And then log in again.
STUPID !!!!!!!!!

NAB do Not support this product - be careful
The NAB card works well as long as there are no issues. NAB have outsourced this service and do not stand by this product. If you want an issue resolved (after unsuccessfully working with Traveller Card) then NAB wash there hands of it. So be careful. I won't be using this card ever again.

Used for 1 month in the South-West USA with almost no problems at all
Before a recent trip to the USA with my son, I ordered a NAB Traveller card and transferred a few thousand dollars onto it. It was only afterwards (and a few days before the holiday) that I happened to check this site and saw all the negative reviews. I was extremely concerned, to put it mildly, and ended up drawing out almost the same amount in cash to take with me in case of any issues!
Following this, I have to say that I was extremely and pleasantly surprised (and genuinely shocked) when using the card. After bracing myself for any numb...Read more
er of issues, I used the card at a variety of restaurants and shops in LA and several other US states, at motels, in National Parks, in Walmart, at gas stations and a number of other places. Even used it in one-horse towns to buy drinks etc. All went without a hitch. Even on a couple of occasions when I used the card when pre-paying for gas and ended up overpaying (as can happen), the extra funds were quickly returned to the card and the transactions were settled promptly. I didn't actually use it to withdraw any money from an ATM, so cannot comment on that and never had any reason to contact customer service, so likewise, cannot comment on that either. The only other concern I had was that a couple of places didn't use a PIN and got me to sign but didn't check my credentials / ID at all but that isn't a fault of the card! Other than that, the website to check the balance and transactions is a bit clunky and outdated but it works. Happy to provide details of my transactions to prove that I'm not a NAB employee or fanboy, just a relieved traveller :-) My only other irritation is that I have 6 cents remaining on the card but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to cancel the card online so I now need to visit a branch.Similar opinion? No customer service
There does not seem to be a lot of connection between NAB and this card - they seem to have outsourced the service. We've just spent another hour of our holiday on the phone with 'card services' after being redirected 4 times.
We'll be looking for a better alternative next time we travel.

Stay Away from this Card
It is not just the way the NAB traveller card works and money rendered inaccessible for weeks that is problematic. Inability to identify which amounts are ‘holds’, unpredictable timing of releases, random and haphazard operation, inadequate upfront disclosure, lack of responsive email address on the website, lack of response to emails and phone calls, etc, are all frustrating. This is not helping NAB customers and it is not helping NAB’s reputation. The reputation of Australian banks has enough to contend with without this sort of stuff. My suggestion is that the traveller card be withdrawn until the problems can be sorted.

Cashing Out NAB Travel Card
I wanted to cash out my NAB travel card and transfer the money back into my CBA bank account. I cannot do this on line if I do not have a NAB bank account. You have to download a form, fill it in and fax (who faxes now?) or scan the completed form and email to NAB. I have not received notification from NAB if got the form. Other people have commented that it could take weeks to got your money transferred. NAB want to keep the money longer to get interest for themselves. Very poor customer service from NAB. Next time I will use my bank travel card.

Has anyone had their card stolen while in Europe
1 answer
Yes. I have had both cards stolen in Rome Italy in 2015. With one phone call to their toll free number, stolen NAB Traveller Cards were replaced and sent direct by courier within 24 hours. They were waiting for us on arrival at our next hotel in Italy with cash loaded ready to go! See our separate review for details.
Barrie S.asked
Has anyone had the worst experience of having a Nab Traveller Card stolen while in Europe and also the thief withdrawing all funds from the card from an ATM without the PIN number being with the card? Need help because Nab claims that no money can be withdrawn unless a pin number is used.
Thanking you.
