Botched the most critical inspection stage
Engaged New Home Inpsections for a pre-slab inspection 4 weeks prior to slab pour. Rang them 1 week prior to slab pour to confirm building was going to the schedule I'd provided. I asked them if I needed to ring them again closer to the time to triple confirm, they said "oh no, we will speak directly to your site supervisor to line up before pouring commences". They didn't ring the site supervisor until it was too late. Builder told me they never came before the pour. I spoke to them and they said "ooh we were going to ring your supervisor today". Well, it's too late now, concrete has gone down and all potential misdemeanors are lost in the cement forever. The one inspection I absolutely needed to be done. Thanks guys, awesome job !

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
We employed New Home Inspections as we wanted, as their tag line suggests to ‘make sure our biggest investment was a quality investment’. We were sadly disappointed. We paid $650 for New Home Inspections to send out an independent inspector to assess our new home build in its final stage. Whilst we acknowledge that the inspector had picked up some things that were not compliant, we were extremely concerned by the amount of items that were NOT picked up by the Inspector. When conducting an inspection of the property ourselves, we identified many...
Read more other items, including, but not limited too; uneven cornice, bulkead in the main bedroom was significantly out, a brick at the front of the house was significantly uneven yet the inspector picked up a brick three down from this which he identified as having excess mortar (a fairly insignificant issue), significant dents in the slab at the front of the house, significant creaks to one bedroom that required the carpet to be ripped up and work to be done, a scratch in the window splashback and one of the living room windows, requiring both windows to be replaced, cracked sills to the front of the house, a door installed not to as per plans and not picked up. I could continue to go on with the faults that were NOT identified by the inspector. What concerned me greatly was the response received by New Home Inspections. When I brought our concerns up with the company, they replied about a clause that we signed with our builder regarding tolerances, they even asked us for the measurement as to how far out our cornice was. We chose New Home Inspections for our family home 'to ensure we were getting the quality that we paid for'. We also employed this company to ensure that the standards that our family home was built were to industry standards and not to our builders standards, New Home Inspections were to identify the defects. Our builders tolerances should have absolutely no bearing on the outcomes of any reports or recommendations. We were lucky enough to work with our builder who in fact fixed these defects as they were not within their tolerance levels. We tried to resolve this issue with the company privately, however after a second reply email we received no response and we think it is only fair to warn other prospective clients from wasting $650 on a report that is of substandard.- Customer Service

Devastating experience
How worst it could be when an inspector is having chat in a close door room with the building supervisor while clients are present at the property. On raising the issue with company over the phone, been told we cant stop anyone to have communication and if there is any concern we should have ask our supervisor as he approached the inspector. The point is we do not have control on supervisor as he is working for builder he can reach to anyone he wants but we paid for inspectors service even if he is approach by someone he could have ask him to t...
Read morealk in front of clients not staying in room for 5mins and pretending like nothing happen. I sent an email enquiring about update as this was frustrating because reception had ensured over the phone to get back to me after having words with inspector. Finally i got the inspection report at night on third day after speaking to a different person over the phone and explaining her the whole incident and experience and she was humble enough to listen and conveyed it to the management. I even got call back from her confirming inspector will call me to explain his point of view and feedback has been conveyed. On that day i did got the report at night but never got a call from that inspector. This was my only inspection since my house is building and because of such experience the report has no credibility to me.- Customer Service

Absolute Fail
I engaged the services of new homes inspections to do an inspection on my new build. there was no liaison between my ss and the inspector by this company and an appointment was made. i received an email stating appointment has been made with ss. I got a call from the inspector saying, he's on site and he cannot inspect as fascia and gutters were not installed and for that reason he could not inspect the frame. I knew there will be a charge so i asked inspector and he said $120. I later got an invoice for $360 which i feel is very unfair and a big bill for doing nothing, as he could have at least inspected some part of the frame which was completed for that amount. Terrible service and i will never recommend company to anyone.

Questions & Answers
Hi, I am wondering if you routinely check whether or not a prospective franchisee or inspector has a history of being a disqualified builder, either due to breaches to the relevant building act, or through insolvency due to a domestic building insurance claim being made against them by a former homeowner.
No I don’t, I prefer recommendations from people I trust and keep your options open.
Thx Siddharth. My question is directed towards the owner of New Home Inspections rather than current or past clients.
I am wanting answers, I had a report completed by new home inspections, the builder disputed a significant item on the list and NHI now don't return calls or emails and have blocked me on FB. Thanks for your help, happy to take my money but that is were the service seems to end.
Hi Guys,
I am thinking to engage your services for my build, what do you have to say about a review left above by Chilli ? That totally defeats the point of independent inspection when your employed inspector dont care about their work ?
We found them wonderful. Like the whole building process, the relationship you can build with everyone else in the process is the biggest thing. It's your dream home and yes it will require a lot of...
Read more time and effort to make it happen. Absolutely zero concerns with NHI. They find the issues and its up to us to discuss and find resolutions with our builder so everyone is happy.Get an answer from our members and New Home Inspections representatives

Read more & Conditions. In that email we advised the following: "We strongly suggest that for your own reference and peace of mind you continue to confirm with your builder/site supervisor that the works will be ready to be inspected at the time booked as in the unfortunate event that your job is not ready to be inspected, or needs to be rescheduled/cancelled within 1 business day of your booking time, you will incur an inspection cancellation fee of 60% of the booked inspection fee to a maximum of $360:00 as per clause 14 of our Booking Confirmation. While you will be responsible for this cancellation fees to us, it may in some circumstances be recoverable from your builder if you have actually confirmed the inspection with them, however we make no assertion that it will be and that would remain a matter between yourself and your builder.
