Can't live without
I have a 96 gq patrol and she goes hard! The driving experience has be awesome! For this old girl she still goes hard in the mud! I do like the interior she does get dusty, would be awesome if I didn't have carpet as the mud gets right under there but awesome car love it !!!

Rugged utility vehicle
1992 Patrol Ti 4.2 petrol with fuel injection (EFI). EFI came in 1992, so better power and economy. Still guzzles though, mine has manual gearbox and LPG dual fuel and it is an absolute must have for me. The Ti model is great in that it has that funky feelin of an extreme utility vehicle, but fitted out with luxuries such as 7 leather seats, wood trim, plush carpet and 7 speaker stereo. Yep, underseat amplifier, pillar mount tweeters and an underseat bass box back in 1992!
The manual box is precise and nice to use, and 4x4 drivetrain as well...Read more
. 4x4 offroad only. Best offroad features are the rear LSD which are very good, and in-cab factory sway bar disconnect. Yep, pull a leaver under the dash and it disconnects the rear sway bar providing significantly more articulation to the rear axle. Factory steering damper too. Very cool. Coil springs all round, handles very neutral on road, suprisingly good to drive on road for a utilitarian '80's designed 4x4. Legend. All in I'm very pleased. Mine is an excellently maintained low mileage model. Your experience may differ, but this Ti model gives the aura similar to a japaneses mercedes G-wagon. Feels like an agricultural/army/utility vehicle thats been worked over and luxuried-up for road use. 4x4's like this are the last of their breed. Tested some newer Y61, 1997 onwards patrols when looking for this one. They have similar good manners onroad, but newer shape was noticably quieter and less rattles from cabin materials etc. so Y61 certainly an improvement in occupant comfort.Similar opinion? Love my GQ
Have owned 2 GQ patrols. I will have one until I die. This current GQ I purchased NEW in 1994. Has given me much pleasure off road. Seen some amazing places and always got me back home. The secret to owning a diesel engine is regular servicing - ON TIME !!
300,000Kms and still tight as. This thing is going to take me around Australia for a 4 year trip and I know it will get me back home when it's all done.
Love my Patrol.

26 years and never missed a beat
I bought my first Nissan Patrol brand new off the showroom floor in 1988 and still own it. A GQ 4.2 litre carby petrol wagon that has done close on 800,000 klms without the engine being touched. It has averaged around 18 lts per 100 klms all its life but hey, it has cost me nothing in mechanical repairs.
It has been bush, across Australia around 6 times, towed a 25ft Bertram for years and spend many years doing it hard in the top ends.
I have used Penrite HPR 40-70 oil in it its whole life and I believe that has allowed the engine to achieve ...Read more
