Third review
Ok so baby number three turned 6 months last month and as we had zero reflux on the Novalac reflux formula I thought I would try her on one that is readily available and not being shipped to China ! We tried A2 platinum formula for 2 weeks (two tins) what a nightmare ! It didn't cause her tummy ache or constipation but she was spilling up to three times after every bottle and it was a real sickly smell too ! So back on Novalac reflux and after one day no spilling back to her usual self and she doesn't smell of vomit ! Will be leaving her on novalac now until 12 months ! Novalac for the win.....again

Won't use again
I started my baby on AR formula around the 4-6 week mark as she was constantly sicking up - my older child had reflux as a baby and I had used karicare AR formula with no worries, so I put her on a Karicare AR formula which worked perfectly no sicking up at all and no constipation, etc. I searched high and low for the same product but thanks to the Chinese buying up most Australian formulas found it hard to get my hands on and was steering away from the GOLD plus version, I had seen Novlac Reflux and did some research and read many reviews and ...Read more
after a couple weeks of procrastinating thought I may as well try it as it always seems to be in big supply at the chemist, I was very disjointed in this product I had high hopes after reading the reviews and since it costs a fair bit I had hoped for it to be a winner - unfortunately it made my poor lil one scream in pain after every feed {also waking up screaming}. My usually very settled and happy baby turned into a very unsettled grumpy irritable baby and she has gone back to vomiting up after every feed, and made her poos stink! Did not help at all and I would say made its worse for my little girl. I won't even bother finishing the whole tin. I've thrown it in the bin and gone back to aptamil Ar {trying the gold plus now}, this product did not work at all for us which is disappointing especially since formula is quiet expensive however what doesn't work for us may work for someone else baby I guess. Glad I'm back using Aptamil.

Is a life saver
I had huge expectations before I bought this product for my baby, my Lo was suffering from severe reflux, he couldn't sleep well, was always crying and uncomfortable, although he was on Zantac, the heartburn was still there. After reading several positive reviews I decided to try Novalac reflux, haven't looked back since. Was using nan ha before, was extremely unhappy, horrible smelly poo and baby was in obvious discomfort.

Very happy
My 12 week old son has struggled with reflux for weeks and we were using nan LI formula with gaviscon in it. My son was still very unsettled and very hungry all the time. In desperation i decided to try novalac reflux and so far it's day 4 and I'm very impressed. It took 2 days to see such a difference in him. His reflux has dramatically improved not gone but a lot better and he's not constipated! Very grateful to have found this formula. Give it a few days to see a difference :)

Excellent Formula!
I am so happy with this formula! My 8 week old daughter has reflux and I am a first time Mum so I didn't really know what was happening. Once diagnosed, our GP suggested I try this formula and my gosh what a difference! Very minimal vomiting, she can actually sleep now (I keep her upright for 40min after a feed) and after being constipated since birth, this formula has made her regular! It has been about 3 days on this formula so I am hoping it stays like this! I will update this review after a few weeks.

Vomit just everywhere
We were using karicare AR. But my boy was drinking really slowing due to it being thick. So I was advised by the chemist assistant to try this product because it expands in the stomach not in the bottle....he drank it quicker. But vomited it straight back up. What a waste of $30.

Best decision ever
My poor bub has reflux and had a lot of wind pain when she was on karicare plus but I changed to Novolac reflux and she is just smiles and giggles, no wind pains and barely any spew, yes she has been doing some hard poos but she still goes every day no matter what and she still does normal poo so I reckon that this formula is a life saver it has helped my baby so much

Overall good product
Didnt stop my sons projectile vomiting/reflux but minimized the size he was chucking up unfortunately gave him constipation and at times would clog up the teat. He was however fuller for longer and had good color and texture of poop when he wasnt constipated. Hard to find at times not at all stores
Constipation

Finally a solution!
Love it! Had a lot of trouble with a windy baby, dr thought silent reflux.. Had previously tried Aptimal Gold- way too much foam/bubbles, Nan wasn't bad but didn't solve the issue of wind pains. Novalac along with infant Gaviscon completely fixed this & now at 4.5months I am only using this + Gripe Water (the proper one from a chemist) which helps my son bring up the wind without pain :) very happy! Also no issue with constipation
30ml increments, not foamy, $27 is not expensive when it works!
Nothing

Not happy!!!
I thought I hit the jackpot with this one. 10 week old has silent reflux was on Nan HA, was refusing the bottle. Switched to Novalac reflux, and she was drinking, but noticed a change in bowel habits became constipated, and she became irritable. Was napping pretty good then changed to pretty bad. Her night sleep was also disrupted. 4 days later changed back to Nan HA and using mylanta, I've got my old baby back
She drank at first! Not too expensive
Leaving my daughter very irritable. Thank God I switched back!

Works for silent reflux :)
Our little boy has had silent reflux since 5 weeks. (11 weeks now). He was always a happy baby and slept well, however he would cry in pain after drinking, when burped, while lying down, and had frequent painful hiccups. He doesn't spew, just big gulps and swallows - you can hear the acid liquid rising and going back down his throat :(
As well as infant gaviscon (no improvement) and Zantac (some improvement) we tried so many formulas, some were better than others but none of which he could just drink straight without some level of discomfor...Read more
t. I found he never had that full 'milk drunk' look after feeding. Formulas we tried included karicare 1, karicare goat, s26 lactose free, nan comfort, and Nurture gold (not too bad). Eventually his sleep was starting to suffer and he was beginning to refuse feeds. Out of desperation we tried Novalac Reflux (as my understanding was that it was for normal spewing reflux only?). First bottle he drank the whole thing in one go without flinching or crying and was so full and happy. Feeds since have been the same, he is so content and relaxed while drinking. He still gets reflux when lying down so we are going back to the doctor for possible increase of medication/change of medication, but we will be sticking with Novalac Reflux as it's made a huge difference! Reliable- Works for silent reflux No scoop system which is frustrating, expensiveSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So far so good
Our little bub has silent reflux which peaked at 3-4 months. She is a happy baby most hours of the day except when drinking, burping, lying down, hiccups. She would cough and splatter while drinking coming off the bottle several times in one feed crying, a struggle for her to finish a decent drink, cried while lying down, cried with hiccups (which usually occurred after every feed) cried when burped (acid liquid rising and going back down to stomach every burp - ouch!!!), she doesn't spew or bring up anything usually, it just rises and falls in...Read more
her esophagus, if she ever brings anything up its usually acid smelling clear liquid with bits of partially digested milk. We tried so many formulas, some were better than others but none of which she could first just drink straight without splattering and coughing and that wouldn't rise up her esophagus, these include the usa made s26 gold (when it was made in ireland she was ok - but that could be timing of the peak as well), mamia gold (great price, but didnt work) karicare gold (nope) karicare goat (terrible and probably made the acid worse) nan ha gold (which is really only for babies with suspected allergies or can help with reflux because it quickly leaves the tummy - still had reflux), then we finally tried novalac reflux - i was a bit of a sceptic at first, but first bottle, bub frank in one go without flinching or crying, burped straight away, no crying, i still kept her upright for at least half hour, but was content and happy. Feeds since have been the same, drinks without interruption, burps well and sleeps well. She has always self settled even with reflux, we comforted her from the side if the cot and always left her awake so she knows how to sleep and soothe herself, she was cat napping though and stirring in the am of the night not hungry but in a little discomfort. So far she has been napping 1.5-2 hrs and sleeping ok. The only thing i'm worries about is how will her poops go, she has always been going every second or third day, doesn't stain or cry, good consistency, so far she hasn't had a novolac reflux poop, if its all good there i give this formula a 5 star!!!!!!!!! Not thick in the bottle, smells better than most formulas, reputable company, reasonably priced. Do not like the scoop system - novalac please make a scoop scraper in the tin, mums are busy and grabbing a knife every time is annoying!!!! :-)1 comment
Update: poops are okay... Very happy!!!! So far so good... O to second tin now :-)

This if perfect!!
My poor baby has had really bad reflux from the day he was born. He would throw up after each and every feed! We tried S26 newborn, comfort, AR and Lactose free. We would need to change him several times a day and also ourselves as we constantly wore his milk !! Even 3 hours after a feed he would still be throwing up, I dont mean the odd spill, I mean heaps!!! we would wear it down our whole tshirt with just one burp or even without a burp!! all day and every day!! He had an ultrasound to rule out pyloric stenosis,we kept him raised for 40 min...Read more
s after each feed which was hard through the night, raised his bed and changing area, burped after each fluid ounce, tried gaviscon sachets ( which worked for 3 days ) and after 10 weeks I was at my wits end! We felt so sorry for our little baby as you could see that all he wanted was a nice bath and warm bottle but he would always throw up. He was exhausted and fed up you could just see it. We posted on facebook for any and all suggestions to help our baby, went to 3 CAFHS nurses, our gp and 2 pediatricians which prescribed him Losec. After no relief at all for the poor thing we turned to the internet once again on formulas to help him when I came across this sight and after reading all the reviews from these parents I decided to give it a go. After using Novalac reflux with thickener for the first time we noticed an instant improvement!! for the first time since he was born, he didnt bring it back up!! It worked instantly. I cried when we finally found a formula that suited his little body. I love this formula so much I will be using it for my next baby and will reccommend it to any other parents having the same trouble. thankyou Novalac we now have a content baby. The second night on this formula he slept from 9:30pm til 5am the next morning for the first time since being born!! I am so happy to see him happy.4 comments
why did you use a thickener?
because without it he would throw it back up. His bottle needed to be a thickshake to keep it down. I slowly put less and less thickener in his bottle and he responded well.
Oh wow! My child sounds the same :( I feel the pain you went through....we are still currently going through it. It did settle down after being on Losec for a few months....Silly me thought now that h... Read more

Life saver !!!
Absolutely the best formula for baboes with reflux we tried over $500 worth of formula and this one saved our lives. I know over dramtaic but when you have a screaming newborn from acid reflux and than one formula u finally try works its pure bliss. So many ppl I know are using this for their babies who suffer reflux. Its skim milk based not whey like most formulas which doesnt hurt their tummies and it doesnt thicken until it hit their tummies either. Truely helps. Love it worth the extra bit of money thank you novalac
Live saver !!!
It may not fully stop the vomiting but def stops the burning his a happy chucker compared to a screaming one

Next best product to Novalac Sweet Dreams
I owe it to many mummies and daddies out there who are watching their little one suffer, that I found this product to be life saver. I brought my DS to a specialised pead at 6 or 7 weeks explaining breast milk have run out and S26 gives him a terrible reflux. DS was always aggravated and unsettled sleeps only 20-30 minutes and is awake with cries of pain, so all sorts of theories were concocted, the pead recommended hydrolysed formulas. I must have threw away at least 20+ cans of milk e.g S26, karicare, elecare, just to name a few. Went into th...Read more
e chemist and bought a can of Sweet Dreams (probably can #21), to my surprise the product worked like a charm. Gave my son enough sleep to grow and no reflux when awake. Since it works, I thought I might try the Reflux formula. Baby seems to have no issues with a 1 out of 20 chance of regurgitation. No issues of constipation like other people reported. The formula needs to be exactly a certain temperature in order to dissolve, at first I used a mini battery operated whisker, which worked perfectly, and then quickly learnt that it needs to at a certain temperature to dissolve. I would put 60ml boiling hot water and then another 90ml boiled cooled water + 5 scoops formula - dissolves perfectly when shaken well. My DS is now 9 months, and were starting to move off to another formula called NAN Comfort stage 2. - review edited after 5 years - happy to report my DS is now 5 years and healthy :) Reliable, does what it says in the can Was the most expensive on the shelf, but it doesn't bother me because it works. Temperature specific for dissolving the formulaSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Ok- but won't be buying another tin
After reading so many positive reviews on here about it I was so excited to try this formula. Having had my reflux baby on karicare gold and adding thickener, I wanted a formula that was all in one. I tried karicare AR but it just made my baby constipated. This novalac reflux still made my baby constipated and therefore, the extra cost, smaller tin and difficulty in getting the product is certainly not worth it. He still did small vomits on this product which were much more chunky than his small vomits on karicare AR.
Stopped some vomitting
Expensive, made my baby constipated

Not the best choice
This formula did nothing for my baby, he had more reflux from this milk than before, also I believe it takes a long time to become thick in their tummies, so they posset the milk up again. He also got more cramps and winds from the first bottle he drank.
Takes too long to thicken in baby's tummy, expensive and hard to find

Instant relief
My 6 month old son's had terrible reflux since day 1, and for longer than my daughter had it. He'd bring up more than the acceptable 'teaspoon(s)' after feeds, and for 1-2 hours after (during the 3rd he'd usually sleep).
He would generally also not sleep for longer than 3 hours at a time during the night (sometimes we'd get 6 between feed, but usually it was 3 hrs - feed - 3 hrs - feed etc, from around 7pm til 7am), so he'd end up having more bottles than he should for his age (as he wasn't keeping enough down).
The paediatrician recomm...Read more
ended Novalac Reflux and the difference was instant. Novalac Reflux thickens when it hits the stomach due to the special cornstarch ingredient, and this thickness makes it harder to bring up (similar to starting them on solids, which he's only just accepting now). The first time we gave it to him, we got 2 possets, each <1 teaspon. That's it. That night he slept 8 hours between 7pm and 3am... many parents would know that strange feeling of having got more sleep than that to which you've become accustomed, quite surreal. We can now comfortably leave him in his cot without having to change multiple bibs, singlets, wraps etc. Novalac, you're a lifesaver! Like it says on the tin, not for general use (ie only in the presence of issues, and with medical guidance), but what a difference! Instant effect; results exactly as promised; happy, fulfilled baby Thicker to mix (despite claims), but only slightly so. A good shake is sufficientSimilar opinion? Easy to digest
I've been giving my baby this formula since he was 10 weeks old, we tried on many different formulas before including aptamil antireflux and none of them seemed to be good for him. He was gassy and unsettled all the time and he had several choking episodes as well. When we started giving him Novalac reflux his digestion started to improve, he was a lot less gassy and he soon started sleeping through the night. Still spitting up in between feedings but no choking at all. This formula was a life saver, my little one is 6 months old now and he'...Read more
s much better from his reflux but I can't think of switching to a different formula because this one has worked perfect for him. I also like the fact that it contains Omega 3 and 6 which is good for brain and eye development. It makes the bottles a bit oily though. It is more expensive than the rest of the formulas but worthy. Also, it is only sold at some chemists so we need to have a good stock. It's easy to diggest. Reliable brand. Not as thick as other formulas as it thickens in the stomach It makes teats and bottles a bit oily. It is a bit pricey but well worth the money. Can't be easily found in other places than big chemistsSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
