Garbage in the bin where it belongs
I have 2 of these well 1 now. Dumb piece of s design completely lacks ports no audio no power switch ect. 16+3gb wth what is this 2009 $349 for these specs. Every single time I reboot this device the remote doesn't work at all Bluetooth signal is lost, causing me to have to remove & reinsert AAA batteries in remote, everything is updated. omg Nvidia your an embarrassment you should be ashamed yourselves I don't even know how to pronounce your dumb name it just flows so great. Triangle shaped remote, again another dumb design. The box is a dumb
... Read moredesign got to make it look like some space craft. Also thanks for making the power cable proprietary you know people always love that, that'll keep em coming back. Old WD boxed are better at least they work after a reboot. Good bye individual shield amateur ba bla ba bla ba blaCould have been so good, but it’s not
Nvidia should be ashamed for slowly bricking this once great device.
Two major reasons I purchased the device, for game streaming and Plex media server, both no longer work as once promised. The game streaming facility has recently been shutdown entirely. How you can advertise a product does something and then blatantly remove it is just disgusting. Furthermore I’ve had to factory reset my Shield multiple times due to an incessant internal bug that gradually fills the storage capacity, making it non responsive. Had I known it would have these issues, I would have never purchased the shield. Has definitely left me with a sour taste for Nvidia products more generally.
The worst tech product I've used in 25 years
I have had several of these. I keep coming back to it because it's the only way to stream dolby TrueHD. But I absolutely hate it. I have issues with it absolutely every single time I use it. It won't power on, the attached storage is gone; plex won't start, plex server is gone, an update has bricked features, it crashes streaming high-res content. It's an absolute nightmare.
Fantastic unit for streaming
Great product, best remote I have used. In a dark room its perfect, the remote as soon you move it it lights up. Very easy to navigate, highly reccommend. Great product

still best streamer.
tried chromecast recently and abysmal apalling company to deal with so forget that crap.
apple tv 4k gen 1 is much better than chromecast when cheap but software issues and iffy remote make them clearly inferior to the still overpriced here shield pro.
it was best years ago and remains so because of apple's software and support issues.
Absolutely awesome
After years of plugging in my hard drives to my WD media players it was time for an upgrade when a lot of files were not able to being played and updates weren't available. Yes, a lot of tv's these days have the capability to play usb devices but the ones I had, struggled to read anything over 2tb.
So after doing some research I thought I would try the Nvidia Shield TV Pro and I am certainly glad I did, so much so that we currently have 2 in the house at this stage and will probably end up with more. The 2 usb ports read all my hard drives (up
The best media box yet
I've used many different streaming devices before: Chromecast, Roku sticks, various TV's built in apps, and Amazon Fire TV cube. Out of these, the 4k Amazon Fire cube was my favourite and I bought one for every TV in my house, but over time the ads for Amazon Prime shows became frustrating, and navigating within and switching between apps there is definitely a lag, which for me is very annoying. After doing extensive research online, I found that the NVIDIA Shield Pro had excellent reviews and had abilities that went way beyond those of any of
... Read morethe other devices. I decided to purchase the NVIDIA Shield Pro (2019) at dick smith online, and I am definitely pleased with the device. One of the most noticeable improvements, for me, is the processing power. The lack of lag when navigating menus or switching between devices is by far the lowest of any streaming device I've used before, and for this reason alone I highly recommend it. Also the remote control is excellent I also purchased the NVIDIA gaming controller which I think is excellent. When you hit the power button it turns on the TV as well as waking up the Shield Pro. The volume buttons control my receiver, which is just how I like it. In addition to these features, the variety of apps that you can download is excellent. Even if an app is not designed for the shield TV, there are ways to side load Android apps onto the device. Another excellent feature is the ability to stream PC games and easily connect any Bluetooth controller, including my PS4, XBox One, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers. Both Nvidia's Game Stream and Steam Link services both work on this device to allow streaming games from your PC to the Shield Pro. I haven't used it because GeForce now isn't available in Australia as yet, but the GeForce Now cloud based gaming service also works on the Shield Pro, and of course there are Android games and emulators that you can install and run on the Shield Pro. While it is pricey compared to other streaming devices, I absolutely think it's worth paying the extra money to have these additional features. If you're considering a streaming player and want something top of the line then the usual, you should seriously consider looking into the Shield Pro.
I choose the right media player
The 4K video quality was awesome. And It enabled me to enjoy Dolby Atmos sound from Netflix to My bose soundtouch.
First time setting might be a bit difficult if you don’t have good understanding of ip address etc. in overall i am satisfied with this purchase
A major pain to set up, but worth it.
There were some minor hurdles before I even plugged it in.
The Pro was released in 2017 with a small remote & slow hardware. THIS model is discontinued.
The 2022 version has a larger remote & fast hardware, but all review tests show it to have identical specs.
Mine had a tiny sticker saying 2020, but I'm guessing that's just a manufacture date.
Apart from the remote, they are all IDENTICAL with the same name & packaging.
Please ensure yours has the Tegra X1+ processor.
Also, I was starting to think that getting mine out of the cardboard box was a sick prank.
NVIDIA 4K hardware, Andriod OS, Google GUI & Google Play apps.
Great video quality. Very impressed +++.
