Meets expectations, but too noisy in a small space

published

We had the PIU Cube 16 for just 24 hours before we returned it for a full refund as it was just too noisy in our small lounge room. The Good Guys explained to us that portable air conditioners are always noisy but that this model is in fact one of the most quiet to run. The baseline noise drowned out any TV volume so it may not be for everyone. However, it worked perfectly in generating large amounts of ultra cooled air and was a welcome addition in the heat so I would recommend it if you had a larger space that might dampen the running noise.

Purchased in at The Good Guys Online store for $780.

It's not perfect and the first one packed up on me

published

Got one of these for our small shead out the back. The first one lasted a week and had to be returned because it stopped blowing cold air. The second one has faired itself in the heat but at 40 degrees or fails big but when cooling lower temperatures it dose well.

This thing leaks more than a drunk at Christmas

published

The amount of water that comes out of this thing is insane. 2 litres a night at least when being used a fair bit. If you have a plug in, it won't make it through a night of operation. Does an ok job cooling, has defninitely saved us on some hot nights.
We can sleep with it on, so it's not too loud.
Not being able to direct the air is some crap.

Not that good

published

I bought one of these last year and I am quite split on using it in the future. It does its job okay but I do have a problem with its loud noise. I also have experienced some problems with the air flow. The noise has made it quite bad for using it in my bedroom when I sleep.

does cool down a room. but very noisy

published

bought this in harvey norman, recommend by a sales, got a discount price from him. It does the job in a 3 ×3 m room. kept the room quit cold in 40 degree days. however, it is very noisy, can not go to sleep with it is on. If you keep it outside your bed room, it would be better.

Finally started...

published

After a year in storage, it took about 20 minutes to start from the flashing 8, l shook and slapped the bloody thing and off it slowly went thinking the fan may have been stuck. Works fine, noise won't bother. Why is there a water plug in the back, will it leak condensation, do l need a tray? Thank you all.

Olimpia Splendid Piu Cube 16

Please my Aircon keep tripping off after some time blowing cool air. I have connected a device that increases the voltage of my current to 5000kv but the compressor keep tripping off after it runs for say...5mins or more. And the drainage point drains too much water now compare to before.
