I used to my fan every night even in winter, suddenly it takes more than 20 mins to start and now has a bad smell to it not like the other smell people are complaining about. can this be due to overuse or just need to be cleaned?

If it doesnt turn on as soon as you turn it on it has an electrical fault and is a fire hazard and you should stop using it straight away. Funny smells can also be a sign of electrical hazard.

Hi we bought a tower fan OT600E just over 12 months ago. It’s has been working great, perfect for our needs. However, the fan has stopped working. All other functions seem to work as in it still oscillates, the remote works, it indicates on the screen the change of speed but the fan itself does not spin. We bought the fan in Harvey Norman in Sydney, since then we have relocated to Singapore. Would Harvey Norman in Singapore fix or replace the fan? Or has Omega a service department in Singspore?

Does anyone know how to clean on the inside of the fan? There appears to be a massive dust ball collected at the base INSIDE the fan, and it's making a lot of noise even at the lowest setting. Thanks in advance.

Alexis P.Omega Altise

Good morning,
Cleaning instructions for the OT600E can be found on page 5 of the instruction manual
Care and Maintenance
1. Always disconnect the cord from the electrical outlet when cleaning your fan.
2. Light accumulated dust may be removed from the fan with a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner using the dusting brush attachment.
3. Wipe the exterior surfaces of the fan occasionally with a cloth moistened (not dripping wet) with a mild soap solution. Dry the case thoroughly with a soft dry cloth before operating the fan.
4. Avoid the use of gasoline, benzine, thinner etc as they may result in damage to the fan.
If we can assist further please contact our customer care team on 1300 739 033.

I was spinning the fan around and it made clicking sounds which are normal but I spun it too much and now it doesnt make the sounds and when I press the osc button it doesn't spin...help???

I believe you've broken it. Most likely, the clicking sounds you're hearing are the gears that drive it. If you've continued to try spin it you'll wear out or break them, hence why it doesn't spin now.

So is it really worth buying one? What's with the smell coming out of the fan that a few people have mentioned?

It's a great fan if not for the gas/ burnt smell. I even took one back and replaced it thinking the first one was faulty. But the second one the same. The light is quite bright also which is annoying in the dark. I ended up getting the sunbeam one similar and it's great.

I wouldn’t buy. It seems to have a fan that breaks very easily

How do you change the temp?

It is a fan only, not an air conditioner.

The temp on the screen is the temperature in your room. You cannot change the temperature on the fan.

I bought an Altise OT600E in 2009 and hardly used it as normally we have our central air conditioner switched on, on very hot days. But yesterday which was very very hot, I wanted to use my tower fan as I was alone at home. I tried switching on my tower fan and it worked but I couldnt change the speed. Then I switched it off and tried switching on again and this time I couldnt switch it on with the remote control or the control pad. Sometimes I can switch it on by pressing the speed button. Is it that I have not used the fan for a long time and that is why it has spoilt?

Do you try to switch it on or change speed from the tower itself?
What happens of you try to switch it on from the remote? If it won't work both way I think you have a problem with the tower. If it works from the remote then it's only a problem of buttons..
Not worth fixing them. I saw a lady bargain one in H Norman for $70

Clara

Tuxedomoon thanks for taking your time to answer my question. Yeah both ways dont work now. Will take your advice and get a new one.
Have a good day!
