I have a oricom speaker/mic and was wondering what the jack on the speaker/mic is for?
Hi Nat, if you are referencing the additional jack on the speaker mic, that’s there as an option to plug an alternate speaker in like in-ear headphone or similar. Hope that helps! Oricom
Thanks

Purchased this about a year ago when the bushfires were raging. At the time it seemed to work ok. After the fires I fully charged it and put it away until it was needed again. Got it out last week before going on a fishing trip because I’d be out of mobile range. To my disgust it won’t even turn on now despite the charger saying it’s fully charged. I don’t think I have the receipt for it now so am I up for a new one? I don’t think it’s worth buying a new battery when I can’t tell if that’s the actual problem.

Only had it a week and now bought a uniden 5w again. The oricom a week old and will just use as a spare radio.
The worst experience I’ve had with a radio, I guess it’s a cheap 5w radio and you get what you pay for.

Range wise being they are a 5watt unit, they equaled the same range as the in cab units. Depending on the terrain you are in at the time 3-5kms was not uncommon. Longer on open country.
Hi Poida, thanks for the message. Penny is correct in that the UHF5500 is the full 5 Watts. The terrain you are using the handheld will dictate the range, so remember elevation is key to maximise rang...
