Hi - my elderly Mother has been diagnosed with bursitis of the elbow & is in a lot of pain - could these be used for her? Or would the patches be too sticky & cause the skin to tear?
Hi Bronwyn,
I am very sorry to hear about your mothers condition....
Read more The OSMO Patch is effective at reducing inflammation and the associated pain due to elbow bursitis and the results to date have been good. The OSMO Patch contains absolutely no steroids or drugs and is used as an effective alternative to the current invasive treatments offered. They are designed to naturally drain excess fluid from the affected region while also stimulating blood flow to the area to promote healing. It will then be up to the person being treated to adequately rest the area and to identify and if possible avoid the cause. Occasionally some of our customers have underlying causes that continue to set off their condition, such as inflammatory disease (arthritis for example), however these individuals have found the OSMO Patch to be invaluable in effectively managing their associated pain and inflammation. Assuming that there is no underlying inflammatory disease or scarring, it possible avoid any physical or repetitive activities to allow recovery. The patches are worn during the night and discarded in the morning (single use). Usually one patch is worn each night (approx 8-10 hrs) over the affected area, although more than one may be worn if required. The patches should be used each consecutive night while she feels that she is improving. If she gets to a level where the improvement has plateaued then she can consider stopping using the patches and keep the balance there in case there is a flare up. Most of our customers only require 1 or 2 boxes (10 Patches per box), however as everyone's condition is different this can vary on occasions. For customers with chronic or underlying inflammatory conditions (such as osteoarthritis) the OSMO Patch is used effectively as required to manage flair-ups. Just to also let you know that there is a crustacean by-product within the ingredients, so if your mother is allergic to shellfish or seafood then the patches should not be used. Also there is an adhesive which is used to hold the patches in place and again if she is allergic to adhesives she may consider using a bandage or low irritant tape that she is familiar with as an alternative to hold the patch in place. Please note that the adhesives should not be used on extremely delicate or thin skin. Again if you mother is familiar with as an alternative tape or adhesive that she is able to use then this could be used in place of our adhesive to hold the patch in place. Re,member to always read the safety instructions included with the patches and use only as directed. I hope this information has been helpful and if your mother decides to try the OSMO Patch, then I hope you will other her some relief. Wishing you and your mother good health. Kind Regards Jordan Customer CareThank you very much Jordan for your most informative & helpful reply. I shall try these for my Mum & hope that I can get them in NZ. At 97 every little bit helps!! :) Thanks- Bronwyn.
do these patches cure chronic hip bursitis ? how long do you use them for ?
No!! They won't cure it. They certainly may help with the pain. Use them as long as you feel you need them. I personally would be seeing as surgeon about having a steroid injection into the affected ...
Read morearea as this often gives long term relief .Good luck!!Thank you, I have had steroids injections in the past, the last one 4 weeks ago with no relief, I used a patch last night and the pain is much less today, so I will do that for the time being. . thanks again
can an osmo patch be used on boils?
I had knee replacement surgery 4 months ago
And have some swelling. It feels just like when I got a baker cyst. Can you use the osmo patch after surgery?
Go back & see your surgeon about the swelling. I can't give you advice on this as I'm not medically trained. Good luck!!
How do I remove the patches, as I tore one off and have bruises on my shoulder
GENTLY!!!! I find if you can get an edge up, just roll it off. I've found that's the best way to get them off.
I wouldn't have thought the adhesive strong enough to leave a bruise though. You may have thin, sensitive skin???Hope this helps.
would the osmo patch help with nerve damage in hip?
It would possibly help the pain, but it's not going to fix the nerve damage. Only an orthopaedic surgeon can fix damaged nerves, and it may not be possible. Sorry to not have a more positive answer for you. Best of luck!
Would the osmo patch help for pinched nerve in lower back?
Probably not, but you can but try.
Personally, I have had great help from an osteopath with things like that. I do use the Osmo Patch for my sore bits, but if you do have a pinched nerve, it needs to be released. Hope this helps.
Thanks - I thought it was a long shot but since the patches stimulate the blood supply I was hoping it could help. I used them for bursitis and they apparently worked, unless it just got better soon after I started using the patches! We will see!
Good luck!!!
Is there any any unsafe material in osmo patch? My hip pain is worse having used one patch.
As far as I can tell, unless you are allergic to shellfish, there is not any ingredient in the patch that should make your hip pain worse. Maybe you have done something to aggravate your hip. Plenty o...

Hello, For bakers cyst behind my right knee where would you place the patch?
Is the patch safe to use? I have a large painful baker’s cyst for at least 5 months and so far Orthopedic and other doctors have not been able to help me. I have arthritis in my knee and hip.
I have purchased a single pack of 10 pieces, expensive by my stds ( Rs 3500 -per pack )
seeing the Utube video and i have purchased it for my Retrocalcaneal bursitis of my left heel.
Ar the end of consuming 4 units after application on 4 nights - no progress so far - though it seems to be creating the sweat overnight - visible on removing the tape in morning after 5 to 6hrs of sleep -
1) should I be required to use more patches beyond 1 pack of ten. ???
2) is there any outlet in India where I can purchase this rather than importing via Amazon ????
await your reply

Hi. I’ve Osmo patch before for ball of foot & found great relief. Now I’m wondering if I can use patch to reduce swelling in ankle post ankle reconstruction surgery. I am 16 weeks post operative. Have resumed light exercise at gym but swelling persists. Physio is able to drain fluid with massage but within 2 days it returns again whether I rest it or not.
Thank you.

Hello Nora,
Thank you for your enquiry. While the patches can help when there is inflammatory condition such as RA that has caused the Achilles enthesopathy, however while the patches can be used ...
Read morewhile on blood thinners, we do not recommend using the patched while you have an active DVT. Once you have been cleared of the DVT then you could consider using the patches at that time.Hi first time trying the patch over my shoulder for bursitis, when i took it off most of the powder was dry and had shifted to one side. No change in pain this morning. How do you keep it leveled and in full contact with the skin, when its on the shoulder? Iv taped it down with extra tape last night.
Thanks
Hello there,
Thanks for your enquiry. ...
Read more The patches can vary in the amount of fluid seen after removing from individual to individual. Such variations may range from very damp to hard and brittle with a few spots of dampness., however please remember that the patches work in 2 ways. Firstly by stimulating blood flow to the area and inducing healing and secondly by removing excess fluid. This is why it is best to concentrate on how the actual area is improving rather than the visual appearance of the patches. It is important that the patches are making very good contact with the skin. The patches should be applied just before bed (over the cyst at the back of the knee), otherwise they can become loose and lose contact with the skin. Also walking around a lot can make the powder collected at the bottom of the patch. The powder should be evenly spread before applying the patch and it is important that no cream or oils be used on the area of the skin where the patches are to be applied. Some people have reported that the patches work better if a fine mist of water is sprayed on the patch first before applying to the adhesive as this helps the patch to make good contact (be careful not to wet the adhesive). Also the use of a bandage or brace over the patch can be very good. Please read the following suggestions and hopefully one or more of them may help; Stop all exercise (including stretching) on the affected joint. Do not lift anything heavy with your arm Do not massage or probe the affected joint Avoid placing pressure on the area (do not sleep on that side) Do not ice the area if the injury is more than 3 days old but instead use try warm heat (assuming there is no infection) Do not apply any cream or oils before using the patches Ensure the the patch is applied firmly against the skin with no air pockets. Avoid placing pressure on the area (do not sleep on that side) I hope this information has been helpful. Please let me know if this helps. Occasionally some of our customers have underlying causes that continue to set off their condition, such as inflammatory disease (arthritis for example), however these individually have found the OSMO Patch to be invaluable in effectively managing their associated pain and inflammation. For customers with chronic or underlying inflammatory conditions (such as osteoarthritis) the OSMO Patch is used effectively as required to manage flair-ups. A good spot to place the patch with shoulder bursitis is just on the side of the shoulder where it starts to roll down the arm, which is just before the bone. The actual bursae is in this location and spans under the shoulder bone and back out in this area. When there is no bursitis present this helps the ball of the shoulder roll in as you raise your arm. When there is bursitis (inflammation on the bursa) the area is restricted and the bursa is constantly irritated as it catches on raising the arm. So we also do not recommend raising the arm above 90 Degrees and if possible avoid sleeping on your side (with the shoulder bursitis). The patches can also be placed over any area of pain. You may try moving it around the area to see what gives you the best relief. I hope this information is helpful and that the OSMO Patch will provide some relief. Wishing you and your family good health. Kind Regards Jordan. Customer CareGet an answer from our members and Osmo Patch representatives
