I have tried with agency - run by unfriendly people and they advised that It would be cheaper to buy their crap-product new then spare parts and maintenance. PRESUMABLY they prefer to through away and increase our Junk to export (No country would like to accept - recycled waste). Please write to Bunnings to stop feeding low quality products to Australian market.

When we switch on the motor. The blades are not automatically rotating... is it normal ... or it should automatically rotate ??
3 answers
I believe it should be unless the motor feels the blade is too heavy or Over Loaded .
So when we start the machine ... the blades should automatically rotate or not ?
Your blade should rotate but I suspect the belt is broken. These machines have a small pulley at the bottom of the motor which in turn drives a larger pulley, located beside it, by means of a belt. You can see it in the pdf at http://cdn0.blocksassets.com/assets/ozito/ozito-product-manuals/oD287rXQZeFMnvZ/ELM-300-Spare-Parts.pdf. To access the belt follow the instructions written by Ken in reply to Graham below. Unfortunately Ozito do not supply these belts - because they don't want us to fix them instead they want us to buy a new one and replace it in about four years (if it lasts that long). If the belt is not broken but you can hear a slipping sound then I suspect you have a problem with a bearing. The shaft which holds the blade had three bearings on it. There are two roller bearings, one at the top of the shaft and one at the bottom just above the blade. If they are faulty it would be possible to replace them with generic ones from a bearing supplier. Give them a shot of WD40 and see if that frees them up. If the belt is not broken and after oiling those two bearings you still cannot turn the large pulley then the fault will lie in the larger bearing inside the hub of the large pulley. This bearing consists of three arms shaped as an arc and located behind each other. Each arm has a bearing similar to the style of bearing in the big end of a car motor. I found that it appears that when the unit is assembled these bearings are packed with grease which allows them to ride around the main shaft (The same one which has the other bearings). These three arms are held in place with pressure from a spring on each. Why this set of bearings is even there is a mystery to me but they appear to be the reason why the pulley won't turn. The grease becomes dry and hard with time and binds the bearing surfaces to the shaft. I found the bearings become rough and a little pitted and the surface of the shaft has gunk adhering to it. You can't replace these bearings because you can't buy them (of course you could if they would supply the damn things). I cleaned the shaft and bearings with turps and sanded the sufaces with 400 grade wet and dry sandpaper to remove the rough surfaces and then packed them with grease. Now the big problem - how to get at them. You need to remove the large pulley which is a downright sod to get at. If you look carefully at the pulley you will see that it is a nylon plastic unit which fits over a central nylon unit on the shaft. This larger outer unit houses the springs which put pressure in the above described bearings. You need to remove this pulley from the unit but you don't need to remove the inner nylon hub. If you look at the unit from the side you will see that the large nylon pulley is attached to a metal plate by three screws, which seem impossible to remove, but all is not lost. You will find a small hole in the housing above the screws, and aligning with the screws when the hub is turned. Just use a screwdriver and long nose pliers to remove the screws. Carefully remove the pulley so as not to loose the springs and then you can clean everything up and repair it as I described. If the hub is very tight or jammed as I described spray it with WD40 (all this worked for me).
Another fault I notice people complaining about is intermittent starting or just failing to start. One problem could be a broken wire but I noticed these machines have a capacitor on the housing in front of the motor and faulty capacitors have been known to cause the troubles complained of. If that is the fault you could probably buy one of the same value from Jaycar but may have to use glue such as araldite to hold it in place. Hope that helps......Allan

Hi People, I'm changing the belt on a 1400 Electric mower. The big white plastic wheel which drives the blades is very tight and moves only slowly when I push it. Is this normal or is it shot? I feel it should turn easily. But no Youtube shows this. Can I make it easier to turn or is the bearing or whatever need changing.

The motor winding perhaps got busted and the cutoff switch is doing its job. Dealers advice - they do not sell the motor as spares as the costs would be same as the new mower about $100 or so. Unfortunately these type of products are dumped on our market and to deal with the scarp is becoming a major issue now for the government. Do not know who is to bell the CAT???

I have an Ozito 1100 Electric Mower. Last time I used it, it started to vibrate and make a very loud engine sound. What could I do, please
1 answer
I am not aware of the Ozito 1100 but after investigating the 1400, I am not confident that tbe Ozito produces, well designed quality product. They are just dumping low quality product with limited ed life, taking advantages of our slack Fair Trading Consumer rights. You may investigate if there are any smoke coming or is the motor area is very hot that will lead to some issues with motor possibly irreplaceable. Alternatively you may check if the blade is hitting the plastic covering flap. Ypu can open the flap and try to use it .
Graham Dasked
How easy is it to replace the belt.
2 answers
Hi Graham
The belt is encaged inside a plastic moulding under neath the motor assembly. First you have to open the cutting blade and expose the shaft . Then you need to open the top cover about 8 screws - some time you have to push the plastic covers to access the screws, and then you have to open the motor assembly after all the 12 to 16 Screws. After you get the motor and belt assembly out of the moulding then you should be able to replace the belt.
Please check the availability of the belt and costs as OZITO is notorious in providing spare parts - Not in stock.
Some of the screws are screwed to the plastic moulding and often it is possible to get busted and you may have to find a larger screws to fix.
I have the photos but the Product Review site is not allowing to upload photos even after all these years I do not know why.
GoodLuck

I have replaced this mower twice, I get maybe a good 8 months out of it before it starts to cut out on me, I smell the motor first then it over heats and stops. Eventually it will just not start. The motor will blow. I looked after both mowers well, carefull not to force it through long grass, always had the height adjustment at right level. My yard is not to large, so it shouldn’t have any reason to over heat. You get what you pay for I guess.
If its still under warranty they will give u another one. My wheel fell off and now t hey are getting me them

Is an electric mower easy to start?? Hubby has has a stroke and now I'd like to do the mowing but our other mower is pull cord to start and I dont have the strength needed. Thanks for any advice
1 answer
it has a red button that needs to be pushed while another bar is held on the handle. An emergency stop I guess. Yes it has a push button to start and is easier to manoeuvre than a shopping trolley.
I wish it had a lower cut setting which is my main
Gripe. But it is a great low cost and quiet mower
That performs really well.
It with need to be continually plugged into to a power point whilst using it. Which may mean a long extension cord to deal with depending on yard size. Or you could get the battery powered one, I have not used that one.
