My Panasonic DMR-BWT955GL was purchased on 27 Mayember 2020 and generally was performing well.
The only issue I have had with it is playing blu-ray disks (purchased – Region B). From day one it has been difficult to get the device to recognize and play them. I have only succeeded in playing one purchased blu-ray disk. Normal DVDs were playing OK. Today I have tried to play several blu-ray disks (purchased – Region B). At first there was sound but no video. After trying several disks, attempted to reset to shipping status. Now device is not working. When turned on - Hello - Setup – Region Select - NSW/NSW. Cursor can’t be moved – Screen shows DD1. Please help.

An hour or so later the reset appears to have completed and the problem may have been resolved.

I've had my DMR-BWT955 for around 3 months.
Often, when I turn it on it freezes on "Hello" and if I attempt to turn off using remote it remains on "Please wait" without turning off unless I disconnect at the power point, wait a few seconds and re-connect.
Also, the volume control on the remote occasionally does not work even though Panasonic sent me a replacement for the original. Marty

Have been using my new Panasonic DMR-BWT955 recorder for a week with no problems except, it does not have a program reminder option? Normally once you are in the program guide and on a channel. One click on the ok button should set a reminder and a second will set the record time. I have checked the option on previous recorders and it’s available, but for some reason it’s not available on the BWT955? Any opinions... cheers

Currently looking at DMR-BWT955GL or DMR-UBT1GL.

Looking at the machine specs,
1. ...."Recordings can be copied for viewing else where"...the BWT955 says No ...the UBT1 says Yes.
Why the differences and exactly are the consequences?

2. ..."Record directly to external storage"....the BWT955 says Yes ...the UBT1 says No.
Why the differences and exactly are the consequences?
Presume you record to HDD first...then transfer to the external HDD?

Rebards,
Bert

Just setting up the PVR and the aspect on my new Sony TV in TV mode fills the screen (all good)but in PVR mode I only get letterbox and the manual options via Aspect “Normal” “zoom” or “normal” don’t fill the screen and “side cut” does not provide a similar picture quality.
What can be done?

Purchased player 2 weeks ago and played my first Blu-ray movie. Movie freezes in the same spot 51 min into the movie. Tried taking disc out and replaying, but again freezes at the same spot. Also tried to fast forward from the spot when if freezes, and it still froze. Also made sure the disc was not dirty or have any marks on it. It is in perfect condition. Also dhecked machine is up to date with software, which it is.
I played same Blu-ray movie in my JVC Blu-Ray player and no problem with playing the movie, did not freeze in the same spot. Help please, as hubby is already threatening to throw it out!!! Thanks JB

I can't offer a reason, other than disc issues...I have 3 machines and no issues with any of them. The only steps you have taken appear to have been with the 'Same' disc...try another.

its not a 4K uhd Blue Ray Player, its is a normal Blue ray player that does 4k upscaling to make normal bluerays look better on a 4k capable tv. It will also play back some 4k media from usb etc

Hi - My DMR-955 has had an annoying problem since Day 1. When setting two or more concurrent timer recordings it fails to record all recordings as it loses the signal for the second/third recording. I can manually record multiple channels but not via timer. Stopping the current recording returns all channels to the unit. I have the same problem with my older dual channel tuner (DMR-450). It is very annoying to get ready to watch something you’ve recorded only to find that the recording failed. Panasonic Customer Support were unable to help - even though I’ve previously seen others write about this problem (without a solution)

Can a 3.0 USB connection be used on a USB HDD and what is the maximum size HDD that can be used on the DMR-BWT955?

USB 2...there appears to be no limit re 'Hard Drive' capacity...matching available file formats in/out is paramount...

Colin B

Does that mean that a HDD with a 3.0 USB connection wouldn't work? Most external HDD's available these days have a 3.0 connection rather than 2.0.

Hi, my btw-955 seems to drop audio for a second when I look at the program menu via the green tab and then back again. Any ideas why this would happen? Thanks

Hi Paul, no sorry we can't say why this would be happening. Best to start with a factory reset to see if this assists.

Hi Paul, did the reset solve the problem. I have the same issue. When starting from pause there is a delay in the audio so you have to rewind to catch what people said. Very frustrating. My previous Panasonics do not have this problem.
