Shaving satisfaction.

published

I have owned an ES4029 for 12 years on a daily basis and I am very happy with its performance. Unfortunately I dropped the foil and fractured it, however I am now going to purchase another ES4029 and I will then have a spare shaver which I can then interchange the foil. I have never used it wet, always dry shave.

Purchased in March 2021.

It's way better than you'd think

published

I have had two of this model and cannot see why it gets such negative reviews. The only drawback is the cost of replacement foils (as much as a new shaver).
Shaver Shop recommended the ES-ST29 as they said it was made in Japan as opposed to Chinese made for this one. I hesitate to say this but the Japanese model came out a distant last to the Chinese, and three times the price; the one good thing about the Jap model is the trimmer at the back
I have a heavy beard and after two days growth, this fella will give me a fairly smooth face after 10 minutes.

Hair today, Stubble Tomorrow...

published

I guess it depends upon your beard how effective it will be.On a 74 year old one it works quite well. I prefer to lather first and rinse it in warm water as I go...just dunking the head section in the water like a normal razor blade. It is water proof. I use it dry when I am travelling so I can travel lightly. It doesn't shave as closely as a Mach 3 blade but my wife says it is acceptable. I charge it overnight and use it daily for 14 days before a re-charge.

Works fine

published

Don't know why it gets such bad reviews, It works fine, probably not good for fine hair, at 45 bucks its ok and seems to be reasonably made, why we need to write more than thirty words in the review is the main problem I have with it....

Worst shaver I have ever owned or used.

published

This is by far the worst shaver I have ever owned. It's a wet/dry shaver. I haven't shaved with it wet so can't speak for that side of it but for a dry shave it is terrible. I don't have very thick facial hair and yet this shaver struggles to cut anything despite going over it from every conceivable angle, stretching the skin tight, etc. I get a better shave using the attached trimmer on it which is ridiculous.

A device that is often used incorrectly apparently. Although not perfect it's not the 1 star its bee

Good Product. People that say it doesn't work don't know how to use the shaver.

published

Use this shaver against the grain to get a close shave. If you have long hairs use the pop up trimmer to shorten them before using the foil part of the shaver. This is easier in front of a mirror. Once finished remove foil blow then rinse under tap. All to easy.

Does not shave!

published

This product is significantly different from the sample or description. ie It does not shave. It will not shave whiskers on a mans face. That's pretty basic. Do not buy.

Worst Shaver Ever

published

Doesn't cut a single hair no matter how long, short, course or fine. So disappointed. Don't know how Panasonic manage to sell these, why sell something that doesn't work for a simple purpose. If I lived closer to the city where I bought it I would have taken it back.

No use at all

published

The first electric shaver I've ever had, and one that I got as a present. No matter how long I go over the long and short hairs it does nothing. Doesn't matter if it's stubble or longer hairs there is no reductions in length. Really annoyed that people spent money to get me something that doesn't work.

Doesnt work

published

Paid $70 for this from Harvey Norman, Being Panasonic i would have thought it would have been good. But it does not shave at all, I can go over long and short hairs about 20 times and it does nothing. I do not know how they designed this shaver and still sell them. Do not buy. I recommend a Remington!

Load of Cr*p - Waste of Money

What a joke, waste of $70.00 - If there was a -1 star I would have voted it to that.
Do not buy it. DO NOT BUY IT! Stick to a shaver from the 80's and 90's, never
had any problems with mine so that's what I'm gonna' stick with.

what a waste of time

I've had some good shavers in the past, so it's not like designing a shaver is latest tech. I can't even believe panasonic put there name on this one. they should hang their heads in shame. I would need to take a hour to have shave with this product its just to weak.
design concept is good.
does not shave a mans beard

Very disappointed with the Panasonic ES4029

published

I bought this product without doing my research. It was on "special" . Unfortunately I have been very disappointed. It gives a very poor shave. Recently I dropped it and had to buy a replacement foil. Well, the foil costs almost as much as I paid for the new unit. Very sub-standard.
Looks nice and is wet and dry.
A wet bus ticket gives a better shave.

Rubbish Shaver and Expensive

published

I wouldn't honestly give a single star for this product, but seems that you can't choose that.

I bought this about a year ago and at the time it was being sold for $70 and I did not do any research to this shaver.

I have noticed that this shaver's battery life is just miserable, it takes almost half a day to charge it; and it doesn't seem to easily shave as a shaver is suppose to do so.
Reasonable quality for a somewhat entry level shaver
Expensive for what it is, Battery Life, Charging it takes for ever; Doesn't shave properly.

Totally useless

published

This shaver simply DOES NOT shave either wet or dry. A butter knife would possibly do a better job. Panasonic didn't seem at all bothered when I wrote to them regarding this and just suggested that we try a shaving cream but this was equally as ineffective. Would not recommend at all.

It didn't remove hair no matter how many times you went over your face.

Panasonic crew: I bought this for my 17 year old son, it does not remove whiskers either wet or dry. I tried on my on leg and nothing, went over a small section 100 times all different angles and removed nothing. Normal price $89.00. How can you sell something when you know it does not work at all? Please answer as I will be going to consumer protection. Very angry, you have tarnished your name.

Hi Mumsy,

To be fair with Panasonic, the shaver will shave but may only for other different people with less hair. The product when compared to my twelve dollar battery powered shaver that most people can buy from coles or woolies though at the tine of sale it was on a promotional offer which was normally close to tr twenty dollars. This works better than the Panasonic.

I think for most people, its best to properly spend more to get something decent. Shops like the Shaver Shop will normally give better advice than buying from the major stores.

Good luck on the Consumer Affairs, may be you should take it back to the store where you got it from about it being faulty?

Thx.

Panasonic had changed the design of all the cutting blades, the foil remained the same. In the old Shavers like the ES8026 which I used it for decades, the cutting blades were some solid little vertical knifes while moving right angle to the Foil, the cutting is perfect since when you shave, you pressed the foil toward the moving cutting blades, and it cut perfectly. Since this ES8026 is a cordless charging unit with an induction power base (Panasonic don't produce this advance technology anymore for the shavers), my induction power base went bad and I can't charge the ES8026 anymore, of course no spare unit from Panasonic. Then, I went to search another new Panasonic shavers hoped that I would get another perfect machine with the similar price tags, but, at first, Panasonic don't produce any cordless charging shaver anymore. And 2nd, they changed the design of the cutting blades for all of their shavers, to some hollow knifes, like a sheet of metal with cut out slots bend to form the cutting sheet - no solid individual cutting knifes anymore. The Cutting Sheet bend in the cutting action, eventually the shaving becomes less effective and slow and pulling your hairs. if the ES8026 is worth 98 marks, for all the new Panasonic shavers should be "FAIL"
