Hi Mike,
Thank you for your inquiry. ...
Read more Our information, as provided to us, states that Korandos fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), require an oil meeting Mercedes-Benz MB 229.51 specification. Enviro+ 5W-40 not only meets MB 229.51, it is approved by Mercedes-Benz for use against this specification. There is an approval on our website, https://www.penriteoil.com.au/, but for your convenience, you can also click this link https://www.penriteoil.com.au/manufacturer-approvals. I hope this helps with your query. Is this true synthetic oil or a group 3 hydrocracked from crude oil?
that is something the public might never know as not many people have the equipment to check for that sort of thing
Hi Nick,
HPR 5 is blended from Full Synthetic Base oils. Its formulation is proprietary company information belonging to the Penrite Oil Company. ...
Read morePenrite Full Synthetic oils can be blended from Group III, Group IV and Group V base oils depending on the specific products and their applications. Not all of our HPR range is synthetic but the grades that are synthetic, are manufactured using 100% synthetic base oil. See this link, https://www.penriteoil.com.au/info/category/1/Engine-Oils/999/What-are-BASE-OILS, for information which is in our Knowledge Centre, https://www.penriteoil.com.au/info/index. It may be worth noting here that “Hydrocracking” is a process of refining oils and is carried out on solvent refined Group I and Hydrocracked Group II base stocks. Group II base oils that are Severely Hydro-processed produce Group III base oils that are determined as Full Synthetic and are the main base stock used for most synthetic grade lubricants. It is also worth noting, that Base oil is only part of the blend of an engine oil along with the additive pack. We trust this helpsI am going to put HPR 50 in my 4 litre falcon motor. (10-30 is recommended) will it gum up my lifters and provide start up wear due to it's high viscosity? I have used 50 in a 125 motor cycle and it worked ok. I do not want gummed up lifters in my 4l falcon. 24 valve
Hi Wasa, This is way too heavy for a Falcon engine. You would be better off using HPR10 if it is burning oil. (Link to HPR 10: https://www.penriteoil.com.au/applications/car-4wd/engine-oils/hpr-10-10w...

There is an Australian flag on the packaging stating that it is Australian owned, but after going over the packaging with a magnifying glass I couldn’t find any information on which country it is actually manufactured in?
Penrite is 100% Australian owned & managed. The oils are 'made & blended' here in QLD & VIC but the best base stocks are sourced from various places. No oil company will reveal where their base stocks...
Read more come from, but Australian companies have been making a concerted effort to source their stock from the USA, Russia & Sth East Asia. We rely on Middle East for close to 40% but there has been huge increase in production in Indonesia & surrounding areas. With the proximity to Aust, this is the most likely future market. Hi Graham
There is a handy product selector on the Penrite web site (under "Tools" at the top of the home page). If you put in the year, model, engine typw it will provide the products for your car.

Yes it should be a good oil for your car. I have decided to buy cheaper oils and change the oil more often than pay for Penrites advertising/marketing.
Using Penrite is certainly a good option but you should go on the Penrite website and look up the particular grade of oil recommended for your Honda. You can also do this on the Penrite product select...

Read more Firstly, you are currently using a 15W-40. Now, checking what Nissan were asking for back then, according to information supplied to us, they were looking at either a 10W-50 or 15W-40 or 20W-50. Seeing as you are apparently having hard start issues with a 15W-40, there is no point returning to that nor a 20W-something. A 10W- is deemed suitable so that brings into calculations HPR Diesel 10, http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products.php?id_categ=1&id_brand=1&id_products=580. This is a semi-synthetic 10W-40 so you will still have a similar thickness when hot but a little better flow when cold. It will be a slightly lighter oil overall but we are dealing with a requirement of a better cold start. I also thought of HPR Diesel 5, http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products.php?id_categ=1&id_brand=1&id_products=7, which will certainly provide better starts but again, a lighter oil overall so you’d have to try it and see how the engine likes it. Some would say it would be too light for this car but I am not sure what kind of cold starts we are looking at. The other oil I would strongly consider is HPR Gas 10, http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products.php?id_categ=1&id_brand=1&id_products=10. Don’t worry about the name; it is formulated for many LPG cars and is based on a very good diesel engine oil formulation. It is a 10W-50 so thicker when hot but slightly lighter when cold. Might be an option as the car is not getting any younger. You are welcome to contact the Penrite Tech Team on 1300 736 748 or email [email protected]If you been using 15/40 motor oil normally on a motor would it have any effect changing to 5w40 synthetic Penrite Oil?
No it wouldn't. It depends on your engine and kms.
What car, year, engine and kms do you have?
No not really though 15/40 is a good grade of oil 5/40 is today's norm it won't hurt just checking it at first change over to make sure your engine is not burning the new product
