How do I know my 5612 is fully charged? Following instructions in the manual I downloaded, I started to charge it when I unpacked it, expecting the green light to flash. Instead, it shone steadily. The manual says it flashes while charging, but makes no mention of what happens when charging is complete, but I expected it to change and go steady. Am I right, and does this mean it is actually supplied fully charged? Second question do I have to be careful not to overcharge it, or does it take care of that automatically?

When fully charged, the light will either go steady or turn off, based on the model. You don't have to worry about overcharging it, although it's best to unplug it after the 8h of charge, removing the supply unit from the wall socket. We hope this answer your questions.
