Hi I have a Rover Hydro and it starts well but will not reverse or go forward. What is the problem?
Check steel rod at the back down the bottom the pokes out the bottom behind the rear tyre. It has a loop in it to put your finger. And puttin it in or out ( cant remember which one locks or disengages the gearbox. Try both possitions.
Hi all, my Rover Mini rider has lost its forward and reverse drive. The mower will not start and the brake pedal feels different. Could this be a broken drive belt. The mower was working fine until it hit some long wet grass and it stalled to engine. That's when I lost the forward motion. Any ideas would be great, Pete.
Can you get catcher with it and how much
No catcher supplied, Were priced @ $839-00 to suit 38/42" cut mowers from Rover dealers.
?John.
Hi can I get the 42 inch and what horse power is it kevin
Price?
Why is it when you let out the clutch the gear doesn't engage smoothly? Does the same thing occur on all the manual Mini Riders (30inch cut) or just mine?
Sorry Roger C, Mine is hydrostatic drive! Better off contacting dealer, or Rover direct.
Old John.
Any advice about the lever for engaging the blades? My lever is very loose and I think it is interfering with the safety interlock switch that is supposed to turn the mower off if you get out of your seat if the blades are engaged. My mower does not turn off and I've already had one accident (nearly lost a finger on Christmas Eve) foolishly checking things out under the mower without turning it off. I thought the blades were not engaged. Stupid me.
That's a job for the dealer you purchased mower from! If they find a fault, then they should notify Rover/MTD now Stanley/Black & Decker to look into this fault.
Old John.
Many thanks Old John from another "Old" John. The dealer I bought the mower from went out of business 12 months after I bought the machine in 2016. I contacted Rover/MTD and they commiserated with m...
Read moree about the problem but said it's out of warranty so take it to a local dealer. On further investigation I've found the blade engagement lever has so much play in it that the lever no longer makes contact with its cutout switch so the machine thinks the blades are always disengaged. After talking with a repairer I'm now attempting to replace the bolt, which turned out to be cross threaded in the welded on nut on the chassis, with another one and putting a nyloc nut on the end of the new bolt so it doesn't come adrift. Thanks again for replying. :)Problem sorted using a 1.5" bolt and nut, three washers (one of which fitted over the spacer to make a tighter space for the lever) and a nylon nut. Works a treat.
How much oil is required please?
Hi Kylie,
1400ml = 1.4 litres. It's in the manuals you received with your mower! Read the type of engine & for oil required also, there are 2 engines.
Old John.
Mine takes 1.4L too (manual type)
Thank you both for your help- much appreciated!
We brought it used & no manual to come with it. Tried to google manual also, which was no help
Gidday, to you all i was using my 30" rover mowing for about 1 hour just going slow and it just cut out and stopped, no noise, no rattle, so i checked the fuses, all ok turn the key and a slight click but starter does not engage, and wont turn over, any suggestions and how to fix many thanks in advance Rob.
Sorry Theresa I'm no mechanic. But remember it won't start if the blades are engaged, so you could try that. Also depress the brake/clutch when you turn the key. Otherwise you will need a mechanic.
Number of things to look at: petrol, then how long since mower was used as battery could be flat, plus last respondents quotes.
Old John
thanks to you guys, i have checked and done your suggestions - but no go so off to the mechanics, thanks again, Rob.
Looking to change the oil in my mini rider and while I’m at it would like to extend the oil drain with a hose and valve of some sort. Can anyone advise what they’ve done and where to buy?
Hi Bill P,
you should have received a plastic tube about 200mm long fits into hole to drain. It's an American Briggs & Stratton idea, my John Deere 2wd lawn mower has same thing.
John.
Thanks for the response John, I bought it 2nd hand and this was didn’t come with the mower
HI there Eon, on my 30" has just done the same thing checked fuses all ok, battery is new, fully charged, interested to know what your problem was and how you fixed it,
