My unit is one year old. My wand has sprung several pinholes. I had been using it with bleach to wash mold. Is bleach too strong a chemical to be used?
Steve T.asked
Used once, cleaned and put away. Tried to use it and motor won't run. Using fresh battery.
What's the problem?
1 answer
Most likely it's a defective on-off switch. Take it back with your receipt to Home Depot for a replacement.

I had similar issue -- Ryobi asked to place an order for the part with the service desk at Bunnings. Mine was within warranty so i just did a replacement with Bunnnings
I use mine regularly to spray tomatoes - never had a problem.
But if I did I would take it back to Bunnings - I think the warranty is about 3 years.

Why, after doing two lots of spraying, I went to flush with water and nothing happens. Motor running but no fluid coming through. The tubing from unit to end is all clear. What could be wrong?

My weed sprayer was purchased 2 years ago and worked very well although I found the switch hard to operate. It was only used twice. It didn't come on at all today. Tried a couple of different batteries in case that was the Issue. No luck. Any suggestions?

It looks like a faulty switch,I had a similar problem with a blower I contacted Ryobi and was told there was not a switch spare part available and to return the whole tool and they replaced the whole tool !! I met up with the Ryobi rep and had a coffee and I explained my situation and he said Ryobi wanted the whole tool back to check it out. I got a brand new blower for the sake of replacing a $2.00 switch. No complaints here Ryobi warranty was first rate.
That would be acceptable for me too.

Turn the pump on and nothing comes out. Have cleaned all parts
It does leak chemical all over me. Even though everything is tightened. Duty of care ryobi. Round up all over a person is not good.

I had two of them, both had a problem with the battery system. After the second one I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to use the product any more as it was faulty. I just use a hand sprayer now.
Hi Jak take it back and get your money back, these sprayers are the worst product Ryobi has put out there on the market and it's a world wide problem, I use Sylvan sprayers. I like Ryobi tools on the whole my wife and I have all the gardening ones in the 18volt and I have several in the petrol variety same as electric but petrol has way more power and is much quicker. Cheers John
Yep this sprayer is junk. The internal pump valve is very delicate.

I am really disappointed with the performance of my Ryobi spray ... it sprays for a little while then dribbles Any idea please? Have heaps of other Ryobi stuff and faultless

I found the same thing too. When it worked it goes well. But when the battery fitting got hard to use I returned it for another one that had the same issue. A shame as the idea is good.
Hi Mike Like you I have heaps of their products they all perform well. I wrote a review on this product it's the worst tool Ryobi have marketed look it up. I took mine back and purchased a Sylvan brand electric sprayer it's the best I own.
I have returned 3 of them and will return #4 tomorrow. Same problem everyone else is having. Very disappointing Ryobi product!

My sprayer is only a few months old and won't turn on. Is there somewhere to get it repaired?
1 answer
Hi Nancy, take it back to Bunnings and get a replacement or if you read my review on these sprayers buy another brand as I found this model was a shocker it didn't perform well.

After persisting for some time, regularly flushing rinsing and filtering my solution, I finally weakened and pulled the pump apart. I am completely underwhelmed by the performance of this unit. To call it a sprayer is false advertising.... it's a dribbler. Anyway I found that the diaphragm in the pump housing has been perforated by the sharp edges, this is a manufacturing fault and the unit should be repaired or replaced free of charge. What do you say Ryobi?

Only sprays ground level. Once I try and spray above head, it loses pressure. Any suggestions?

Remove the wand from the single hand working position on top of unit, you can spray with the wand and maintain the tank is level(or titled slightly forward)so as the pickup tube is still in the chemical.

liquid comes out of hole on side of wand. Any ideas?
2 answers
There is no holes in the wand that liquid comes out of except the one the wand screws onto in the trigger handle, if this isn't done up tight it can leak, if liquid is leaking out of anywhere else take it back and get another one or get a refund. I only use Sylvan electric sprayers now they work!
Take it back and get any manual one, it's working good.I have the got same issue.

If the unit will not spray and none of the hose parts are blocked is it likely to be a defective pump? I cannot find any troubleshooting information.
1 answer
HI Sam I had all sorts of problems with these. The pump is very likely the problem even ones that work are next to useless, low pressure. I would return it and look for a better brand that works I use Sylvan sprayers now. Ryobi apparently have a new sprayer in the pipeline as the problems with this model is world wide and they need to get it sorted to protect their name. .

I am having a difficult time removing the 18v battery from my garden sprayer and also my driver. Is there a trick on how to push the release buttons?
1 answer
Hi Abby, there is no trick to remove the battery on these sprayers, place the whole sprayer on a table or similar height object to keep it steady, grip the base of the battery in your strongest hand and squeeze the tabs on either side of the battery, equally press them in as far as they will go and pull battery out at the same time while the two tabs are pressed in, if these tabs are not pressed in equally the battery wont come out. My wife has small hands but still manages the batteries in all her other tools it can be a challenge she says!

The wand snapped at the handle when put down and fell off of a tree trunk under which I was spraying Arun lilies, can a new handpiece be purchased?

Ryobi have a 1800 helpline, they should be able to advise
Thanks Stevo, Bunnings never mentioned this.

I have purchased two of the sprayers now and alltho they are very handy the brittle measuring caps have both broken and now the units cant be used. Can RYOBI advise if replacement caps can be purchased separately? I need 2.

I have the same problem. Can't seem to find a replacement cap anywhere. Unit is useless now!
It actually cracked by being exposed to the sun in my shed.
Please advise where we can buy a measuring cap from?
My experience has been is to keep the receipt in the box and when the next cap cracks go for a replacement as its covered by the two year warranty. They should be making the caps out of a more flexible material. Great product as the actual sprayer never breaks down.
Bunnings was not able to find a part number for this cap! After digging around on the net I ordered a couple of replacements from an outfit in the US. https://www.partswarehouse.com/Homelite-Tank-Cap-ABS-HM-528547001-p/hm-528547001.htm The stock item indicates Homelite but the item in the picture has Ryobi on it. The postage from Parts Warehouse was about USD$6 which is very reasonable. Hope this helps. BTW I have three Ryobi sprayers and they are great.

Hi! I have recently bought the sprayer too and not impressed. Hit the trigger there is a short burst then drizzle only doesn't keep pressurised. Does the size of battery make a difference? Battery is fully charged.
1 answer
Hey mate, the battery won't make any difference other than run time. From what you describe your unit sounds defective. Check the instructions to make sure you're setup right and also check your seals to make sure there's no leaks. If you've done that without any joy take it back and get it swapped over.
Sprocketasked
Just purchased one as my Ryobi addiction needed a hit :) However it doesn't appear to be pressurizing even though the compressor is running. I am only getting a small drizzle from the end of the nozzle and an occasional burst. Did you have any similar issues?
1 answer
That doesn't sound right, is the pressure coming out from somewhere else? I originally didn't tighten the lid and liquid started coming out of there. Spin the end tip in and out for focussed and broad spray, and if you've already tried that without success then there could be an issue. If the seals seem alright then it's probably just a dud and get it swapped over.

Hi, I've found with manually pumped sprayers, that they nearly always start to dribble from the nozzle after a very short time - and then I throw them away because I don't like have weedspray dibbled onto myself. How often do you use this sprayer and has this happened to you?
1 answer
I've only used this three times so hasn't really been used enough to test durability. THat said, what you've described I haven't had with any of the other two manual pumps I've had, so maybe you've had a bad brand/batch?
