Hi, I bought a second hand Britax Safe-n-Sound Compaq from a good friend had a back up for my mother’s car. When my little one is in the seat rear facing, the harness straps won’t tighten, very hard to pull. I have to fiddle with the back for it to work. Though without my little one the straps can be easily pulled?

I have purchased the Safe n Sound Compaq MKII from a shop which is closing down. If I have any problems with the item where do I go to get it fixed? I live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and purchased the car seat from Buy4Baby Narrabeen.

Contact Britax directly. They will refer you to a service centre nearest you if and when you have any issues. It won't matter if the baby store has shut, as the warrantee is with Britax, not that shop.

We are looking at getting the COMPAQ MKII for our twins. Does anyone know if the buckle clips in one side at a time or do you have to put them together to clip it in?
We live 150km away from the closest baby store so it's hard to get there. Thank you

I've just bought this seat and am having issues with the buckle sitting too low and the straps cutting into my daughters thighs. I've adjusted the straps properly and tightened them and every other aspect of the seat is fine except the buckle height. I was told to try and adjust it but it can't adjusted? How can this be fixed please? It's quite irritating as i bought it for the fantastic safety rating and ERF options but unless I can get this buckle sitting correctly it's not very safe. Thank you.

How do you get the black plastic clips that are attacheched to the metal buckle on the back of the seat that hold the actual straps of the car seat? We'd really lile to clean the seat but these black plastic pieces are incredibly hard to get off so we can get the straps disconeected and take cover off!

I imagine it would be fine but would definitely be worth testing if a shop will allow you to do it.

I have recently bought this for my 5month old. The body harness strap is extremely difficult to loosen and tighten. Barely moving when I very firmly push down the release button. I have used many car seats in the past and know that this is not right.

Did you find a reason for the stiffness? I have been having the same problem. I have had to reach where the seatbelt feeds through and manually pull tight or loosen. I thought it had something to do with my car and rearward facing but it now faces forward and I still have the same problem..

Hi, We've just bought a Safe-n-Sound Compaq. The box we received had previously been opened and there was no packaging on the product. What I'm curious of is, is there meant to be a seatbelt lock for the car seatbelt to stop the car seatbelt from working lose under the base when it's placed in the rearward facing position?

I don't think it has a lock, not that I noticed anyway, but its never come loose.. There is a slot the belt goes through and that seems to keep it in place..

What are the differences between the old and new version? Is it still ok to purchase the older version as I have seen some Compaq seats for a cheaper price and I assume they must be the older version?

Hi I would contact Safe'n'Sound / Britax and ask about the safety concerns but i would assume if being sold brand new in a store they are safe but there is a lot of difference between the old model and the new for starter the new version coheres to the latest safety requirements and also is test to 15kg rear ward child where the old version is 12kg new has better head support and base is better and has no re-thread easy adjust harness but best bit is to check them out in person and call or look up Britax with you question :)

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Support C.Britax Safe-n-Sound

Hi Planet Hopping
There are a differences in the old version and the new. The 2010 Australian Standard version is based on shoulder height marker which indicate when you child needs to be moved to the next stage. Rear facing mode approx. 12mths and forward facing mode from approx. 12mths to 4yrs. The 15kg rear ward testing is only applicable when you child is under the shoulder height marker that indicates that the child needs to be turned to forward facing mode. The new Compaq has the new hassle free harness and slim base. The 2004 Australian Standard seat is weight based and is suitable from birth to 12kg in rear facing mode and from 12kg to 18kg in forward facing mode. Attached is a link to our website to the new Compaq http://www.britax.com.au/car-seats/compaq-2 Please feel free to call our team on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss the many differences in further detail.
