Mcbasked

I have two questions.
1. Can the vehicle seat be reclined somewhat to make the seat slightly more reclined than its recline position or does this interfere with the operation of the seat during a crash?

2. Can the metal clip for the top tether connect directly to the car's tether anchor point or do we need to install the bolt and anchor point that came with the seat into the cars? I assumed the bolt and connect is only needed if the veh8clr does not have it's own anchor point but the manual reads differently.

Hi Mcb, thanks for your questions.
1. The seat has two positions, upright and a semi recline however this is dependent on your vehicles back seat angle. If you have a specific vehicle where the back seat can recline further back, our restraints have only been tested in a standard reclined seat however please contact our consumer support team and ask for Alyssia so I can discuss this with you in further detail.

2. Yes, the tether strap connects directly onto the cars anchor point. The anchor bolt is an included accessory and is only used if required if you have an older style vehicle that does not have an anchor point (bar) attachment.

Thanks. Yes my vehicle 2008 Nissan Pathfinder can have the seatback more reclined and this is what I was wondering about. The default seatback position is very straight and upright so I'm wondering if I can recline it slightly.

Do I need to use a Seat belt locking clip for my maxi guard pro. I drive a 2022 Audi sedan. My daughters car seat installer said it was a necessity for safety and correct installation. If this is the case why are they not sold with the car seat?

1 answer
Britax Safe-n-Sound
Support C.Britax Safe-n-Sound

Hi Debbie W. Thanks for your question. Seat belt locking clips are available in various forms such as gated buckles as well as other after market accessories and these devices can be used as additional installation aids. The Britax Safe-n-Sound Maxi Guard Pro does not require the use of any additional installation devices/clips/buckles that are not already supplied with the product. However, if you have any concerns or uncertainty about the fitment of your car seat in your vehicle, we recommend seeking the advice of an accredited car seat fitter to check your car seat installation.
Britax child restraints are tested to meet the Australian standards (as supplied) when installed according to the manual. If there is anything we can assist you with in future, please feel free to contact our consumer support team on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Hi Daniel A, thanks for your question. Isofix has not been approved for forward facing harnessed/booster seats in Australia and an isofix belt cannot be retro fitted onto the seat. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our consumer support team on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Safe-n-Sound team.

Daniel A.
Daniel A.

Thanks for getting back to me, shame as many of the 0mth to 4yr Seats that become FORWARD facing are ISOFIX approved yet going up to a 4-8yr seat is not and considering how much safer ISOFIX is for child seats you'd think it would be something we are working towards.

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Support C.Britax Safe-n-Sound

Hi Daniel A, the Australian Standard only allows restraints suitable for children up to approximately 4 years to be connected to the cars' ISOFIX low anchorages. This is because the car's anchorages may not be suitable for heavier children. If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact our consumer support team and ask for Alyssia.
Kind regards, the safe-n-Sound team.

It is recommended to not have your child forward facing until at least 12 months old and walking when they have better core strength

Thanks for the reply. I was told by baby bounting staff the car seat is more suitable for 12 month, however I bought it as my boy is a bit bigger than his age, also the lables of the product mentioning can use from 6 months. Then I took it for installation and the guy told me that the seat is big for my son. To rest my mind, I exchanged the seat for Millenia SICT which is for newborn to 4 years.

Hi there, I have this seat for my 3.5yr old son in a Mazda CX9 and he gets terrible head flop. We did not have this issue in our previous car which was a Mazda CX5. I am wanting to purchase one of these seats for me 13mo soon but really worried about the head flop for him as he is smaller (meets entry marker already). The seat is already on the reclined option - is there anything else I can do to stop this head flop? I am worried about safety if we have an accident.

Hi there. I have a tall 7 year old (about 135cm tall). People keep saying we need to keep him in a car seat until he is 145cm as that is the height that a regular seat belt fits properly. He has outgrown other seats. Would this one fit him?

1 answer
Britax Safe-n-Sound
Support C.Britax Safe-n-Sound

Hi aimeeh001, thanks for your question. The Safe-n-Sound Maxi Guard Pro has an exit marker of 510mm approx. The Britax Safe-n-Sound Kid Guard (4-10 years approx.) has an Upper height marker position of 542mm approx. This is equivalent to a total standing height range between 135cm – 155cm. If your child is less than a total height of 145cm, you can seat them in the booster to determine fitment. If their shoulder is beneath the upper height marker, they can safely use this seat. If your child is taller than 145cm, and their shoulder height is under the upper height marker position, they can safely use this seat. If you have any further questions, please give us a call on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Safe-n-Sound team.

Hi there, we have this seat for my 3 year old daughter. Recently she has started loosening the straps while we’re driving. As you know the button to loosen the straps isn’t hidden and is within reach. Do you have any tips on how to stop the button being so accessible? Obviously I’ve given her a very stern lecture each time she has done it, but she’s a threenager! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t really. She must be pretty strong because I thought it was quite a task to get mine to adjust. It’s quite tight. Our little ones are all under 3 so I haven’t encountered that. You could try emailing them and see if they have a suggestion. They’re very helpful.

This has occurred with our family too (son when he was 2, now 3). We have overcome the issue with some stern discipline. Our 5yr old can now adjust his seat for different clothes and we just reach in and tighten. Best seat ever

Is it necessary to get this seat professionally fitted or can I do it myself?

Brenda. C
Brenda. C

No, my son fitted both of the seats they have in their cars and my step son fitted one out of the three they have. I didn’t want to fit the ones for my car (and my husband is simply not good at that kind of thing). It is my understanding that if you fit it yourself, some of the baby stores will check them if you bought it there. I think my step son had his checked.
