We currently have a Safe n Sound Millenia (0-4yo seat) which we love but our daughter's head flops when sleeping now that she's forward facing, even when set with the greatest recline possible (she's nearly 3yo)... we are looking at getting a Maxi Guard Pro for her to move into next, however concerned she'll have the same issue which really disruots her ability to sleep on long journeys... anyone had a similar experience? Is the Maxi Guard Pro recline greater than the Millenia? Thanks

Hey we have both, and my daughter had the same problem once I turned her forward facing in the millennia with her head flopping. No problems at all for either my girls (18mths and 3yrs) in the maxi guard pro :D

Britax recommends that you keep your little one rear facing as long as possible however If your little one doesn't meet the shoulder height marker to forward facing you should keep them rear facing until they reach the shoulder height marker. Hi I have this car seat and have just been involved in a minor car accident where I was rear ended. My car was at a complete stop and the person who hit me would of been going between 20-40kmph. My 2 year old was in his seat at the time of the accident, and it was enough to be jolted forward in our seats. Could you please advise me if I need to get my car seat replaced? Thank you

All Britax Safe-n-Sound child restraints are manufactured to Australian/New Zealand Standards AS/NZS1754 which requires us to advise users of child restraints to "Destroy the entire restraint if it has been in use in a severe crash, even if no damage is obvious". The joint Australian/New Zealand Standards committee CS/85, advise that this statement applies whether a child was in the child restraint or not. We consider a "severe crash" as being one where the main body structure of the vehicle is distorted. I've road tested various sizes and cant find anything kid sized that fits. Even a can of coke falls out because its so shallow. Not sure what exactly Britax were thinking when they tacked on this bent flimsy plastic circle.

Does this come with isofix? Already have the standard in 1sr car with isofix and love it and as just bought 2nd car today and fitted the maxi guard Pro NEW (bought a month ago waiting for car to arrive,) to discover it has No isofix.... Just harness.

No it doesn’t. I don’t think any type G seats (extended harnessing) have isofix due to the Australian standard not allowing isofix for seats designed to be used by older children (older than 4).

Hello, I’d like to know how easy this seat is to adjust to suit different aged children? I’m after a seat to go in a grandparents car that can be used to occasionally transport different aged grandchildren. Current ages of grandchildren are 6months, 10months, 14months and 3 years. Obviously there is a bit of a difference between 6months and 3years, so want to make sure the adjustments can be made by the grandparents quickly and easily themselves when needed. Very easy, simply pull a tab on the headrest. I use it for my three kids (7, 5 and 2) and change in a few times a week. Takes about 5 seconds.

No, it’s not a convertible booster and isn’t designed to be used with a seatbelt. But you can use the harnesses on an older child, my almost 8 year old is comfortable in it.

Hi! I would suggest keeping your child rear facing until minimum 2 years old. Forward facing places 300kg of pressure on a child’s neck when in an accident, where as rear facing it is only around 50kg. This can cause internal decaptiation as a child that young does not have the required neck muscles to help (until 4 years old!). I highly recommend the britax Graphene (for small cars) or the britax Milennia (for larger cars). These are both 0-4. I currently have a 10 month old in the graphene and a 4 year old in the maxi guard pro. Baby bunting has great prices for these!
We used it for our one year old a few times in short trips as we didn’t have a rear facing seat in our second car. You can technically use it from 6 months but if possible stick with rear facing

Does this seat have isofix and if not why?

ISOFIX low anchorages in cars are designed to withstand only those loads imposed by children aged up to approximately 4 years of age in a correctly fitted and approved ISOFIX compatible child restraint. This child restraint is not approved for use with the car's ISOFIX low anchorages.
The Australian standard prohibits isofix on seats designed to be used by older children (type G seats)

I am having trouble understanding the CREP test results. According to these results the Hi-Liner SG is rated 5 stars for protection and the Maxi Guard Pro is only rated 3 stars. We are looking for a seat for a 4 year old and tossing up between these two. We are told not to transition children from a harness until absolutely necessary, yet the unharnessed booster seat rates higher! Very confusing. Can anyone from Britax explain this?

The seat is secured using car seat belt. For other queries i believe you can either contact manufacturer or your local reseller.

Is the Maxi Guard Pro suitable for a very tall 4 year old? He's only just turned 4 but looks 6 at 117cm and I am struggling between wanting to put him in a harness when a booster without harness probably makes more sense in the long run; i.e. don't know how long he will actually fit into a G type harness seat. Anyone else with experience in this regard with tall children please?

Hi, does anyone have multiple MaxiGuard Pro's in their car? Just wondering if they would fit 3 across? We have a 2014 SnS AHR Compaq for baby and have purchased a Maxi Guard pro for our 3 year old since it is comparable width to other narrow car seats which boasts fiting 3 across in a standard sedan. I would be interested in a response from Britax on this too.

Yes! We did purchase the Maxi Guard Pro and are really happy with it for our 3 year old. We have a Mazda 323 sedan and have the Compaq AHR (which is currently rear facing) and the Maxi Guard Pro both fitted in it at the moment (not ready for 3 across yet but wanted the option should it arise). There is enough room for a child not in a car seat to sit between the two comfortably, but I don’t think a 3rd car seat will fit in our car - i’m not sure what the spacing guidelines are regarding safety for fitting 3 seats across... Maybe they would fit as a squeeze hard up against each other?... The Mazda 323 is regarded as a mid size car, but I’m sure in a larger car, like a Territory, a 3rd seat would fit ok. It’s a shame I can’t upload a picture to this feed.

To be honest I haven't tried the reclining feature since my husband installed it in. However according to the Britax website it offers 2 recline positions which provide additional comfort for your sleeping child. My baby goes it in like an 'L' shape but 45 degrees i.e. sort of sleeping position. He has no problems falling asleep in it perhaps because it is super padded.
The seat has recline options, we have ours in the middle recline, which is fixed once you install it, and bubs heads rarely flop forward. My kids usually sleep in their seat about 1.5 - 2 hours
It does recline, but only has two positions therefore I find my own 1 year old twins have a lot of head flop forward and find I need to pull over constantly to tilt their heads back into position. Based on this I wouldn't recommended the seats for anything less than 2 years old, simply because I worry about their breathing and what would happen in an accident.

I am looking at the Maxi Guard Pro for my 10 month old, the reviews online are quite good, but then I've also done a bit of research online and a lot of people are saying rear facing for as long as possible. If this is the case that rear facing is much safer, why is this seat targeted from 6 months+? Are they saying rear facing for as long as possible for rear facing seats only, and hence the maxi guard pro is forward facing so the technology is different or regardless it's safer to have them rear facing for as long as possible? So confusing as there is so much information out there. Thanks

It is always, always better to rear face for as long as possible, at least until they are over 2 years of age (ideally 3-4 years) when their neck muscles are strong enough to withstand the force of an accident and not be internally decapitated (!). This is a 6 month+ but that doesn't mean you need to put your child in it at 6 months. Babies and toddlers are usually happier rear facing with the recline as they can nap more comfortably.
I personally wouldn't recommend these seats for anything less than a 2 year old based on the amount of forward head flop my 1 year old twins have. If I had of known these seats were purely forward facing (and not followed many of these reviews as they were incorrect) I would not have purchased them and would have gone rear facing. I personally fear what will happen to my babies necks and head if I am in a collision.
