Really good for a run-about tablet

published

I've really enjoyed owning this tablet all these years. Only now is it beginning to show signs of slowing down due to being forgotten about by software updates and the like. I would still recommend this tablet if you can find it brand new. It would be perfect for school kids or students wanting an easy wifi enables tablet to do research and study on the move. Super useful in car rides too!

It's useful for work, but not for taking photos

published

I purchased this product back in 2016. It was on sale from JBHIFI. It's functional and useful for university. However the camera is terrible. Photos taken are blurry. So if anyone wants a tab to take photos, I would not recommend this device. On the other hand, for work and/or study related purposes, I suggest this device as it has everything

Nice slim model, good for travelers

published

I received this tablet as a bonus product when getting the Note 8. It is thinner than my other Samsung tablet so is handy for travelling. It is easy to use and hasnt had any glitches like my old one, mainly randomly turning itself off. It does everything i want and is handy when i need a bigger screen than the Note8.

Great tablet

published

The tablet is easy to use surprised since I’ve ised apple products all my life, the size of the tablet is great, it’s not to big and not to small so you can still watch movies or shows comfortably. I find tablets are easy to use as they are very straight forward.

Love it, near perfect.

published

Great tablet that is near faultless. Only down sides are low capacity of 16gb but is SD upgradeable so its not an issue and screen resolution isnt full hd. Does everything you would need a basic tablet to do. Great over wifi or 4G internet with great battery life, very bright well detailed screen and very user friendly.

Would recommend!

Great device!

published

A big improvement on my old samsung tablet. this tablet has a really crisp and bright display that is great for watching videos or netflix on. It's also pretty fast and responsive when you open apps or just flick between the screens. 8 inches is perfect, not too small but also not big like the 10 inch tablets. Audio seems to play a little quietly compared to my old tablet and I have to have the speakers turned just over half way, but not a big issue. Only downside is it is kind of heavy, however, I don't usually hold it when I use it I use it stood up in the official samsung case so it's not really an issue for me. It's a great tablet for a really great price, highly recommend

Does the job

published

Good tablet that does the job for the average user. Would have been better if it was more powerful but it's worth it at the price point it was offered at. Screen is good and no slowdowns as long as not too many apps are open at the same time.

A little slow but handy

published

This is perfect if you read alot of documents (for work, school, etc). Due to its aspect ratio it doesn't quite feel comfortable in one hand but it can be easily solved by buying a suction ring. I love that this has uptodate software rather than being generation behind like a lot of tablets out there. Pretty standard samsung experience, not too far from stock android. It does lag pretty quick, that just means that you have to be a bit judicious about closing programs. Would not recommend as a laptop/desktop replacement though.

Awesome little tablet!

published

I purchased this tablet as a portable entertainment device for the kids. Having 3g and unlimited Netflix included in the plan makes this great for long roadtrips. I also use it to check my emails and review items I may want to purchase instead of having to fire up the laptop. Highly recommended.

Easy to use tablet

published

I wanted a Samsung tablet because I was sick of using an Ipad and I am very happy with my decision and purchase. This tablet is a great size and easy to use. The screen is a decent size and the colour and resolution are great. I got mine on sale so it was very well priced too!

OK for the price, but is only good for casual browsing.

published

Purchased this tablet as part of a deal woth Telstra. Tablet is definitely fine to use for light internet browsing or viewing documents, but would not recommend it for doing work or playing games.
The keyboard is less than optimal at times, even compared to my phone. When typing on lengthy Word documents, the keyboard lags out and struggles to keep up with the typing.
The tablet often causes apps to crash due to them being too demanding, so using this tablet is more for convenience rather than productivity.

Mostly ok with a few odd issues

published

I love the size, the screen, the speed & the sound quality. Even the Samsung UI is surprisingly ok. It's the WiFi that I find baffling. Everytime I wake the tablet, the WiFi has turned itself off & has to be manually turned back on! Mum has the 10inch version & it does the same thing. Am yet to figure out why. Still glad I got this model though. Previously I've always bought cheap, low end tablets & paid the price in unreliability & sluggishness. I feel like I will definitely get a couple of years use out of this one.

Excellent size for my 3 year old

published

It's an excellent size for my 3 year old. I can download all the videos, apps and games that she wants onto it. It's a vital device for long car journeys. I couldn't do without this essential tablet to keep a hold of my sanity. It's also taken a few temper tandrums well. Having been thrown on the car floor a few times.

Good affordable tablet

published

This tablet is the best pice of technology I’ve bought recently, it’s the perfect size so you can use it either as a tablet or as your personal phone, is not too big so you can carry it easily in small bags and even I’ve put it in my pockets sometime. The only downside is the msterial that the back of the tablet is made of can feel a bit too plastic and with time scratches start to stand out very easily

Great little Tablet

published

Great for watching Netflix or using apps on when not at home.It doubles as a mobile phone too. It has a decent battery life and if not too big to fit in a glove compartment. It has decent storage if you insert a 256gb micro SD card. All round a nice tablet.

Excellent

published

Lower priced tablet option, was from a plan with telstra with a free tablet in 2015. Can only load one Web pages at a time, if you swap between the pages the others stop loading, can not stream hd from wifi, but for the price its amazing, very good solid tablet. Great for kids and small apps, especially on plane or work travel, amazing budget entry level tablet.

Galaxy Tab A 8.0" 4G

Hi,
Excuse my ignorance, but will this work using a SIM card? Like an oversized mobile basically. I noticed it says 4g, so I'm hoping that's what that means. If using wifi how safe is that?
Thanks

There are basically two versions of the Tab A.
The wifi version. Works on wifi not on a network.
The SIM card version called Tab A lte.
This takes a SIM and can be used like a mobile phone. It is a couple of hundred dollars more than the wifi version.

Galaxy Tab A 8.0" Wi-Fi

Thinking of getting one of these to use as an e-Reader. Will it do the job? I use Overdrive and borrow books from a library. Will it do this?

G'day Percy, yes, we've used this. Download APP from local library. How good it is will almost certainly depend on how good the app is .... but it's been fine for us.

Hey Percy,
I agree with Wisey. It will work well as an e-reader. I have a 7.0" Tab and have found it lighter and easier to handle than the 8.0" model.
