Washing Machines Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of washing machine would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Mashine broke down after 3 years
Bought this mashine for a reasonable price in November 2015. After 3 years had continuosly issues with the electronical settings (couldn`t choose washing programs, water level settings etc, anymore) and the start button hardly worked . Couldn`t claime any warranty anymore as the mashine was too old. Apparently the electrical board started to become rosty due to internal condensation. Now (4 years after purchase) the mashine totally broke. Won`t buy a Samsung again.
Purchased in November 2021.

Thanks Kath, Very much appreciate your response but no need to look further into this. Bought me a new machine from a different brand already.

Dangerous Samsung Washing Machine - can flood your house or burn it down!!
We bought this model from Smith City 4 years ago. We had problems starting the first day as it would shut down randomly in the middle of the washing process. Warranty service was a disaster!
Now 3 years later the machine has flooded our house as it would not stop when full. The damage caused is thousands $ and we have to replace it now. Never buy a Samsung washing machine, they can burn your house down or flood it and this is quite common as you can find out if you do some research.
Not only Samsung phones are crap but also the washing machines. Very disappointing and you ask yourself why they are allowed to sell such a dangerous machine in NZ.
Never Samsung again!
Purchased in March 2021 for $550.00.

Very practical
I have this washing machine 4 years ago .. It is wonderful and practical and can even be used for sensitive clothes but I would recommend putting it in a small bag

Compact, good for a light user
The unit is compact, and because of that reason, you might need a few cycles just to clean a family's worth of laundry. As a benchmark, a double mattress cover almost filled up the entire unit. The display is clear and shows a countdown timer of the wash. There are different wash modes with pre-programmed settings which yielded great results. The biggest gripe - and I can hear the tune in my head as of writing - is that after completion of the wash cycle, the device will play a Samsung-proprietary tune. Whilst it is not particularly loud, it is particularly long. So unless you want to be conditioned to the tune, I'll stay away.

Very quiet and but leaves lint on clothes
It generally cleans and rinses clothes well, but if you have dogs or clothes prone to produce lint then it may not get rid of those. Saying that, I love how quiet it is when it's washing. My favourite feature of this particular model is that it weighs your load first before telling you how much detergent you need to put in. It's only been two months since I bought this so I haven't tried out all its functions yet. But I'm happy satisfied with it so far.

Beware. Don't use if you are out of the house
The machine for the price is reasonably good and upto the other day have had no major issues. My son lives in an old unit where it is not possible to plumb the machine into the pipes. It discharges into the laundry tub. He has used the machine for the last year without a problem.
Last week he was out and the black guide that hangs hangs over the side of the tub failed. Under pressure the hose popped out and completely flooded the unit, out into the landing and through the floor into the unit below. It is so flimsy and the plastic has either ...Read more

Washing machine does a good job so far
A mid sized machine that is very easy to operate. The operating buttons are easy to follow. The filter is easy to clean and it washes our clothes well. The noisiest part is the tune it plays at the end to tell the machine is finished. Otherwise we don't know it is on. All good so far.

Good little washing machine, not perfect
There is more than enough space to fit a week's worth of washing (separating towels/sheets/clothes) for my household of 2. However, I find that when the cycle is done, if I have long sleeved tops or pants everything comes out a tangled mess, which can't be good for the clothes. The filter system seems to fail to catch fluff/lint as my black clothes always need a lint roll post-wash. I also don't like how there is no 'wool' option, as the delicate option is stuck on cold wash. That being said, we got it cheap as chips and for the price range, it is pretty good. Washes the clothes well on 'Fuzzy' mode, 'Quick' mode doesn't do much.

Great value for price
Great washing machine for price. Machine delivered within 1 business day and installed with no issues. Slim design means it fits perfectly in the limited space we have. No issues with washing clothes and fuzzy feature means washing machine is going after just two buttons are pressed. makes less noise than our last washing machine which is a plus. Still new so guess till will tell how it fairs after a few months but so far looking good.

This Samsung washing machine is the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned and their service is poo
Don't buy a Samsung washer save yourself from the horror and do you research first this machine has more recalls than anything I ever seen and the run around you get with the 1 8oo no service. I was on the phone for hrs with no results the machine has been broke for 3 weeks and counting. Run away from this machine it has one recall that if not repaired it could be harmful to you do your research.

a few extra functions and present music sounds
To be honest, I was thinking if i should buy a Samsung washing machine or not as I had been using Japanese white goods only. Considering the reasonable price, it seems do a good job. I like a tub cleaning function that old washing machines didn't have is great. I like the notification music very present and diamond stainless tab. 5.5kg is definitely for a single person.

Working Perfectly
Removes dirt from clothes and not much of noise. Digital screen . Easy to stop and start . Quick wash feature is so great. Dries your clothes almost 50 percent. Very good for a family of size 3 to 5. Use it almost 3 days a week. Works perfectly. No issues for the past 6 months

sounds like a scrap metal yard when its turned on
sounds like a scrap metal yard when its turned on & working!! its very very loud like an industrial work site! noise pollution !!
-when the cycle changes eg wash to spin it has a big gap inbetween the cycle, lots of time passess before it rinses & the last spin cycle is way short
-i am scared it will explode or catch fire given its history & knowing that the actual metal parts inside might be cheap & nasty like the ones that were retracted as samsung has not published that the current models have ??? new & improved ??, & theres no photos by samsung to show any improvements have been done

horrible
Whilst still brand new, my washing machine caught on fire and filled my laundry with smoke. This is very dangerous as most people leave their washing machine to finish its cycle while they are not home. I thankfully got refunded in full and brought a different brand of washing machine. Would not recommend to anyone!

What a bargain this washing machine turned out to be! Samsung WA55H4000SW 5.5KG Top Loader Washing M
I got my Samsung WA55H4000SW 5.5KG Top Loader washing machine from Appliances Online. They delivered the washing machine and hooked it up for me.
The digital key layout and functionality on this washing machine is very user friendly and I find that it is quite intuitive to use. The washing machine itself is a compact unit which also has a built in lint collection filter. My previous washing machine did not have a lint collecting mechanism and my clothes always came out with excess lint. With this washing machine - my previous problem is now ...Read more
gone. I can get a quick washing cycle finished in about 32 minutes on a full load. The motor seems to be relatively strong. The washing afterwards is pretty dry after the spin cycles. This also translates to a rapid hanging dry time. With regards to the actual washing machine - it gets my clothes clean. Does it's job quickly and quietly. Things I like about this washing machine: 1) Tempered glass lid (see through) 2) Seems to have a strong motorSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

My problem with my Samsung washing machine is similar. I do regular tub cleans but have experienced small brown pieces like bits of brown leaves sticking to my washing. Apart from this the machine works fine. I did a dry run as it were on lowest setting with no clothes in the washer. When the machine did the empty cycle I strained the water through a fine sieve. In the sieve were all these little pieces of brownish? stuff that has been clinging to my washing. Peter

Hi Peter, we recommend for you to regularly maintain your unit such as cleaning the filter net, the pump filter and the detergent compartment to see if this improves your wash cycle. We have provided a link below to help guide you.

I have this same problem and the magic filter isnt the best I had to remove the inside part that spins around and it was black as underneath. This only happens on a warm wash aswell. Basically only having one filter is the problem of this for sure.
