Delicate and Fragile
The B450 certainly looks like it should be tough, the body of the brushcutter is all metal construction and everything has a solid feel to it.
But ... the head supplied with the B450 is a weak and flimsy thing that cannot tolerate any sort of impact. As soon as it hits anything, the head flies apart shooting the internal guides and springs everywhere.
I previously owned a Shihl FS200 for 10 years, which would cut grass, weeds and Lantana on our property with ease.
The problem with the B450 is that it cannot even be used on long grass ...Read more
... if there is a small rock or twig in among the grass, the head will fly apart on contact. I've discussed with the dealer (The Mower Place in Brisbane), but they're not interested. The most infamous comment from the Mower Place was that "I was using it wrong". They were unable to clairfy how the use of the B450 differs from a Stihl.

Im a contractor and have used the b450 for years, to powerful for the standard head yet there are many other heads that do fit. I use a big 4mm cord on a head that has three cords about 7 inches long that cuts through anything.

My b450 brush cutter won't start, check for spark on the spark plug, there is spark, tried using starter fluid, still won't start. what do I do next?

Pull up the choke .if u already did that...place a few drops of mixed gas in the chamber and pull the starter and if it starts then the carb needs clealing or the diaphragm needs changing.
If it didn't start the the coil could be weak or the engine is problematic

I have a shindaiwa B450 bushcutter and my nephew put an oil rich fuel mix. (He didn't add the proper fuel to the can for the correct mixture). The bushcutter has since lost all power, meaning it will start, but the whip barley turns and it sounds like there is no power in the machine. Its much quieter now. Is this normal?

Clean or change your spark plug
These machines come defective....five months my lasted with piston wear and ring seizure....commercial use.
Empty the fuel tank & replace with a small quantity of straight unleaded. Set to full choke, full throttle, & try starting it. When it fires up, stop it immediately, empty the tank & refill with correct fuel mixture (25:1).
I've also found that starting at near full throttle, with prompt choke adjustment once it kicks in, helps when starting.
BTW, not pointing the finger at anyone, but if they say that the B450 is fragile, they're profoundly delusional. I bought mine secondhand on eBay, it was ex-council, so extensively used, I've had it for 7 years, clean the filter occasionally, never cleaned or changed the plug, & it hasn't missed a beat.

I own a few B450's. I am a licensed yard maintenance worker. The B450 is my go to cutter for the toughest jobs, an if you need anything any tougher just add on a tornado blade.
