I bought 1409 & have had nothing but problems with the thread tension. I preferred Singer but totally regret purchase :(

published

Sew CHAIR covers, costumes, pillowcases, hem trousers and general clothes. The overlocking used to be ok but after a short while the tension on that and straight stitching keeps breaking. I have done all the trouble shooting possible. Still no success :(

Purchased in May 2016 at Big W Retail Stores.

Would NOT recommend it at all

published

I bought this machine for my wife's birthday present several years ago. Thought it would be straightforward for a beginner to use. I simply can't believe how fiddly it is to thread the machine. I managed to get it threaded but then it wouldn't pick up the bobbin thread no matter what I tried. So we spoke to a lovely lady at a sewing shop who suggested it my be the timing. Took the machine over to her, she put it on the counter, threaded the cotton and lo & behold it picked up the bobbin thread - not the timing. Whoever designed this machine has never had to use it themselves. Quite honestly I feel like throwing over a cliff

Purchased in November 2016 for $198.

I bought this sewing mashine for my mother as an early Mother's Day gift and helped set it up, the knob at the side was wonky and my mum used it ONLY ONCE for it it break off and the machine makes funny sounds and gets EXTREMELY hot every time you turn it on. I can't even take it back because I threw out the receipt with the box thinking it would WORK. im SOOOO disappointed and can't help but think the company sells broken ones that have been returned to new buyers. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

Questions & Answers

Damn
Damnasked

I bought a singer promise 1409 and at first, the pressure foot lifter stays by itself at the highest position ideal to easily go around with my both hands on a thick fabric. But lately, when I pull the presser foot lifter in its highest position, it doesn't stay anymore. I need to hold the lever with one hand while the other hand trying to go around with the fabric. Those of you who has this model, is this normal or should I return it? Thanks!
