Already cracked with 1st very minor knock. Loved it for 2 months..

Lovely to cook with but not robust for even lightest kitchen use. Corner has cracked when small wooden knife block got tipped on it's side. Cooktop was correctly installed by Smeg. It was great for cooking but has only lasted 2 months in the hands of careful, light kitchen users. It will be impossible to avoid this type of small impact in any domestic kitchen, therefore the product is not fit for it's main purpose.

Smeg approved installer has very kindly installed another glass top. We love the cooktop itself, it's fantastic to use,, but worried how long we can go without a new chip or crack.

I have the SA174 cooktop installed in November 19, which I love for ease of cleaning and speed when using P setting, however, if I also use another zone when one is already on 8-P (eg pasta) then it hardly warms up at all, can't even boil water. I am using the ss bonus Tramontina saucepan set supplied or the Baccarat Granite induction pots (both of which work beautifully, apart from above issue. Is there some trick or technique around this?

Hi Jill,
Thanks for your enquiry. When using the P setting, the cooktop will take limit the power of the other zone/s. For example, you can have one zone on the left and one zone on the right on P, the corresponding zones will have their power limited so as not to go over the maximum power draw.
Hope this helps

Thank you, yes that makes sense. I had been using two on right when this was experienced. Appreciate your very prompt response.
