How is the S1 different from the S2?

Hi Stacey, the only difference I know of is that the S1 has a rechargeable battery ie it doesnt have to be plugged in when you pump. That is super handy for me even 4 months on. I pump everyday but various places at home - on the bed, at dining table, on sofa, so i find it super handy. Also usually baby is crying (i pump while i feed on other side) so not having to do an extra step of looking for outlet is a timesaver.

Hi Stacey,

Great question! And Laila has it right - the main difference is that the S1 has a rechargeable battery, so you can pump on the move. :-) The only other difference is that the S1 is blue and the S2 is pink. They are both hospital grade pumps and super popular.

Hope that helps.

Hi Kylie,

Wow, - arent you lucky being given a pump, thats fantastic! :-) You will need to grab shield sets, bottles and teats. The following are the links:
Shield sets: https://spectra-baby.com.au/shop/accessories/spectra-premium-wide-neck-breast-shield-set/ (our pumps usually come with a 24mm, it seems to fit many women)

Bottles: https://spectra-baby.com.au/shop/milk-storage/spectra-wide-neck-milk-storage-bottles-160ml-pack2/ - otherwise a few other brands of bottles fit perfectly. Mam, Cherub Baby and the Happy Baby bottles from Coles are slightly tighter, but if you are firm with the bottles when assembling them, they fit just fine.

Teats: https://spectra-baby.com.au/shop/accessories/spectra-wide-neck-teats-set2/ (slow flow for babies under 6 months, fast flow for babies over 6 months in general)

If you need help with how to put anything together, or how to use the pump, I suggest you check out our videos on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHd0pbLlW6GtJCEkEyFpSYg

Loads of information on there with how to clean your parts, use your pump, and put together your shield sets :-)

Of course our Customer Service Team is always around to help, via Facebook, or email [email protected]

Congratulations On your new bubs Kylie. I'm not familiar with the s2 pump but I know the avent bottles fit the s1 pump (it appears to be the same when I looked online). Also if you are wanting to build up freezer stock, you might want to look into storage bags. I haven't personally used storage bags (of any brand) as I wasn't fortunate to have excess milk. Alternatively, if you have extra bottles on hand you could store your milk in them. You can google the timeframes for storing your breast milk. Good luck!

My baby is at 5 months and I'm still trying to build up my supply. Would s1+ be a better choice than s9+ for this function? Thank you.

Im not too familiar with the s9, I had a manual pump before and I would never ever go back nor recommend a manual one as it was too slow and painfull for me. The s1 is portable so im able to pump from any room around the house, and its so easy to clean and use. Im not too sure the features/ functions for the s9 but the s1 has built mu supply up from 40mls to about 160mls per breast sometimes.

Hi there Mistyblur! Thanks for your question. I would definitely recommend one of our hospital grade pumps, so the S2 or the S1 sound like they are great choices for you. We actually have some blog posts on our website which I think might benefit you - please shoot us an email at [email protected] and we can get those over to you :)

1. Hi the instruction booklet says that the s1 starts in massage mode but mine starts in expression mode? (Assuming I am reading the modes correctly- i.e. If there's a squiggle that is the massage mode)

2. If I am not using my pump can I leave both tubings and both back flow protectors connected to the unit? (I.e. Doesn't cause any sterile issues when use the unit)

3. Can I leave both turnings and back flow protectors connected to the unit even if I am only using single pump?

Hi Vanessa!

Sorry for the confusion - all pumps start in expression mode and then switch over to massage mode when you press the little squiggle lines button :)

If you're not using the pump, it's fine to leave the tubing etc connected - just make sure you remove the backflow protectors to clean them when / if you notice any residue on the inside of them.

This is the same if you're single pumping :)

If you can email us, we can send you through a product manual we created which has lots more info in it!!!

Sorry i have question, what's the different between s1 with s2?

Nikeeta

They're exactly the same unit, the only differences are the S2 is offered in pink or blue and the S1 only comes in blue and has a rechargeable battery so you don't need to plug it in when you use it, whereas the S2 needs to be plugged in for operation.

Bobbi
Bobbi

The S1 has a chargeable battery and can function without the cord plugged in. Great for traveling or at work etc.

Thanks so much Nikeeta and Bobbi! That's exactly right :)

Hi Kirstie,
As Spectra have noted above they are expecting delivery soon after Christmas. When I contacted them they suggested pre-ordering as they are expecting their stockists to "snap up" what's remaining pretty quickly. Good luck with bubby!
