Hello Ron W,
If you feel like there is a fault in the motor, please do return it to your retailer for a replacement.

We got this as a Christmas present Dec 2018. They gave us the instruction booklet but no receipt. By the way because we were so pleased with this make and model we bought a 2nd one which still operates perfectly.

Hi there I purchased this fan this week from Bing Lee and just put it together tonight but the motor makes a very loud humm noise that constantly kicks in when it's running. My friend has the exact same fan but his does not make this sound at all (which is why I bought this as I loved his). Is mine just faulty? Can I return for another quiet one which is what I thought I was purchasing?

Hello Dawn,
You can have the store compare your unit to the store display model. Call ahead to see if they have a display mode to compare yours with.

Thank you I brought it back in and their display model hummed even worse (yet the one in JBHIFI or my friends one does not) so they would not allow me to return it. So stuck with a loud fan at night and never purchasing in Bing Lee again thanks :-(

Same problem, Dawn, purchased yesterday, what an annoying sound! The one in the store we bought it wasn't making that sound, will try to replace it.

Our remote just has Sunbeam and the functions of the buttons on it. We haven't done any upgrades. Technology for life is the slogan for Draeger products.

Hi sunbeam,

I received my fan as a gift last Christmas (which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE) and it just stopped working. There is no power running through it and I’ve tried a few power points in case that was the issue. As it was a gift, I don’t have the proof of purchase receipt. Am I still able to claim this under warranty?

Does the 46.9 cm include the fan bit or just the pedestal it sits on?

Hi there Anna...Yes it includes everything...from fan blades to the covers, motor & of course the pedestal... hence it's name... very easy to put together as I did it myself & I'm no handy lady...

Poppy

The 46.9cm is the diameter of the fan part. The pedestal is adjustable in height and is much larger.

I have just purchased this fan and the oscillation is not working correctly. Is this dependent on the way I should insert the drive shaft? It will not oscillate left to right and oscillates up and down a few times then turns to the left and moves up and down in this position.John S.

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi john,
Hard to say if the fan may be faulty. If you have tried the different oscillations from both the fan and remote
and it is still not operating correctly please return it to your store of purchase with your receipt for replacement.
Thanks john

how sensitive is the remote I bought a fan its brand is preima press on it doesn't and it's not the batteries i need remote as I'm disabled and can't get out of bed

the remote range is fairly good actually. Before the fan died on me, I used it in the bedroom, used to keep the remote next to the bed so I could either reduce the fan speed as the night cooled off or turn it off without getting out of bed

When you say "I bought a fan its brand is preima press", I presume you did not buy the Sunbeam FA8900 that this thread is about. May I suggest that you direct your query to the relevant product thread?

Allen70

it is relevant because I'm looking at buying a Sunbeam FA8900 I don't want to make the same mistake twice especially when it could be a fair amount of money

I was gifted a Sunbeam FA8900 late last year. I was extremely happy with it till it decided to stop, no warning no nothing, plain and simple....STOPPED!

Funny thing is that after a few days, works again then it stops...it keeps doing that on an off, however it now stays off for longer than two weeks :(

Since it was a gift, I don't have a copy of receipt...any solution?

Perhaps you should ask the manufacturer, or your retailer, rather than spewing random questions into the internet

Just unpacked new Sunbeam FA8900 40 cms pedestal fan. How do I get to the Figure 8 Oscillation. Only lets me do Horizontal or vertical. Can I do it without remote?

Press the "OSC" button on the bottom left of the control panel. You have to be patient and press it a few to times to cycle through the different oscillating options. Wait a moment to see the oscillation change because the figure 8 pattern is not very pronounced and it is easy to skip. I just use the remote anyhow and stick to one setting (left to right) and change the speed to suit. I hardly ever get up to look at or use the control panel.

Purchased the fan yesterday, when we first turned it on it was fine, now it continues to oscillate even when the power is off (creepy cause it feels like its possessed) and it no longer oscillates from side to side, only up and down and figure 8.
