Good but stinks
Fantastic motor came with all units and blends well but absolutely stinks if you don't clean it thoroughly afterwards. Would purchase from any reasonable price and use it for almost anything I need. Fastest speed worked like clockwork mixing almost anything as along as it is used well and properly.

Great Mixer. but....
Bought this hand mixer as my old hand one was a little weak. Very happy with this Sunbeam one, like the boost button also. My onky gripe is, is that the power cord is very short?? Why, why, why?? Very frustrating as you have to stand next to a power point, pretty silly Sunbeam! Good mixer apart from that.

More Sunbeam chinese rubbish
This replaces the old Philips 150w hand mixer made in Holland which we've had for over 25 years which still works but was starting to smell electrical. From the first light cake mix batter I knew it was a dud and should have taken it straight back. Now we are lucky to get 2 mins before it cuts out. This is the third sunbeam appliance (blender and iron) we have had problems with recently and wont be buying sunbeam again.
Buy the cheapest and throw out after warranty or pay extra and get quality european

Disappointing: lowest speed not low enough
Have decided to discard this mixer and get another. I used it mainly for beating cake batter and the problem was that the lowest speed is not low enough.
When you first mix the batter which contains butter and cake mix powder, etc. it flies everywhere because you cannot turn the speed down low enough. My previous mixer which I think was a Breville had a very slow speed which was perfect for the initial mixing of batter and also great for shaking off the last remnants of batter when the mixing was finished. The Sunbeam JM6600 can perform neither of these tasks hence my decision to find a replacement.

Disappointing product
Bought this product last November and we have hardly used the product a few times and already it cuts-out within 10-15 minutes of usage. Need to wait for about 15 minutes before its up and running again. Thought it would be a one off issue but it happens everytime off-late. Will be returning the product.

Disappointed
Have had trouble with hand beaters for years so went for the dearer Sunbeam 350w which was working wonderfully, love the low setting and the button for extra boost, use it for making packet cakes, cupcakes, just light stuff, it just stopped working when I was making cupcakes for my daughters 21st, there was no crunching noises or smell or grinding just stopped, I have had it only for 6 months, returned it under warranty, really scared now to buy another one, need to check reviews first.

Initial failure JM6600 hand mixer.
First use today for a cheesecake. Egg, cream and sugar mix, and power cut out sporadically. Started on the room temperature Philly, and the motor completely died. My old $10 one went for years! Very disappointed; had high trust in the brand before this. Will be getting my money back from Target today.

I love this mixer!
LOVE this mixer! I make lots of cakes, bikkies, marshmallow, icecreams etc with it and it powers through effortlessly (Marshmallow takes lots of beating). Best mixer ive owned for creaming butter and sugar aswell. Only negatives: cord length too short and beaters bar snapped 1 month outside warranty. Will happily replace beaters though :)

Beautiful but doesn't function as a mixer.
After my wonderful $5 cheapie beater died after 15 years of faithful service, I bought the Sunbeam Mixmaster JM 6600 presuming it would perform much better than a supermarket mixer. An interesting feature of this mixer is it cuts out every 30 seconds or so despite only being used on low speed on light ingredients and being virtually new. Eventually if you persist in trying to use it (being one of those strange people who actually wishes to finish the recipe), the mixer will need to have a prolonged rest to settle its nerves about 20 minutes. day after it went on strike 2 minutes into a simple cupcake recipe I rushed out to the closest shops to get an emergency replacement. Alas, the only mixer remaining on the shelf was the Sunbeam Mixmaster JM 6600 (I presume since nobody wanted it!). I ended up buying this as it was an emergency and now have the novel solution of ejecting the beaters when the mixer cuts out and immediately switching over to the second mixer, alternating as they malfunction in turn! My recommendation is to either buy 2 of these or better still, pool that money and buy something entirely different. A perfect mixer for the exceedingly patient.1 comment

If I could choose zero stars, I would!
This is the worst hand mixer I have ever used. We thought we were buying a quality product by purchasing Sunbeam but this heavy, short corded disaster can't even manage to cream sugar and room temperature butter. It has completely died and no longer works at all on its SECOND use. The ridiculous eject-beaters button is almost utterly superfluous, as cleaning batter from the beaters with a spatula, will eject them for you anyway. It also has zero power available in the first instance. You find yourself beating on high speed to just match the lowest setting of other hand mixers. Unbelieveable. PS: Creaming butter & brown sugar with a fork and a wooden spoon is a great arm work out.

Don't waste your money - Dangerous and Short Life Span
The design is dangerous!. The cord is too short and the eject button is the on/off speed switch, therefore you must make sure you physically switch off at the wall. I chose this one to replace my 20 year old simple beater, because of the motor wattage, assuming it would last longer. It only lasted 19 months of low use (used no more than 40 times) & I only used the mixing beaters & whisks (not the dough hooks). It died when I was making the butter icing recipe in the Sunbeam recipe book that accompanied the mixer. Far better to buy the cheaper brands.

Sunbean hand held mixmaster
Worst ever hand held beater ever owned!!! Do not buy!!! This product should not be on the market!!!! I cant even beat a muffin mix without it cutting out!!! And on high speed it smells like its burning out!! Maybe it should only be used for beating egg whites - but who needs a one purpose beater? Such a let down sunbeam!!!

Less than impressive
I chose this product for its higher watt motor and the Sunbeam range. I find it makes an almost ear-piercing whining noise at low settings. The power of mixing at higher settings is almost imperceptible (but at least the whining stops). Removal of the beaters require a strong thum pressure and is a bit tricky. It's fairly heavy to hold and really doesn't seem powerful at all. I wish I hadn't bought it. I miss the Braun hand mixer it replaced which served me well for 20 years!

Where's the cord?
The short of length of the cord is ridiculous, makes this unusable in my kitchen! have to stand huddled in corner between sink and bench because I am right handed and cord doesnt extend past the bowl on my bench.
Should have separate eject button too when I turn up the speed I almost release the beaters. Very poor design. Waste if money!

Returned under warranty
I bought this because Sunbeam products used to be high quality, and Australian made. I knew that they have been importing their products from China for a number of years. This one was supposed to be more powerful than some other brands. I used the mixer about six times - made a cake once, and beat up cream the other times. Even during the first use, I could smell electrical burning. It got worse each time. Finally decided to send it back. Sunbeam products were once very good quality and lasted for decades. Now they are just made to a price, and poor quality. I will buy a European made one next time. Can't get anything made in Australia anymore.

Did not even last for one recipe!!!
Purchased the Sunbeam hand held Mixmaster to replace my 23 year old mixer because it finally wore out. During the very first use the mixer stopped working. When I read the instruction booklet it explains that there is a safety cut out to stop motor overheating on heavy ingredients, but we were only beating butter icing. The book explains that the cut out function should not operate with any of the recipes in the booklet, and there is a butter icing recipe in the booklet. 4 days later and we are beating soft butter and sugar for a cake and smok...Read more
e and a shocking burning smell comes out of the appliance. The motor has totally burnt out. I chose this $70.00 appliance over a cheaper brand because of the Sunbeam name and the fact the sales assistant said this product was more efficient. I am so angry - not only are we in the middle of trying to cook but there is also the time wasted looking for the receipt, going back to the retailer, doing the exchange, buying another product (I WILL NOT be getting the Sunbeam after reading all the other reviews of burnt out motors). Efficiency and customer service seem to be off the table with the big companies these days - I think it is all about getting the manufacturing costs as low as possible and the retail sales as high as possible. I also plan to contact Sunbeam directly to complain and I suggest other unhappy customers do the same! Do not buy this product!!! If you have problems with any product make a lot of noise to both the retailer and the manufacturer - I think too many people don't complain because they don't have time or can't be bothered.Similar opinion? Design failure
Very disappointed with this product. Firstly the cord is way too short and the eject button is ridiculous, it should be separate to the power button. DEFINATELY DON'T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. I wish I had reviewed it before purchasing.

Disappointing Rubbish
We have had the mixer for about two or so years and have used it only occasionally. Five minutes into this year's Xmas cake, the motor has burned out. I now have $60.00 of soaked fruit, some semi creamed butter and sugar, four lightly beaten eggs and no cake mixer. I am left with no choice other than to race out and buy a new mixer and guess what? It will absolutely not be a sunbeam!

Worst handheld ever! And I've only had it 30 minutes
What a piece of junk! Just bought this from target half an hour ago, and now I'm writing this review looking at the half done cake batter because the motor over heated mid-mix. I saw a $15 target brand handheld right next to this $70 piece of rubbish but decided to go for this one. Bad mistake.

Terrible. Burns out. Don't buy it.
Bought one from Costco 3 weeks ago. Used it to cream butter and sugar to make a bunch of cakes. Made about 5 cakes and then it died on me mid cake. Returned it. Got another one last week. Have done 6 cakes, and it has died again. Will be returning it and will never buy another one again. Absolutely terrible product. Was not mixing anything heavy, it should be able to cope with what I was doing.
It stopped completely. Won't work at all, after very little use.

Questions & Answers
Colette M.asked
My mixer is less than 12 months old. It is solid, has good speed control but stops suddenly. I thought it was broken. Was going to take back. When I turned it on - it worked again. This happens every time I use it. Appears to get over heated doing relatively simple tasks just as creaming butter and sugar. Is it faulty or do you have a tip to stop it over heating??

I can’t seem to fit the beater to the stand it does not fit snuggly. Also beater will not spin as a hand held. I think I got a lemon. Bought it a couple of years ago and tried to use once but couldn’t so put in cupboard and bought a big kenwood. Would like to be able to use it for smaller mixing but can’t get it to go. It has never been used and is totally useless. Can you please tell me if I am doing something wrong or have I bought a dud.

Hi Lyn,
I have one of these at home but this model is a hand mixer only. Maybe you have a different model? With some models the beaters go in one side only and have to match up. I would like you to give us a call on 1300 881 861 to see if we can assist you.
