If you have a decent diet you do not need vitamins, and taking too often will damage your body such as too much vitamin D will damage your bones not make them stronger etc

personally I would not put - firstly; sustagen in a blender and secondly; one definitely ought not eat a banana with it as well whether in a blender or otherwise!
Sustagen is a balanced dietary formula to assist where a person is not getting enough nutrition in their diet through illness or other reasons.
By all means eat the banana but not whilst drinking sustagen, have the banana on its own!!!

You are much better off buying Cole's Skim powdered milk around 5 dollars that makes 10 litres of milk, good protein and heaps less sugars, Sustagen is 50% sugar. Hospital Formula is far too expensive. I use Soy milk and add 1 chopped banana some yogurt and a dessert spoon of powdered milk. 90% of vitamins are a waste of money and most goes down the toilet. Get a low dose multi vitamin and take every 2 - 3 days. check what you are eating as if your diet is good you do not need vitamins. Feel free to ask more if required. Have a good day, Gerry

I think ask doctor or dietitian for a diet intake. Being thin is not always bad, but keep in-touch with doctor if any other symptom pops up. Sustagen is 55% powdered milk. This is quite cheap at your supermarket. Woolworth's Full Cream Milk Powder 1kg $5.70. Make these milk drinks and eat more protein meats fish etc and see how that goes. Try a multivitamin every 2nd day.

Sustagen is not a meal replacement, and should not be used like that. It has too much sugar and the powdered milk powder comes from Europe. Only 10% of the product is used with Australian products. It does not have Vit D3 and other important vitamins and minerals and is is 50% sugar, will give you energy and some protein. Do you have a Pharyngeal Pouch or the like? I recently had surgery to fix that. Feel free to ask more questions. Gerry.

I just got back from the hospital they did nothing for me, I honestly feel like Im dying even when Im drinking sustagen I have to drink it with water cause it gets blocked in my throat is there anything else I could try ?

Hi JMan - I too am thin but Sustagen didn't help me gain weight it just helped stabilise it. Musashi bulk protein powder is great for bulking up - just check you can take it & it really works - it helped my husband bulk up.

See a dietitian as Sustagen is 50% sugar which is unhealthy. I used for 2 years did not gain weight. I think more protein would be best. But too much protein will damage liver and kidneys.

It says on the tin recommended dose is 1-2 times daily, but i am wondering about this also and don't want to go over 2 in case it causes any issues

Teresa, it’s the fibre that’s making you gassy. May also cause you to have bowel movements often. It’s not a bad thing. Fibre will clean you out to store the good stuff.

Sustagen is 50% sugar it is not healthy and is expensive. Get some skim milk powder from Cole's it is heaps cheaper. It can be sprinkled on cereal etc

Yes I suppose. You can use sustagen sport as well if above 15 years and active.

Things that are high in protein can cause constipation. Get some glucomannan powder, not a pill, and add a small dose to your daily sustagen. It will move things along. Just rad the warnings, because this powder, if taken dry, can be a choking hazard.

I am beginning to think that Sustagen CAN cause a degree of constipation. I have just spent 20 minutes in the smallest room in the house trying to move a motion. The only thing I have had in the last 24 hours is a 350mm cup of milk with the product comprising 4 heaped teaspoons. This is the second time that I can relate to this effect.... need advice.....
