Diarrhea and redish poo
I had 15ml with lunch today. When I opened the seal, it popped up violently. Sounded like a big bang and frightened all my family.
In the afternoon I felt sort of diarrhea. I used quite a lot of toilet paper, when toilet paper was so precious after COVID-19 outbreak, you know. I thought my period came earlier. Then I saw the redish poo and realised it might be the side effects from the liquid.
Then I searched online. The silica intake in 15ml liquid is actually much higher than what recommended for normal adult. I don't feel comfortable to have this product. I threw away.
Purchased in April 2021.

doubtful product
Bought this product as my hair started to fall down for no apparent reason.
Same experience as other reviewers, fizzed when first opened, like fruit juices when they're off.
It's supposed to be great tasting but tasted vile even in water and undrinkable undiluted. Just bought it with a short expiry date (4 months) so could well be off. Gave me heartburn.
Intend to return it asap.
Purchased in April 2021 for A$22.00.

Hair Skin Nails Oral Liquid & Sodium Benzoate
I couldn't find any reviews for the Liquid version of this product so decided to put this review here. I was disappointed to discover that the Hair Skin Nails Oral Liquid contains "sodium benzoate" which when combined with Vitamin C (as it is in the liquid) can become "benzene" which is a known carcinogen. Now I don't know what would possess Swisse to use sodium benzoate in combination with Vitamin C when they could use a natural alternative preservative. I wondered why this product was so heavily discounted at the pharmacy and I can only su...Read more
rmise that stock is being run out because as awareness grows of the addition of sodium benzoate the product is becoming unpopular. The product does work however, but I think it is dangerous to consume.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Dangerous: Do not take
I started taking this supplement because I post-pregnancy I found my hair wouldn't grow. I called the number on the back of the bottle and spoke with a naturopath who assured me it was safe to take while breastfeeding. A few months into taking it daily I came across this website and read the reviews.
"Liquid contains sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Sodium benzoate might be acceptable on its own, but when it is mixed with ascorbic acid, it can create benzene, a potent carcinogen, which increases the risk of cancer and other di...Read more
seases." Once again I called the Swisse natropath and she couldn't deny that this was true. I am furious that they are allowed to sell these dangerous products, and I urge anyone taking the liquid supplement to stop.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Liquid supplement may contain benzene
I am a fan of many Swisse products. I bought Hair Skin Nails liquid supplement for its high silica content. I am going to return it though, as it contains both sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Sodium benzoate might be acceptable on its own, but when it is mixed with ascorbic acid, it can create benzene, a potent carcinogen, which increases the risk of cancer and other diseases. I don't know why Swisse didn't formulate this supplement with the safer and natural preservative potassium sorbate, which they use in their chlorophyll liquid. Very disappointing.
High silica content
Contains cancer causing chemical

Check the ingredients in your products carefully, don't assume they're good for you
I purchased the liquid form of Swisse Hair Skin and Nails online. When I looked at the product I noticed a large statement warning of the product containing sodium benzoate. I did some research about this additive and found its use is somewhat controversial. On several sites I found the warning that sodium benzoate should not be combined with ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) as this then forms benzoate a known carcinogenic. Ascorbic acid is another ingredient in this product. There is nothing contained in the labelling of this product warning you of ...Read more
this, nor do they state their case or issue a reassurance this is not the case - they issue a notification of this ingredient and leave the research up to you. I do not consider this a health supplement. nothing I personally dont consider the use of this product as being safeSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I also experienced the liquid turns into porridge when 2/3 remains in the bottle. The taste turned to be horribly sour and a bit spicy. Called NZ customer service and got told the service was not Available.

Is this product meant to pop the top off once slightly opened and then fizz out of the bottle for 5 minutes, losing a good deal of the product? Is it off? I do not think it is safe to drink.

Someone in the review section said that the top popped off violently and the product expiry date was 2009! Also, these have been making some people very I'll. If you do decide to take these and notice any side effects such as headaches or nausea, discontinue use. :)

Is this liquid meant to be fizzing when the bottle is opened? I have just opened my second bottle, the first one did the same thing from the start and this one is the same, except that the foil seal had popped when I first opened the bottle... doesn't seem right.
This product is not cheap! How do I arrange a refund?!
