Delivered 2 weeks after Xmas & not fit for purpose
The Dr Suess books ordered for Xmas 2022 arrived 2 weeks late & the font is too small to read easily - terrible for children. Their cancellation form wouldn’t work. Very disappointing.

BEWARE HIDDEN FEES
Regular and loyal customer over the past 10 years with no problems. Ordered 3 books recently and upon inspection of credit card bill, suddenly notice 'international fees' totalling almost $50... (ordered through Paypal) no mention of hidden or extra costs on website. I will not be purchasing from book depository anymore and am very disappointed. Wish I had read some of the reviews as I've now noticed that others have experienced this. Time to find a new online bookshop who are honest and treat customers properly.

Used to be good now very poor service
Ordered a preorder book which never came even after the release date. In contacting book depository was told they were having difficulty sourcing the book. I followed up as I had not heard from them to be told that the publisher had decided not to release the book at this stage which was shocking as the book is available in most book shops in the city.
What a poor dodgy way to treat your customers. Won’t be ordering from them again. Had been with them for sometime but after this I am not going to use them if they resort to such ways.

Dishonest & terrible customer service
I ordered a book earlier on the 8th of jan on presale, that was being released on the 23rd of jan. Waited patiently and on the 27th of jan it still says awaiting publication which is a lie. I ask the company about it, and they said they couldn’t send me the book due to an issue with the supplier and they would give me a refund. Only after I bothered to contact them did they tell me this which is very dishonest I think they were hoping I wouldn’t notice I never got the book I paid for. . When I expressed my concerns politely and that I wasn’t happy with the way they situation was handled and that they didn’t bother to tell me until I chased them, they started ignoring me. I’ll be surprised if I even get my $$ back they seem very untrustworthy. If the company had had an issue they should have given me the basic decency of letting me know. The service from Book Depository was impeccable
I ordered a book which didn’t arrive by the time I expected it.
I emailed Book Depository. I received an answer very promptly. I did not expect they would send a replacement immediately but they did. This arrived in a few days.
When the original copy arrived I asked if I should do a return to sender to the Sydney address on label. They graciously said i could keep it.
Every email was answered so promptly, so courteously and in a friendly manner. I cannot recommend The Book Depository highly enough.

Book still hasn't arrived
I ordered a book in early December, using their estimated arrivals the book was due to arrive in plenty of time for a Christmas present. It is now January 22nd and still no sign of it and the tracking they have is terrible, all you can see is that it has been dispatched.

Delivery times are not acceptable

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
my books never came after nearly 2 months of waiting. I emailed book depository countless times in regards to my order and they emailed back saying they sent a replacement copy. After so many weeks waiting for my replacement I have requested a refund. Lets hope they give me that because that was a complete waste of time, energy and money! Please don’t use this website, you’re better off finding a reliable and professional company to order from.

I ordered a book on 2 December and expected it by 17 December. It didn't arrive and I contacted them. They supposedly sent another one but it hasn't arrived either.

Horrendous
Order was placed through Amazon on 17 December. Order was due to arrive on 8 January. When checking the order status, the book hasn’t even been shipped. I wish I had of checked the reviews first!

Unacceptable delivery time
3 weeks to receive book shipped from Australia to Australia! Was meant to be an xmas gift but didn’t arrive in time so had to buy something else. Should have purchased from local store instead. Will never return to Book Depositary

Terrible service, no product eventuated
I ordered a book that was alleged to be available in Australia. Fifteen working days later I enquired to find it was late coming from the UK. I never received it in time before the intended recipient left town to relocate, and when I suggested that a refund and a re-order of the book (for me to post forwards at my own expense) would be a suitable resolution was ignored.

Okay, but slow shipping
'Book Depository' isn't bad, just slow. I've had to wait 2-3 months at least four times. Aside from that though I've had all orders delivered even if they are late, so there's that.

Used to be good
Delivery and dispatch time is too slow now. Used to be a reliable service but Im still waiting on a Christmas order I placed in November. Customer service is appalling now too. Will not use again, plenty of other operators out there.

Not bad, but used to be much better.
I remember when I first ordered from Book Depository years ago, and my book was shipped quite quickly. And the price was excellent. Now I really have to make sure that I order well ahead of time (like in July if I want books for Christmas) because the dispatch and shipping rates are much slower. I recently purchased books as Christmas presents but after a week they still hadn't been dispatched (despite saying they would be dispatched in 2-3 days) and as we were going away for Christmas I knew they wouldn't arrive on time. tomatically cancelled anyway because apparently they didn't have it in stock despite it clearly stating that it was available (I put it in my basket and checked out and everything). And I just cancelled the other book myself. Both books were refunded and I received good, prompt replies from the service team, so credit where credit is due, for my case anyway. As long as the order is cancelled before the items have been shipped you can get a refund. I ended up getting one of the books from Amazon.com.au for the same price, and it came in two days, while I got the other one in Dymocks for more than I wanted to spend but I had no choice. Overall I'll still probably order from them as they have competitive prices, but you really need to leave enough time because the dispatching and shipping times are really slow.Similar opinion? Great books and customer service
I've only had good customer service from Book Depository. I agree, don't trust the time frames for deliver and I think they need to change these so customers don't get disappointed. I ordered 2 books for gifts and neither arrived for the occasions, despite allowing plenty of delivery time, Book depository helped me out when the orders didn't arrive.

BEWARE - this place has turned shonky
Ordered six books for over A$200 on 6 Mayember and they were, apparently, all shipped a few days later. Yet, only two arrived. When queried after four weeks, they first tried to pin it on me by suggesting that the address was wrong. When that does didn't fly, they suggested that the parcel was at the post office. When that turned out to be a dud, they suggested I should keep waiting for the order to arrive. When I requested a refund, they said they had resent the books. That was two weeks ago and, again, no delivery.
This place used to be good but has turned shonky. BEWARE.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!
I made an order for 2 books on the 2nd of December with the reassurance that Id definitely have these books before Christmas as they were a gift. They were apparently dispatched on the 4th of December. The website states that I should receive my items within 5-8 business days.

Cancelled half order (first book of a series of 3) and refuses refund
Book depository the treatment off your customers is terrible. After a two week delay in dispatching my order despite an apparent 3 day dispatch time and no communication of this delay. They have sent two books of the three i ordered and cancelled the other order without my permission. The book they cancelled is the first book in the series of three... rending the other two books useless. Ive requested a full refund for all the books because i cant use the other two books without the first, they have refused and had the cheek to only offer me 10 percent off a future order. What about my almost 50 dollars?
The handling of my complaint has not been good and full of false promises and im still left without a christmas present for my daughter

Worst business I have encountered so far
Received multiple items that were damaged and had to send in a claim. They offer a small 20% discount to try save cost, however, just ask for your money back or a replacement and they will give it to you. This is because it is the law. Takes for ever for the books to arrive. I have also never wrote an online review of a company before since it is mostly a waste of time but I took the time to do it this time since I have never been so disappointed in my life.
