Hello Bora. I would say that it probably would but to be on the safe side I would suggest you call either Toyota Service dept &/or your local wreckers as they should be able to give you an informed, definitive answer.

I have a 2009 Toyota sr5 dual cab just bought it second hand two weeks ago.
I just notified that when I push on the brake pedal there is a squeaking noise. What does this mean?

Check that there isn't a mouse under there. :-)

It depends where the squeaking noise is coming from / perhaps a Toyota Australia workshop or a quality trustworthy honest and reliable braking specialist shop might be able to help you further on the problem.

If it's actually on the brake pedal itself it could be the hinge / you could try putting lubricant on it though that would probably be just a temporary fix / perhaps you could get a Toyota Australia workshop or a quality trustworthy honest and reliable mechanical shop to change the pedal setup.

I have a 2007 duel cab, automatic 2 wheel drive.
i just noticed today my rear diff is leaking?

anyone have any ideas what could have caused this and how much i can expect to pay to get it fixed

I think you will find it's the seal because a few people have had a problem with the seals leaking on various models of the Hilux.
You will just have to take it into Toyota and get them to check it out but ask them to let you know if it's not just the seal (which will be cheap to fix). If it's a major problem you will want to get a few quotes on the repair job before proceeding... it pays to shop around.

Hope this helps. :)

i just put a deposit on a hilux 4x4 dual cab v6 manual... did some research and i do accept that the economy is no where near the TD... will i get 500km out of a full tank? has anyone added a canopy and if so has this made a difference... thanks guys

1 answer
Roses66
Roses66

We have a single cab Hilux SR turbo which we get about 650km per tank and yes anything of size attached to the vehicle, including a canopy, creates wind drag and will therefore cause the engine to use more fuel because it has to work harder.
How much more fuel it will use will totally depend on what speed you drive at and on the design of the canopy. I would suggest going for a really good canopy which is aerodynamically designed because with the ridiculous price of fuel today you should recoup the extra outlay for a good quality, well designed canopy rather quickly.
I am not sure about the dual cabs however for what it's worth we are totally wrapped with our new Hilux for the fuel economy, comfort, style and performance. :)

I recently replaced the fusible link on my 2005 Hilux 2,7 due to the jumper leads being connected wrongly and now it is turning over but not starting. All the wires and fuses were double checked and still nothing. Can you suggest any other checks?

Hi Gerhard. I am by no means an expert however I do know that these newer model cars can be very touchy when it comes to jump starting because of all the electrics in them and if you had the leads around the wrong way, this would only compound the risk.
I would suggest you spend the money and take it to a Toyota Repairer however when you get there, insist on speaking to the head mechanic or the manager of the shop so you don't get fobbed off to some apprentice who won't be able to solve your problem.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I will try this option and hope for the best outcome.

In future never jump start a car / you could have damaged the onboard computer @ you could also try taking the vehicle to a quality trustworthy honest and reliable auto electrician shop.

Or you might just need a new battery / try Marshall or key batteries @ they both are superior great batteries.

Caveman, as an ex fulltime carpenter myself with two big sons aged 12 & 10, i feel qualified enough to help you answer this wee question. I own an SR5 HILUX dual cab '08 module, and believe me its nothing short of 'Awesome', for practicality comfort and plenty of onboard space for stuff, you've gotta give yourself a go at one for a test drive. I've also got an 08 Patrol wagon which seats 7 and is great for long halls and off road, but they're thirsty beasties, and are doggy in low gears around town. The Hilux on the other hand is the perfect all-rounder, rangy gearbox awesome top end speed for the motorways, and responsive around town, they style up well with a set of powder coat ARB bullys, and a set of Mickey Thompson A.T tyres, then you'll be ready for a lot more than the average cars can provide! lol Good luck making your choice, just have it checked over prior to purchase and you'll be good to go bro.

I'm looking to buy a dual cab in Australia. Under $20,000. I'm trying to decide between a VW transporter T4 0r T5 ideally LWB and a Toyota Hilux .After reading the reviews i'm feeling overwhelmed by the negative press would love some direction.

Hi, We are in the Courier Industry here but in the Office Environment now. The VW Transporter is a very nice wagon, and drives like a dream, Very Powerful, It has a larger Volume area for freight than a Hiace Equivalent and has a longer time between Services, which can be a cost saving, They drive like an Airplane (but on the ground) Very smooth, watch your speed in these, i went way over 140 kph without realizing it, We were going to buy one instead of the Hiace but went for the Hilux with Dual Cab and Canopy on the Back as a compromise between a van and a car, If you want a Van and have a lot of gear to move around, go for the Transporter, Make sure its the Big Engine one with Turbo and 6 speed if available, don't bother with the autos, you don't have the feel of control compared to the manual (its up to you of course) you can get dual turbo but its way dearer, You will be pleased with it.The Hilux is great if you want the Car feel with Option to go 4x4...Hope that helps

I have a Hilux 2.7 Raider. Since 40 000Km, I had trouble with the clutch and gearbox. Eventually on 70 000Km, the dealers started fixing some parts of the gearbox, and stated a new clutch kit was fitted. 8 000Km further and the clutch is still slipping and I have sticky gears, and it seems the Dealers are incompetent, and telling me I cant drive. I notice its a Hilux problem? I further seem to have no airbag working, nor seatbelt sensors picking up. Why is my Hilux unsafe and Toyota SA not accepting Hilux has mechanical problems.

Hi, I am pregnant of my number 4 baby arriving soon, I have seen the double cabins have 6 seaters but when I see the photos I am afraid to see the front seat with the sucurity belt just at the middle of the 3rd passenger seat.
Question : Do you think I can fit 4 children seats and my husband and I ? I mean 6 passenger in total ?
Did you try to fit 6 people int his vehicle ? Even if we are not big, I worry to fit everyone.
If possible, then it would be great ! Thanks for your help.

Yes I have one and I have baby seats in it.
The back seat does not fold down it is a real pain instead you have to thread the strap down the back of the seat and lift the bottom seat up so you can fit your hand in under neath and clip the strap to the anchor.

Looking at buying a 2006 hilux 5 speed Manuel what's fuel consumption like. It's petrol 4 cly

3 answers

I have a diesel and its about 11.5 per 100km. Its the same engine as the Prado. I don't know if the petrol engine is the same as prado but 2 blokes I spoke to with petrol prado, towing modest caravans, were getting 27Litres petrol 100 km. That's major thirst! ( my diesel 4x4 auto Hilux goes out to 13-14 with the van on. If you intend going bush with the petrol dry grass on the petrol exhust can create a fire that will burn you out of a ride home.

GT
GT

The read out on the dash of my 2010 4ltr petrol dual cab manual reads 8.9 ltrs per 100km with about 150kgs of gear permanently in the tray and I don't spare the horses. Way cheaper to fix than the diesel when their injectors etc muck up. This thing doesn't miss a beat, no complaints from the misses about the smell of the diesel & no worries about her topping it up with unleaded.

What you save on fuel with the D4D you will more than loose with maintaining the fuel injection system, I don't have a petrol hilux but I wouldn't recommend buying the diesel, do a google search for hilux D4d cold start rattle and you will see what I mean

The official rate that's listed on the net is 11.5L per 100km - But I tend to get closer to 10.5/11L per 100km, depending on how responsible I drive!
