Excellent driver
Bought this 2018 Hilux 3 weeks ago and must say very impressed with how it drives and the features included for a basic workmate ute. Very smooth and comfortable daily driver.

Great work horse, not a problem!
So reliable 1984 model was voted most reliable car ever. Love my luxey. Have a workmate 4+2 man and tows so easily put near 1 tonne in it every day handles so well. had a triton and hated it didn’t tow well or handle weight. Hilux is total opposite. Search top gear Hilux to watch a 3 part short film on trying to ‘kill’ one.
Purchased in May 2021 for A$37.00.

Not regretting for buying a Hilux
Bought 2018 Workmate double cab 2.7 l petrol as a new car.
Done close to 500 km now.
Good side:
1. Surprisingly quiet cabin when driving at 60 kph as a Ute.
2. Simple to operate, basic functions just fine to me.
3. If not looking back, I would feel like driving a SUV.

A little love lost
Loved it when I first got it. Good on highway, good on fuel (diesel). Regular services under warranty. Then the letter came about the first of three recalls and then it became a headache.
Purchased in November 2021 for A$38,000.00.

Lies lies lies
Fourth brand new hilux in a row. While farming I swore by them but since changing to 4x2’s in city life I’m ready to try competitors. The problem boiling my urine currently is the fuel gauge dilemma going on two years now. There has been one dealer fix and just had the toyota factory “fix”. My fuel tank is now meant to have 12 litres of fuel remaining when the fuel light comes on but I still have 20 litres before the needle rapidly goes to empty. Toyota’s lied to me again and I expect far more from this car GIANT!
I bought a motor vehicle with...Read more

Wow, very bumpy!
With no load in the back, the drive is just terrible. My brain is being smashed against my skull in a most aggressive manner, over roads that I know are smooth. You can feel every tiny crack, bump or crevice in the road. I have asked if there is any suspension adjustments that can be done, but it seems not (any suggestions, apart from filling the tray with concrete?) Under load, it's great and it was a bargain (only $22,000 new 2018).

MMM..
I bought a cab chassis with alloy tray in late 2015 2.4 went very well however the dpf cost me three trips back to dealer before they replaced, had seat cushion replaced Im 105k?? I found seating cramped and fancy new dash with all its angles makes it feel worse. Fuel economy good 2.4 D not 2.8 D which appears to be vey thirsty. The standard tyres were awful wore out quickly and very scary in the wet even with but ride and power good and it felt like a Toyota, which I have bought every model since 1989 2wd or 4wd. I do wonder whether they are...Read more
as well built or is it just a great marketing program we continue to fall for. The best certainly were the JAP produced models prior to 2004. I had a great run with those models some how I feel these are not the same. ( I sold this ute recently and bought a Triton 17K cheaper couldn't afford $48K for similar vehicle.)Similar opinion? Poor
Poor fuel economy that Toyota are aware of and have done nothing about. Only ever run 98 ron petrol in it and hasn't done any work. Stock as with alloy tray and only used to commute to work. Only get 450km per 80 litre tank. 90% of my driving is highway. The ride is shocking. Radio is useless and doesn't pick up stations even in the city. Speedometer is out by 8km p/h. When these issues had been raised at the dealership i was fobbed off and asked to book it back in. This is my last toyota. I have had 3 hiluxes before this and wouldn't buy another.

New Hilux rust in chassis after 2 years and 15,000 kms only
I puchased a new Hilux single cab in October 2015 and it now has extensive rust in the chassis due to the fact according to the Corrosion report that I had done that the chassis and running gear eg tailshaft, diff housing etc has not been painted properly in the factory when the car was made in Sept 2015.
The paint on the chassis is only 30 micron,s thick and that is only where it has been painted.
The vehicle is still under warranty and has been back to the dealer and their reply to the rust problems was that is eviromental and is due to whe...Read more

Great car
Purchased brand new Toyota Hilux workmate utility with tray. Great vehicle runs really well, very reliable and very fuel efficient. Use this on our hobby farm around the paddocks and bush tracks and covers terrain really well. Also handles well on the road. Comfortable interior making it good for long trips.

6 moth new with problem
6 moth new hilux At 20000km start had problems
Engine Loosing horsepower
Steering getting stiff + hard to control
Ride got bumpy at flat road
Fuel economy got higher
500-550km per tank
When to dealerships for service at 20000km told them the problems. In return is nothing’s change
In This days they only looks at the ecu code, if there is no error code that mean everything fine

My new office
I started up a mobile business and recently bought a hilux to set it all up. So far so good. Impressed with the cabin size. It is quite roomy and has enough leg rooms. I got the diesel run one and runs smooth, no noise issue. The only missing thing in it at the moment is having no reverse camera. It should worth the investment once I have it installed. It fits in my garage with one other car.

Good but no guts
We find our Toyota hilux to be quite and smooth ride around town and on long trips, it gets decent mileage and seems reliable enough. Lots of room in the cabin except the is not much head room in the back seat which can cause for a need for more breaks so the back passengers can stretch.

My 2017 Toyota Hilux Automatic Workmate is fine - but the expensive Toyota extras???
In October this year I updated my 2014 Toyota Hilux Automatic Workmate to the brand new 2017 model.
The cabin is a lot more sophisticated than its predecessor with improved creature comforts - durable fabric upholstery, unexpected small storage areas (as there are only 2 seats and the cabin size limited), instrumentation is better and more comprehensive with a larger touch screen that can show additional features regarding the vehicle's performance. The air conditioning system works very well as it only has a relatively small cabin to cool.

New Workmate has become civilised
The 2017 Hilux Workmate has changed and has become more civil on the interior. It now comes with soft touch surfaces on the door's and a great well thought out dash with 2 glove compartments both top and bottom. With this a sunglass compartment in the roof. The vehicle comes with Bluetooth and full touch screen radio with connections which is about time, Power windows, new steering wheel with controls for blue tooth, Radio and other technology. Build quality is tough if not better and ride is not as harsh as previous generations. The shift feel...Read more
on the manual gearbox is good with a shorter shifter and a light clutch. The engine is quieter and not as thirsty as previous. The seating to me seemed higher than before with more seat bolster but it does the job with legroom being just enough for taller persons like myself. Terrific trade ute with affordable servicing capped and Toyota Reliability. Oh and it now has daytime running light'sSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good solid performer.
Ride is a bit rough as it needs some weight on tray. The tool boxes with tools will solve yhis plus some time to soften suspension. Good interior however as it is tradie car could do with less material inserts. Totally reliable, a bit heavy on fuel. Definitely need a rear camera installed for reversing in tight spots.

Great Truck!!!
We bought the 2017 Hilux Workmate Extra cab to update from our old V6 Commorore for our business. Without a doubt it was the best in its class for what we needed and wanted. Best fuel economy we could find for a 4x4. Comfortable seating. Easy to use dash and Audio setup.

2015, workmate 2.4 diesel., blue smoke,etc
Hi
Has been blowing lots of blue smoke since new, dealer said its a purge cycle on these. This is embarrassing and annoying to say the least, it happens at least twice each day and lasts for severl minutes. Only done 55000km.
I thought the piston rings have gone on it or something. Spoke to other guys in my company about this and they have the same issues with it, the other things are high idling around 1200rpm when stationary, the idle button doen not work (WHAT THE HELL IS IT FOR). The bonnet "THE BONNET" what a fantastic ...Read more
