HI There I have a 2005 120 I had to change the clutch fan it was running fine before I took it off I had to turn the motor over by hand so I could loosen the nuts on the water pump pully now it won't start it is a turbo diesel.
Hi. I have a Prado 2003 model. There is some time hesitation in engine. Just for a while it was not accelerating. I already checked the plugs and mass air flow sensors, still having the problem. Any ideas?
I had a similar issue with my 2004 petrol model. I also replaced the MAF sensor and spark plugs and still had issues. It was not until I also replaced the two pre and two aft oxygen sensors that the...
Read more issue was resolved (in the exhaust system). I would check the oxygen sensors next which are quite expensive but there are cheaper generic brands available and these worked well for me.Hi I have a 2008 Toyota Prado series 120 diesel when I hit the accelerator it seem to take a long time to respond can anybody help me in fixing this problem please?
That’s normal . If it worries you that much you can put a chip in the engine to make it respond quicker . Guys I know who have installed chips have spent approx $1000 for this mod. My advice would be ...

I’m looking at buying a 2003 - 2005 Prado but I can’t decide on whether I should get the 4cyl diesel or the V6. I’ve read conflicting reports on which is better for towing and I’ll be towing a horse float. Any info from people who have either would be great! Thanks.
I had both the automatic petrol and diesel manual 120 series. I found both vehicles to be suitable for towing upto 2.5 tonne. The diesel has good torque down low but will fade on the steeper hills th...
Read moree automatic behaved like petrol should and would simply drop a few gears and keep going. The diesel is cheaper on fuel but more expensive to get serviced. If you do a lot towing i think the diesel is the way to go if not the petrol is also a solid choice. Towing is hard on the clutch if you're thinking manual.I've owned a 5-speed auto V6 since new and converted it to LPG for around town in 2010. This is a fantastic vehicle on LPG; smooth, powerful and cheap to run. Make sure you get the newer auto, late 2004 onwards.
Hazard lights went on while 2002 petrol was parked in driveway. Had to remove fuse to stop this. Car will not fire up despite cranking over well as have charged battery. Thinking ignition or fuse problem. Any ideas?
Is 2005 Land cruiser prado 4000 cc petrol has got a cam belt or chain?
LJ120R 2010, ODO 140,000 KM.
On starting the engine misses for about 10-15 seconds, and come to normal. Its been for much while and I have done everything like changing the fuel pump, injectors, cleaned the fuel tank/filters and timely maintenance, but still the problem persists. And it gives more smoke from the exhaust at the start and even in motion.
Can anyone share/suggest me what should I do?
Thank you
I have a Jan 2009 4cyl diesel prado. Driving along and it surged a couple of times then cut out. It was on the 2nd 90ltrs of fuel. I pumped the primer on the fuel filter and it started and ran for a short time indicating a fuel issue. Went to servo to fill both tanks but would only take 30ltrs (fuel kept spewing out the filler neck) so the gauge is showing full with the green 90ltr light on. Primed again and it started and continued to run, drove home and still starts and runs. I'm assuming that when the fuel gets down to a certain level it's going to cut out again. Few questions... how does the dual tank system work? Is there a fuel pump in each tank or just in the main tank? Does it switch from tank to tank or does it transfer fuel from sub to main? why can't I fill the to capacity (180ltr)?
Is there a common problem with the air con in the 2009 prado? I have had mine degassed and within a month it is blowing warm air again
An auto electrician workshop may be able to help.
I've also found ultratune experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults
Looking at buying a 2006 GXL Prado 4lt petrol engine. My prado has water on the flooring only on the left side of the Prado.
Form in the middle seats and there is wet carpet in the left front all the way to the back especially on heavy rainy days.
Can this be from the roof Racks or the sunroof?
are you part of the facebook aussie prado 120 page? might find better luck getting an answer from there.
Well - it's leaking from somewhere - perhaps you should seriously consider taking the vehicle to a Toyota australia workshop for assistance
My prado when cold is lucky to get to 40klm an doesnt want to rev, slowly got worse.had service done an no better !including petrol filter an plugs etc.after 3/4min it goes well again, any ideas?
I would take it back to the people who serviced it. (Stick with Toyota service in my view.) If they serviced it and it is no better you should politely complain that they have not fixed the original problem.
You could follow the other answers advice which is good though, there's some even better mechanics out there who have been at for more than 30 years and know their stuff or for all anyone knows the fa...
Read moreult /problem, could be within the electrics in which a auto electrician workshop may be able to assist. --- I also found ultratune experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults. You say this only happens when it's cold -:this could also be a problem with the catllix converter or the automatic choke system could not be working correctly.
I have a 2004 3.0 diesel vx prado. Lots of tumbling before startup in the morning. Glow plugs changed and injectors serviced without success. Any similar problems/solution?
I have a 2002 Prado petrol, after how many kilometres would the timing belt need to be replaced, mines done 260k and I intend going on a long road trip soon, and is it very expensive to replace ?
Hi
I can not answer this as I have not experienced the issue. However, considering the km travelled so far and the inconvenience if it fails on your trip, I suggest you get an indicative price for r...
I would suggest that you not risk your passengers or your own safety. Money comes and goes but, safety is of the upmost importance so I would recommend you get the job done - while you've got the chance.
My Toyota Prado 2002 sounds like it has Athmsa/Emphysema.
The noise comes from in front of my steering wheel and is louder in the cabin then if you were standing beside it.
The noise is made, then the ! warning light comes on and the noise stops for a little before resuming. It hasn't affected the driving or brakes. It's just really loud and annoying. Took it to a car service centre and they had no idea :( Any ideas?
Sorry I can’t help much with the issues you are having as mine is a 2016 and so far I have had absolutely no issues with it at all!
It doesn't make sense what you're referring to however, if it's a whistling sound or a hissing sound then it's likely be coming from the comverter.I would recommend you take the vehicle to a different...
Read more mechanical repairs and servicing workshop. It could be an electrics issue but, I doubt it. I also found ultratune experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults.03 4L Gxl using way to much fuel and sounds like it has a exhaust leak.
When I had it look at they told me it had no leak?
Sounds like a tractor at about 2500 rpm. Any ideas?
I fitted Pacemaker Headers which improves the exhaust leak sound and fuel economy. Hope this helps.
There are expansion joints in the exhaust system and these are fitted with gaskets. These do eventually collapse and can do so after a short period even in warranty. They can be fixed temp by installi...
