Fantastic, reliable, fuel efficient car. Highly recommend this car which is great value. Cheap to service, cruises beautifully at 100 kph. They are better than expected. Grow on you very quickly the more you use it. No dislikes so far and keep posted as I will keep updating its progress from new.
Product review update. Booked in for the 10,000km service tomorrow. The only concern is I can smell fuel outside the car after I fill it up. So when I get home, I can smell it in the garage.

As I said no car is perfect... no matter what you pay for it.

Mine cost me $27,400 - extras included for the price were metallic paint, window tint, rust, interior, exterior protection (which was a rip off at $2500 but hey gotta have a learning curb!). Never be pushed into buying those useless extras as I was but as I said it's a learning curb when the "customer satisfaction manager" pushes you into a small room to force you buy products that aren't needed nor do they work aka the ming mole struck again!

I have a late 2013,Toyota Yaris Hatchback YRX, and I fully agree with “No car is perfect but this model come close”, 24th Aug, 2014. The GPS, navigation, SD card system is not worth the money. The GPS has a problem were the school crossing cannot not be disabled, yet there is a menu to allow you to disable them. You get up to 8 crossing in one area and some where there is not a school crossing at all. Toyota knows of the problem but cannot fix it. I bought my Toyota Yaris in 2010 as part of the Toyotathon for 14,990 for a 5 door hatch. The first thing I realised after looking at a lot of other little cars was what you got for your money. $130 capped priced servicing and the bottom of the range YR hatch came standard with blue tooth connectivity and a full size spare wheel and there is so many storage compartments- 3 glove boxes to be precise! 2013 Yaris 1.3ltr has a system where the fuel cuts off when coasting or light braking and the torque converter locks up to keep the engine turning (like if it was a manual gearbox in gear) then when you accelerate again the engine fires and disengages the lock up converter.

I bought the 2012 YR model for my wife in January 2013. It was a mangers car, so it had done 14K in eight months but we managed to get it for $13.5K compared to $18K for a new one. My wife loves the car. The new look is so much smarter than the old style. The sound system is excellent, it is very fuel efficient, easy to park, has responsive steering and has good power for it's size. She loves driving it and often tells me how happy she is with it. I bought a 2010 yaris yr brand new and drove it to work everyday, about 1000kms a week. 2 years later when I sold it, it was just like new. I originally chose the yaris based on the 2.9% finance deal and service advantage which makes it very good value.

It was a nice little car with lots of storage spaces but very basic. No cruise control even as an option, no steering wheel controls or stability control or anything like that. I drive a long way to work,on hilly, windy roads and even with the 1.3l engine, I have no trouble at all.

I previously owned a manual 2006 yaris which I was very happy with. The new 2012 Yaris is poorly built and poorly executed. The main problem with my Auto model is that at speeds of over 90km/hr a high pitch ringing noise is emitted from the engine. This noise is constant and is like the ringing in your ears after you hear a loud concert. I complained to Toyota and Toyota admitted that this is in all similar models and that they would not be doing anything about it.

Just bought the new spec 2011/12 Toyota Yaris YRS.
I decided to go with the YRS, simply because when I sat in the base model Yaris YR, the plastic steering wheel seemed cheap and it didn't have the features I wanted, as I had a european car previously.

This model has improved fuel efficiency compared to previous models, it's really really easy on petrol and is very smooth to drive and is a very smooth impressive ride. It's also incredibly safe in an accident.
