Worst service I ever experienced in a bank
I am executor of my fathers will and he had an account with UBank. I have made three phone calls, two emails, and a call to the complaints section and I can not get them to send me one form that I need for probate. Surely they could email the form while I was on the phone. There was no manager that would take my call (yes, all very polite calls) and even the complaints section has not returned my call. I can't think of any other way to deal with them except to try the banking ombudsman......all for the want of one emailed form!

I get top interest from UBank, with the convenience of a transaction account that tops itself up automatically from my savings, when required. I do not have to do anything as the account manages itself. Good for investment
Have been with Ubank for SMSF accounts many years and it gives us very good interest returns than anywhere else. Ubank is a internet based banking institute. This is the way they save money and return their profit to customers with higher interest rate for cash investment. Don't expect Ubank could do better transaction accounts than 5 majors. However if you have some ideal cash and you don't want to risk them in share market that is the place you should go,

Started great, but now there are some questionable additions
I have had a USaver for quite a few years now and set up an automatic savings plan and everything was going great until recently. The introduction of the USaver Ultra is not something I want, but if I want the extra interest I have to have one.
Basically the Ultra is linked to your other account as a transaction account with a card. Firstly, most people already have too many bank accounts, why would I want an unnecessary one.

moves money (sweeps) from your savings to transaction to top it up to a user set limit. It does appear that there is no way to turn it off. I was told the minimum balance was $100 so I have to keep $100 there doing nothing as I will not be using the forced transaction account. Just a special note to UBank. People DO NOT like things being out of their control or companies doing things without their knowledge. Look at the Apple fiasco with the U2 album. It wasn't the album people objected to, it was apple accessing their account and doing it without their knowledge. Doing it with money is even worse! I was not informed about the sweeping function and was shocked when i found my account had a different balance. This sweep system should be able to be opted out from. Not a good experience
Decided to open an online account for savings and to take advantage of good interest rates.
Unable to verify identity, website link was dead day after day. 3 days to respond to online question. Suggestion was to go to Post Office and take ID, then they would send to Ubank. Not exactly the online account i was expecting.
Then, website password stopped working for no good reason. Tried to reset password, was sent onetime SMS code. That didn't work. Repeated 7 times. Got in eventually, very slow.

I am a customer since more than 2 years now. Recently opened a Usaver ultra account. The debit card sent to me was already activated and was fraudulently used by someone else. It never reached me. But the bank has no answers. Disgusting...... The worst service a bank can offer in Australia. Should be banned....

Interest rates kept falling
Four years ago, I opened a UBANK account, that was quite a feat having to open over the phone ---- took ages, but interest started off better than any bank, gradually rates fell, so as it was such a hassle to actually speak to a person, I happily closed the account and got the same interest or more with one of the big banks, where is was given the very best financial advice re some money in long term accounts etc .it is so much easier just being able to pop into the bank and speak to a person straight. I am currently with ubank for my home loan and also tried using their transaction accounts.
Their customer service doesn't exist and i don't care about that. I don't need anyone to hold my hand, i'd rather do it myself online. However their website is the worst worst worst that you can possibly imagine. It doesn't work! Reasonable interest rate but just OK
I have been with UBank for a few years now. In the beginning their interest rates topped any other banks and then they started to fall below the others which caused me to move my funds elsewhere
Recently, since the introduction of UBank Ultra their interest rates became the best again. The only thing is that there are conditions to be met to get the bonus interest rate.

. This is odd as any other BPayments I do to other bank accounts are usually available next day. The other thing is that I can not generate an instant and up to date statement. Statements are issued every 6 Months which is quite a long time. With some other websites you can generate instant statements. If they could maintain a consistent higher interest rate and improve their website then I would give them more stars but at this stage I can only award 3 stars. Rates ok but their IT is a joke
The IT business analysts and programmers for what is an internet only bank are absolutely hopeless. Functions for anything other than simple transactions are not intuitive and often don't work. As another user has commented, a so-called upgrade introduces a new set of problems. When they create a problem, the responses by secure e-mail are generally not helpful and often put the onus back on you to fix it - absolutely sub-standard customer service. They seem to be able to generate multitudinous automatic e-mails to advise you of transactions but couldn't generate an e-mail to advise when an Automatic Savings Plan (ASP), which qualified you for a bonus interest rate, was about to cease. In summary, no understanding or empathy with what customers really want. The only positive is that the rates are usually competitive. I don't know what the others are like but if you can find a competitor that offers similar rates, I would chose them over UBank on the grounds taht dealing with them couldn't be as annoying as putting up with UBank's incompetence. Disgraceful
Kept getting emails about an account I apparently opened years and years ago. I've never used it so wanted to close it. Absolutely disgraceful that I cannot close my account without giving them account and BSB details from another bank. Absolutely zero chance of that happening. I guess the account stays open forever - what does that cost you UBank?

Painful process - if you need quick approval go elsewhere
I have preapproval already with Bankwest but because of Ubanks low interest rate thought I would give them an opportunity to get our business. application process ridiculous, mulitple uploads of documents required to their not very fast or easy to use website. When I called them, they still want more documents even though I told them they had the most up to date. Booked a scheduled call with them which didn't happen, had to chase them. Wasted hours of my time getting squillions of pages of documents for them which Bankwest didn't need. Use a broker - I will give up by this afternoon on Ubank.

Problem site.
Providing that they don't "improve" the site as they do periodically, it works OK. However, every year or so the site is closed for "improvements" with disastrous results. When the site was closed last year it took around six months and many lengthy phone conversations with UB staff to allow me to access my account without my changing my password. ill can't access my account to transfer money out of it. A friend had similar troubles with the bank, gave up trying to overcome the problem and closed his account in disgust. Overall very positive experience
I consider myself a very demanding customer & vigorously go after unscrupulous operators. I have been dealing with UBank USaver a/c for over a year now and I haven't had any problem in any aspect of operating my account. Been a Ubank customer for three months. All was going well until I actually needed to take some money out. Although Ubank had been more than willing to send me emails about promotions and XMAS gift vouchers over the last 3 months, they have been unable to send me an email to advise me that my account wasn't fully verified, therefore meaning that I could not transact on the account. This situation resulted in me having the pleasure (yes - I am being sarcastic) of dealing with the most unhelpful customer service I have received in a very long time (think back to the 90s and organisations like Telstra when they were government owned and that's the standard you get). Although very understanding (sarcastic again!), the supervisor referred me to their terms and conditions as to why my account was not fully operational. That's right - although their website has alert features and a notification window and although they seem to have an email capability within the organisation to send me promotional emails, they do not have the ability to notify me that my account is not fully functional over a 3 month period and have the audacity to hide behind their terms and conditions. Absolute disgrace - when I can actually get my money out, it will be all coming out and I will be going somewhere else. No gift card and frustrating process
Firstly, the gift card. Wow, it never arrived! I can't believe UBank is getting away with this. I don't trust Ubank anymore. I was eligible for the gift card for 3months now, and I am still having to call them up and fight for it. They keep telling me there is a delay, and one staff was extremely rude and even hung up on me. Customer service is really bad, and it's unfortunate because you will have to deal with them a lot to get things done right. I am not sure I will ever get that gift card now.

IT Department should be fired! - Useless - Cannot even resolve password issues
I experienced an issue with my password, it took several phone calls to the call centre over a period of 8 weeks to fix what is in the IT world, IT 101. Fortunately I was in no hurry to access the small amount I had deposited.
But no, those backroom boys at NAB could not even resolve the issue. I would strongly suggest that if anyone experiences this type of slack, non-responsive, service my advice is go to the top, ask to speak to a manager in the first instance because miracles of miracles within 2 days it was fixed. So NAB here is some advice. If you are going to back an operation like U-Bank, I strongly suggest that you hire IT staff that (A) Can demonstrate a high standard of customer service, and know what it means, not some pimple-never-had-anything-to-do-with-people-before geek (B) Demonstrate an understanding of how to attend to a customer-affecting matter within a 24 hour period and fix it now - not in 8 mins, 8 hours, 8 days or 8 weeks. When there is an issue and it is reported - fix it - stop asking customers to send screen dumps of what is happening that reveal nothing. Poor service and application approval takes too long!
Don't bother applying for a ubank loan. There's a reason why their interest rates are low, it's because they have poor customer service.
I applied for a. UBank loan in Sept-13. It's taken me 20 document uploads, a lot of proof of income and assets etc. it's now Nov-13, and they still haven't progressed my application to the next stage.
Each time they request more info, I upload more documents, it takes them a week before someone checks the documents...then asks for more supporting information.

Your UBank account access may get blocked easily
I was happy with UBank all along in the past few years until a few days ago when I rang for enquiry, the customer service guy suddenly blocked my account access since he did not trust I am the account holder simply because he thought my voice did not sound like in my age. I think it really does not make sense.

Good value but customer service could be improved
I've had a USaver account for a few years now. I have been happy with the interest rate and overall good quality savings account.
It has a helpful website. Signing up was extremely easy. The interest rate is great. The online facilities are comprehensive, allowing you to do most things you'd want.

ank has so far still provided the best rate. I have found that the online account management facility has errors every now and then. However, I haven't found the errors to affect my money or anything else significant. As others have implied, the customer service doesn't seem good. I generally don't communicate with UBank since the account can be managed online. However, when I have contacted the company, I haven't been provided with good service. I was typically treated as being at fault even though UBank was at fault. Whats the story with designating my Linked account as a Payee account? Of course its my linked account- Thats where the money came from. I send you a secure email to request information but no answer from YOU. I ring up and wait, and wait on the phone to talk to someone. Only to be told your Linked account is a payee account with a 20k withdrawl limit. I have to wait 10 Days for verification WTF. You make it so difficult to use this account with all your hidden tricks and inability to communicate with your customer. Worst bank Ive ever delt with and the online reviews confirm it.
