No Service When Things Go Wrong
Interest rates are competitive but when something goes wrong, there is no service. Unable to login to internet banking and also unable to reset password. Called the UBank number and gave up after not being able to get through in 15 minutes.

Loans?? WASTE OF TIME
Waste of time. They keep asking for more documentation..... 4 months of giving more and more documentation and now they want to redo the original documents as they are now older. They never read their own notes and keep asking for the same thing over and over again. Gave up on them and ended up paying for the service at another bank.. never looked back.

Can't Get My Money Out.
I moved overseas and as you would, changed phone numbers. I can no longer access my Telstra phone number to receive texts from Ubank to enter a code to transfer funds.
As I had already transferred funds from Ubank to my CBA account previously I naturally assumed I'd be able to do further transfers to the same known accounts without a text code (like I can from CBA to any previously paid account). With UBank you can't and you can't change your phone number to an overseas number nor can you change it to another Australian number over the phon...Read more
e (despite having my ID verified numerous times via security questions and being able to change my number over the phone at CBA). The only other standard option is to have the code delivered by mail to you registered address, which I no longer live at (super secure Ubank). There's one further option apparently - to go through an exceptions process, approved by their risk team, to transfer to a linked account. After setting up my linked account, I initiated the exceptions process 3 weeks ago (to transfer all of my funds to CBA - screw staying with Ubank). They said it would take 5-7 business days. It's been 18 business days and still there's no movement! Only after I mentioned that I'd have to go to the Banking Ombudsman did they escalate it and there has still been no response. My case is as simple and non risky as you can and there is simply no reason for Ubank to delay this long.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Worst banking experience in my life
Since the time I opened my bank account since 3 months ago, I have been having night mares with this bank.
1. First, I didn't get my ATM card for 2 months
2. I couldn't add a Linked Account. When I called customer care, the guy was extremely rude.
3. Finally, I found an alternate way to add a linked Account, now I cannot transfer the money out of the bank. When I reported the error to the support team, they came back saying it is an issue with browser, they can't help.
Now my money is stuck and I am unable to do anything with this bank. One of the worst banks I have come across. I am planning to close my account soon.

Don't bother trying
We tried to open a joint account on-line. Due to an IT issue at UBank's end the account could not be used. 4 weeks later UBank had still not fixed the problem. A UBank call centre staff member confirmed that there was nothing to prevent a new joint application being made while the first was still being fixed. Made a new joint on-line application and this time there was a problem with identity documents. There was no problem with the same identity documents with the first application. We wanted to open this account for the higher interest, but have given up and opened an on-line account with another bank without any problem. Ubank was just a waste of time.

For a Simple Savings Building Bank - UBank is perfect!
UBank provides awesome interest rates for savings accounts with features built around building your savings account — works best as a separate bank account from your main Bank to keep your savings safe from easily accessible bank with temptation!
Incredible helpful and professional support staff – instantly picked up when called at 12am. Peak time may be more busy, but expected. Like I said, this bank is best for a purely online bank where you don't really need to interact with the bank that much. For transactional (lots of in and out) bank services, definitely go with a bank with branches etc.

Great for simple savings accounts
I can only speak for the USaver account, which I have had for several years. The interest rate has decreased but at 2.31% currently it's still better than most I can see on the internet with a quick search. I have been able to deposit and withdraw money without hassle from this account. If I transfer money out of Ubank to my Bendigo Bank account, it can be in my statement account within a few hours, worst has been 3 days, but this is to be expected being different banks. I have been able to save really well with this account, and enjoy the onli...Read more
ne 'savings goals' tools. As this is purely a savings account, I don't need to get the money out really quickly, but I do know that the bank has frequent outages with their internet banking. This really needs to be addressed. Otherwise, I'll had good service with Ubank staff with secure email and over the phone.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Non-existing customer service, can't get my money out
I've been reasonably happy with UBank (if I don't count the buggy online bank) until I had to transfer a large sum of money for property purchase. UBank only allows $20,000 transfer per day, unless you have linked and verified the account you want to transfer to beforehand.
I had to either transfer in installments (settlement agent not impressed) or link my regular branch account with my UBank account (can take up to 2-3 business days) and then draw money out of my other account.
Customer service is non-existing. I tried to call a numbe...Read more
r of times and never got through. I do get replies to my secure messages but that happens within 48 hours, when I need an instant answer. *** EDIT *** I did manage to get my money on time and was assisted by a very helpful team at UBank eventually. They even followed it up by calling me, so my impression has improved a bit.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Can't access my own money
Moved to UBank beacuse of low interest rates on the homeloan and moved all my general banking along with the homeloan. Unfortunately there have been so many glitches I am forced to find a new bank.
Today I did a large shop of over $200 only to find my VISA debit card not working. Checked the account and there was sufficient funds. Upon calling the bank they advised that there was a bank wide issue with EFTPOS purchases so I was unable to purchase my shopping. They said they would email back to advise when fixed but it is two hours later and...Read more
I have had no email. Too bad if I had needed to access my money in an emergency. And too bad for the supermarket staff who had to return my $200 shop to the shelves. Last week I logged onto online banking to make a bpay payment only to find my $4000 balance reading $0. When I phoned the bank I was advised there was a bank wide glitch with internet banking showing $0 balances - but don't worry your money is still there. I just cant access it. It also bugs me that you have to log into a different banking system to access the homeloan - so much easier on Netbank where it's all on one page/log in. Yes it is cheaper than other banks in terms of interest payable on the loans and fees but not sure if it's worth it if you can't even access your money when it's needed.Similar opinion? Terrible-non-existent customer service
This is the worst online bank I have ever encountered. The website is often down--looks like they got their IT staff from Maccas. On-line chat is often unavailable and on the telephone staff range from could care less to officious and rude. Like others I wish I'd read the reviews first.

Happy Customer
I have been banking with Ubank for some years, having a Usaver account plus a number of completed term deposits. I must bank with a different Ubank to the majority of the forum as I have been able to call them on Skype and on the Voip phone without any difficulty. The only bank I know who allow both methods for ease and costs saving. I have found the staff helpful on most occasions. From my experience I recommend them to family and friends, with my grandson to start a term deposit shortly. They do take a few days to clear deposits however they pay interest from the day of receipt. They need to be conservative in these matters to enable them to pay the great rates available.

Terrible banking experience - I regret moving to UBank
I've just been told that it will be 4 weeks between opening my transactional banking account and getting my PIN. My card took two weeks to arrive. My first card and PIN were issued but never arrived (probably never sent because I've since been told my address was lost). My second card was received after 2 weeks (somehow to the correct address) but my PIN was issued afterwards and never sent. I was told that they lost my address is their data migration, which makes me very worried about the rest of my information. And clearly no-one at the bank ...Read more
picked up that they were issuing cards and PINs but never sending them even after I had to ring up and cancel my first card (because my postal address was blank). I asked how I know my data is secure and was told I could take their word for it (after they lost data in the migration!) or move banks! Their website is very average for an online only bank (and often down for maintenance). I regret having moved to UBank - I should have read the reviews before hand!2 comments

If you want a loan fast don't go with this guys
3 months since I applied and its still going, since requested documents are now out of date (more than 31 days old) I need to send again, including a new valuation on my property! You think you can set aside a whole day getting all the things they request to get it over and done with but they just keep asking for more and more things...only if they asked all at once its ok but it is not the case for what ever reason! They also initially tell you the amount you can loan then completely halve it once they hook you in and invested time and effort to get the loan approved. So if you want a loan fast they are not the way to go. Great rates if any consolation but that's about it.

Slow. Time wasters even for low risk. Bad process.
Ubank is terribly slow. Do not go with ubank. Their system is just so bad.
The staff are ok but if you are looking for a lender who can get the job done then don't waste time with these guys. My application is clean and highly serviceable. Low risk. Because of ubank I have missed out on am important auction. Wished I'd gone with another lender. Time wasters.

Very Poor Website!!
I'm amazed that an online only bank can survive with such a poor website - don't even think about joining unless you can put up with an online system that is more often than not slow, has many glitches and often crashes. I have online accounts with 5 different banks at the moment and Ubank is by far the worst!

Buggy online banking
Great concept but unfortunately the online banking tools are buggy and their technical support seem to be unable to resolve the issues. Beware of there system upgrades as they rely on the customers for testing. Standard process when reporting a bug is to blame your browser and tell you to clear your cookies. It is very difficult to convince them there is an issue and even when they accept the problem is with their system they continue to play the clear your cookies games with other customers on Facebook rather than just notify people.

Not happy
I opened a joint account over 3 weeks ago and still haven't received the debit cards. I tried to open the ultra saver linked account but the system keeps giving indecipherable errors. Sent them an email and apparently there was an issue with identifying my partner's identity but neither he or I have ever received an email, text or phone call telling us about this issue...
The website is not iPad nor user-friendly and the App is quite useless too.
I am giving up already and switching to ING...which is soo much better!

Good value so far
I have been a UBank customer for a few months now. I opened an account and regularly send money in from NAB. It was a couple of days initially before the funds would show but now it is on the day. The interest rate still seems to be the best I can find on the net. The only thing which I find annoying is the extra account you MUST have to secure the bonus interest. A: I don't want it. B: I don't use it. C: initially it was a $100 minimum to be kept in it with a 0% rate payable to you but it appears now it is a $500 minimum, so one can easily come to the conclusion that interest runs into UBanks own little nest egg for NAB.
Overall I am happy but I have a credit card I do not want.

I'd be out of here if I could get the same interest rate elsewhere
When I could not open my account with my password I contacted Ubank and after 3 attempts with the "customer service" person I was told you need to be computer savvy to use their system. She said my password hadn't been used for 12 months (wrong!) and therefore I couldn't use it as this was part of their security risk system. I don't seem to lacking in "computer savvy" with other internet banking systems I use nor have my passwords been deleted when not used regularly.

Hi
Whats the story with designating my Linked account as a Payee account? Of course its my linked account- Thats where the money came from. I send you a secure email to request information but no answer from YOU. I ring up and wait, and wait on the phone to talk to someone. Only to be told your Linked account is a payee account with a 20k withdrawl limit. I have to wait 10 Days for verification WTF. You make it so difficult to use this account with all your hidden tricks and inability to communicate with your customer. Worst bank Ive ever delt with and the online reviews confirm it.
