Piece of Junk
Bought new unit 5 months ago, and the hard drive has already buggered up. Making so much noise I cannot sleep at night so I have turned it off. I have tried to contact Uniden a few times, their service has been terrible and appauling. If you are looking to buy a security system for your home or office, do not even consider Uniden. I am regretting my decision already. Not to mention, even when it was working, their mobile phone app sucks. Not much useful either way.

don not buy from uniden
purchased their product and worked for 6 months on the app. After the upgrade the app, unable to view or even log in. Company states it my internet provider problem and not Uniden. Every review states the same. Everyone in the country can have bad internet providers.

Worst hard drive...what a piece of junk!
I bought this package from Jbhifi from Highpoint Shopping Centre. Less than a year and the recorder was playing up so I replaced it. I contacted Uniden and they wanted me to post it to them. That's $40 in Postage and Handling one way! I told the guy Justin Tong I'm not going to waste more money on a piece of junk that didn't work properly the week I had it installed! He sent me a program update. The first recorder didn't respond. This second recorder initiated the program but still records when it wants! Hell it's so frustrating! I've given up. Waste of money!

Great little cameras for good price
Purchased them out of one of the sales on JBhifi .It does come with DIY installation instructions. Only drawback that I could think of is that it needs to be hooked in to the ethernet (router) via cable. Apart from that it seems to be working fine.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! Buy something else.
So... bought this, installed it. Cameras are good - good quality, nice picture. Menu system is okay, bit clunky to use but okay. If you hook it up to your home internet, then you can view your camera feeds remotely using a Uniden mobile app.
There is no web based interface. So you can't monitor your home security from a web browser, you have to use an internet connected mobile device with a dedicated app.
HOWEVER... we bought this in large part because it's supposed to have motion detection. When I set it up, we found that motion ...Read more
sensor triggered ALL THE TIME. Literally 24/7, even when there is absolutely nothing moving in the frame. I have set the motion sensitivity at both extremes (1 out of 8 and 8 out of 8) and it still triggers 24/7 with nothing but a static picture of our back stairs. I contacted Uniden support about the sensitivity. This was what I got (cut and paste): "I have taken this matter up with the head technician who has indicated to me that this model is very sensitive for motion detection."2 comments

I was oh so close to buying a Uniden Security camera system, but now I'm not so sure. From all the reviews I'm getting mixed messages. Good, bad, OK? I prefer to have a system that records all the time (instead of using a sensor). What to do, what to do?

I have one of these systems, the way I understand it or the way mine is set up, its always recording, but it logs movement time date etc, onto the hard drive to enable easier searches of the hard drive. IE you look through the date and times when motion was detected, saves looking through all the footage - should be able to narrow down the time frames much easier. Hope this helps, I am having troubles with some video feeds though, often goinf to black & white transmission. Also sometimes may not replay recorded vision, takes its time often to play the required footage.
hope this helps.
Please don't buy this if you are still looking to buy. My harddrive has started to make a terrible buzzing, beeping noise at night (I bought this unit 5 months ago, brand new). I have contacted them on several occasions, the customer service is terrible. I have stopped using those because of the noise I cannot sleep at night, so its just sitting there as a dummy cam. Shame on you Uniden.

Update on my review - I basically stomped my feet with Uniden about being treated like an idiot (I have programmed hardware before and, though I have never done motion detection, I know exactly how it... Read more
would be done, and told them so - it would not be hard to fix this with a firmware update assuming the unit has a mechanism to deliver it). They have since offered me a free upgrade to a higher end unit, requiring me to send back my existing unit first. They are even allowing me to leave my video/power cables in place since I spent three days feeding them through the roof cavity and had to pull out some of the eaves to feed the cable. This is awfully nice, and will resolve my issue. However, I would have been equally as happy if they had said "we're working on a firmware update, can you wait 3 to 6 months?" That would resolve the issue for anyone who has bought/will buy this unit. So after a very poor start, they have come good (assuming my new unit arrives as promised).
