Hi Ronnie, thank you for your question. urineFREE is a bio-enzymatic product that uses bacteria to break down and consume uric acid (source of odour/stains). It does not disinfect the area but removes the stain and odour. If you want to sanitise the area we would recommend doing this after the urine stain and odour has been removed.

Hi, Yes urineFREE will also work on mouse and rat urine in order for the product to work it must come in contact with the urine deposits. If the celling material is plasterboard then just be mindful of not over saturating the area as this may cause the plasterboard to swell.

urineFREE will remove the uric acid (source of odour and stain) that would have been left behind by the urine deposits.

Please note that urineFREE is water-based and would do no more damage than water. However, water is no friend of leather as it can cause the leather to crack or peel.

If the stains are very old then it can be troublesome to completely remove them as the acid can cause burn marks on the surface, these kind of stains are not able to be reversed and would require re-upholstering.

If your main concern is related to the odour then you can try urineFREE as it will be a cheaper alternative to re-upholstering the lounge.

The amount of urineFREE needed will depend on the amount and age of urine and we are therefore not able to give an exact coverage amount per square foot.
For urineFREE to work it needs to get in contact with the urine deposits and if your tiles are untreated and has exposed grout you may need a second treatment due to the porosity of the surface causing the uric acid to be in the pores of the tile/grout. Hi, Not a silly question at all.
urineFREE will remove the uric acid buildups that are causing unpleasant smells from the synthetic grass. Normally if the dog continues to use the area there will constantly be uric acid deposited in to the surface and you would need to reapply urineFREE to get rid of the new urine deposits. If the dog is no longer using the area and urineFREE has removed all the uric acid then there should be no more odour as the uric acid has been removed.

Hi Jessica,

Thank you for your enquiry. This certainly is an industrial size problem. We had a gentleman in Victoria who purchased a property from a lady
that had about 50 cats. He was restricted from what he could do because the property was heritage listed. The smell was all over the house
and the carpets, floors and skirting boards were soaked in urine.

We advised him to replace any plasterboard as it is very absorbent and it is cheaper to replace. The hardboard floors and skirting boards could
be treated while the carpets needed to be pulled up. He used a lot of UrineFree ( 6-10 litres) and treated the affected areas two to three times.
After treatment he said there was no smell. He was happy with the results.

Each home will be different and what to keep and what to discard will depend on the circumstances. Let your nose be your judge. If you can't
smell urine you probably got it all. UrineFree must come into contact with all the urine to be 100% effective.

Good luck with the project. It will take a lot of work but the price of the property should reflect its condition.

urineFREE can defiantly be used on laundry before washing it in the machine.

We would recommend the following steps to remove the stains and odours:
1) Before putting stained clothing in laundry, saturate stain with urineFREE
2) Allow clothing to sit for a minimum of 20 minutes to allow urineFREE to breakdown the uric acid.
3) Saturate stain again with urineFREE, and then wash it through your washing machine.
4) If stains are older and have set in, repeat treatments could be necessary to thoroughly remove all stains.

Thank you for your enquiry. The amount of UrineFree your going to need depends on the amount of urine you have got.
If your Staffy has been urinating on the synthetic grass for twelve months there is a lot of urine in the grass.
The uric acid crystals deposited is not soluble in water therefore you will need UrineFree to come into contact with all the urine to be effective. Old urine may take two or three treatments to get it all. If you haven't already, we suggest you view the videos on applying UrineFree posted on our website www.urinefree.com.au.

We suggest purchasing a 10 litre container of UrineFree. Hopefully this will be enough. What you don't use you can use for on-going maintenance, that is, if the Staffy will continue to urinate there.

For best results, saturate all stained areas with urineFREE. Ensure the surface is wet enough to allow urineFREE to soak deeply into affected areas.

Allow to air dry. The biological removal of the urine deposits takes place during this drying time. This may be extended by the application of a non-porous cover such as plastic film for more effective results. Repeat entire process if necessary for particularly stubborn urine stains.

When dry, apply a small amount of water to the area and blot it up with a paper towel to remove the remaining residue.

NOTE: Never use cleaners, chemicals or deodorisers. These products tend to coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals (the source of the odours) and make it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate. If you have used these products, try to remove as much of the products as possible with water and a clean cloth. Blot and allow to dry and then apply urineFREE.

Urine consists of urea, urochrome and uric acid crystals. Some general cleaners can remove the water soluble components of urine (urea and urochrome) but leave behind the non-soluble uric acid crystals that retain the odour and stain. These crystals attach to surfaces and are very difficult to dislodge.

Stains are notoriously difficult to remove from hardwood surfaces. The black staining from urine exposure is common and is caused by the uric acid component of the urine that effectively creates a burn mark on the wood. Using urineFREE will cause the stain to go grey. Repeated applications will cause the stain to become a lighter grey. Once treatment is completed and all urine is removed, if the colours is unacceptable, sand back the board to its original colour and reseal. Please note that urineFREE will not penetrate sealed boards.

If chemicals or deodorisers have been used prior to using urineFREE then these need to be removed as they tend to coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals (the source of the odours) and make it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate. As you have used these products, try to remove as much of the products as possible with water and a clean cloth. Allow to dry and then apply urineFREE.

With regards to the bathroom it is possible that the odour is coming from the grout between the tiles. As the grout is porous urine and uric acid can be sitting below the clean surface and is emitting the odour. urineFREE will be able to seep in to the level where the urine has gone and remediate the source of the odour (uric acid) even thought it is old stains.

As for your carpets i have included our full instructions on how to remove old urine stains from carpets in general .

1. Saturate all stained areas with urineFREE. Do a colourfast test on a small area.

2. If the old urine has penetrated the underlay and sub-floor you need to pull back the carpet and treat those areas. If you can't pull back the carpet then you need to saturate the stain and bleed the urine to the surface and this may take several applications, time and enough product. NOTE: On the first application the stain may become darker and the odour greater as the urine reaches the surface. This is common. Repeated applications will see the stain become lighter and the odour eliminated.

3. Allow to air dry. The biological removal of the urine deposits takes place during this time. This may be extended by the application of a non-porous cover such as plastic film for more effective results. Repeat entire process if necessary for particularly stubborn stains.

4. When dry, apply a small amount of water to the area and blot it up with a paper towel. It is important to remove the residue as it is sticky.

NOTE: Never use cleaners, chemicals or deodorisers to remove urine stains and odours. These products tend to coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals (the source of the odours) and make it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate. If you have used these products, try to remove as much of the products as possible with water and a clean cloth rinsing under running water as you go. Blot and allow to dry and then apply urineFREE.

Old urine stains that have not been removed or not removed correctly will have greater exposure to the urine and the acidity of the uric acid crystals. Unfortunately in some carpets & rugs, especially wool blends, the uric acid crystals can cause burn marks that look like a stain but have actually discoloured the carpet/rug. Please note this is irreversible. urineFREE will remove the urine and in turn the urine smell but it can not remove burn marks.
