Wow, excellent machine
Works fantastic, and at approx. $100 cheaper than the Sunbeam VS7800, this is excellent value. Excellent even for marinating meat, chicken etc..... the marinade flavours really get drawn in to the meat. I'm throwing away far less food than I had previously such as bread and veggies. This machine will pay for itself in no time. Spare rolls and bags could be a little cheaper though. And it comes with 3 canisters adding extra value

LOVE IT -
I bought this and I love it, I especially like that you can seal without the vacuum, I use to seal bread and freeze. You can interrupt the vacuum, so it only seals a little and does not crush the bread
I had another brand before (Sunbeam food saver) but this one runs rings around it. Vac Pro has a double seal.

Great machine
I purchased this to help save space in the freezer after packing a side of beef and a whole lamb.
The job was too big and slow for this process.
However, it does do what it is supposed to do and that is to seal and remove air from the bag so that storage is to be maintained.
It is easy to use, the meat is kept perfectly and although as I have said the packing of large amounts of meat is hard and tedious, the smaller jobs are brilliant.

Not bad, but I upgraded to better model.
I'm updating this review to say I ended up giving this away and getting the next model up, the stainless steel version, model ALI-VAC2 which is better designed and a bit more robust, also more expensive.
You might have trouble finding either model, as Good Guys stopped selling them. If you find it, I would suggest getting the more expensive stainless steel model as it has a built-in roll holder rather than the flimsy attachment. Also the VAC2 model is slightly quieter than the VAC1, although any vacuum sealer is noisy for the few seconds it...Read more
operates. I've noticed Sunbeam are now in this game, so that might be another one to consider. Vacuum sealers are very useful for preserving food. You can do things like buy a huge box of cereal, then put half in the container and seal it. When you open it weeks later, it's like opening a fresh box of cereal. Same for any dried food like that, you can buy in bulk to save money and re-seal it. The containers are useful for sauces and other things to put in fridge. Pasta sauce for example, normally you'd need to use left-over sauce after a two or three days, the vac sealer gets you a few more days. That it sucksSimilar opinion? Can you use generic bags with this or do you have to purchase only ones that suit this brand?
