Bad news
Velocity member for ages and understood I could use my points for all sorts of things including flights. I have over 169,000 points and at the age of 70 thought I would treat myself and go fishing to Fiji and visit an old pilot mate of mine while I still can.
Try and renew points for fights (unlike Qantas Frequent Flyer points) and what happens, all flights are booked out but if you go to book and pay there are as many seats as you want and I am talking about months ahead! This status crap should be removed and make them honest.

From the beginning it is clear its a scam/joke
Do not bother.
I have never found it so hard to try and set up a card and even load the first few points onto the card.
Constantly redirects you to other pages with happy people smiling then back to the page you where just on.
I was getting extremely frustrated so i decided to check reviews and obviously its clear that its a waste of time.
How is such a big business getting away with something like this? where is the regulator?

Not great service
Been trying to use my points to get something from the online store but for the last 4 weeks its been "We are making improvements to the Velocity Rewards Store. Hold tight… we will be back soon." At this stage anything will be an improvement. Not great service in this day and age.

Won't allow you to spend points in the rewards store - Velocity points are useless...
I've been trying for 4 weeks to spend my velocity points. But the "Rewards store is constantly down". You get a message saying it is "temporarily out for maintenance" but its seems like its impossible to spend your points after 4 weeks of trying but getting the the same lame message. Its a scam.

Velocity Rewards scammed me for 10 years now - Points Virtually Unredeemable
For ten years I have saved up my velocity points.
I diligently accumulated the points by using my Velocity credit card and booking Virgin flights.
I estimate 10,000 to 50,000 credit card purchases over ten years (I estimate, between $100,000 to $200,000 in credit card purchases), watching my points gradually climb to over 600,000 Velocity Points.
I have just checked online on the Virgin Australia site the cost in velocity points for a flight Brisbane to LA on (say) 26 Oct, imagining after this ten years that I should easily be able to book ...Read more

Rewards booking treated like dirt
What a joke. Just turned up an hour before departure for my flight that I booked on points. There was a huge queue due to no self serve kiosks in operation. We were told to join the back of the queue after advising our flight time. As time ticked on, we listened for any announcements to pull us forward. Nothing. We finally asked and they took us to the front of queue, where we were asked if we were a staff booking or something, then told it was too late, flight had just closed, and didn't we hear the announcement? No, we heard nothing (despite ...Read more
listening intently), and there was definitely no staff member asking the queue as seems to be common in these situations. Apparently if more people came forward they could have stopped the plane, but not just for us lowly points redeemers. So tell me, is a points booking equivalent to being on standby?? Why else would they think we were a staff booking?? I would have expected the opposite - good treatment due to my loyalty to Virgin. Isn't that what loyalty is all about?? Thankfully I used all of my useless points for this booking, so I'm out, Virgin.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Horrible frequent flyer program with no eta on system fixes
I am a member of this crappy, horrible screwed up frequent flyer program. I collected 250k+ points over last 2 years and when I wanted to redeem the points their portal was down (end of June’18). I called the contact centre and they told me it will be available from 31/07/18 and I have waiting since then but their shopping portal is not running yet and they do not have any ETA. I called the contact centre to escalate this issue further and this cheap program by virgin airlines do not have any manager in contact centre to talk to. So basically t...Read more
hey are just apologising and not doing anything to resolve customers need or provide an estimate time when will their system will be available. I took the worst decision to opt for this frequent flyer program and transferred all my point from different credit cards and other program to velocity. It is the worst program ever with no concern for customers... I wish I could them negative.... anyone know if there is any ombudsman body for frequent flyers? Warning ——— do not join this horrible crappy program.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible
I wouldn't even rate them. I have called them 5 times have not got anywhere. You are limited to what you can book online so I don't see the point of having the points. If they book for your on the phone you will need to pay extra. The flights I wanted too book are not available on line . They are only when you call them. They won't call you back, and I asked if I get back points transferred back to my credit account and they wont do that. So now I am stuck with a service which I am not happy with and its been very time consuming

Useless / time wasting / extremely poor .... you get the gist
I registered due to some upcoming family flights. The application (on iPhone) is terrible as it doesn’t provide (or retain) important information pertaining to flights. The process to earn points via flights is so complex on initial registration (I am very IT savvy) that I ended up ringing them...and 60 minutes down the track they still got it wrong and short changed me. They made errors in responding to registration for my children (which they acknowledged when I rung them) but then didn’t credit some points anyway...or in case of my other ch...Read more
ild didn’t allow family pooling...due to delayed registration...which they confirmed was their mistake. What a crook of sh**t. Can’t compare with Qtas program since they are very much in a different league...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Robbed my points just before upgrading to silver
Over 200 status credit points were gone missing from my account just before upgrading to SILVER, I put in inquiries for the explanation for why the points were gone missing when I didn’t even redeem anything. I never heard back from them. Now I feel like I should’ve gone with quants points instead.. very very disappointing experience!

Put these people out of business QUICKLY! - Any classification above worse than TERRIBLE?
We accrued a number of flights and lodged the details with these people via the website within the time frame required.................It turns out they "cherry-picked" which flights were eligible to claim the reward points.
When I called the call centre (located in Manilla out of the jurisdiction of Australian and N.Z laws) I was told one of the flights, - coincidently the longest one, was not eligible to claim.
There was nothing on the website about any destination being ineligible to claim. The destination; just over a 3 hour flight ...Read more
and approx 2500 klms in distance and duration so there would be a significant number of points involved. When I loaded the details into the website nothing came up saying the destination was ineligible leading me to believe the flight fitted into the criteria and it was acceptable to claim the points. After a couple of weeks I checked my account and the flights were not credited - I have been scammed! It took me about 10 minutes to find a phone number on the website to then go through endless......press 1 for..... and 2 for...etc... before I spoke with a REAL person.Similar opinion? ROBBERRY
I was robbed off my points when I redeemed it for BP petrol! Also got locked out of my account at the BP petrol station 3 times! Got tricked into transferring my flybuys points to velocity flybuys by repeating emails to me.

Waste of time
Supposedly I have Silver status for the last 2 years. Have travelled at least 15 tunes during this time and never given access to the lounges. They always find a different excuse to deny entry. Get barely any benefits in free flights (Qantas much much better). From now on will focus on just accumulating Qantas miles. At least they don’t over promise and under deliver.

Velocity frequent flyer is a scam
I use my velocity frequent flyer at BP service stations. Went to use this card to redeem acquired points, put in my pin and said it was incorrect and i know it was correct. So i got locked out after two incorrect goes. Got an email and went unlock it and said the answer to the security question was wrong and i know it was correct. So got locked out for 24hrs. Biggest scam card ever.

Used to be worth collecting - Not anymore
I remember cashing in about 25000 points and getting a return flight Brisbane to Auckland for about $120 (from memory so I might be wrong) and the current deal is one way from Sydney 17800 +$122... Why even bother anymore? There's no incentive to collect and redeem anymore and look at the number of low ratings on here. I stupidly transferred 10000 Flybuys recently for a measly 4350 Velocity points, which I believe was a complete waste considering the Flybuys were worth about $50 yet the Velocity points I received look to be worth far less... Won't be making that mistake again... I used to really like this program, shame it's not even half the rewards program it once proudly was.

Platinum member but no bassinet for my infant when travelling
First long haul flight booked to USA and first time travelling with my infant daughter. Called to book a bassinet for both flights only to be told they had been booked out 6 months before I was due to travel.
Disappointing my platinum status can’t secure me a bassinet and I will have to hold my daughter for the 14 hour duration there and back.
Was told to call back every few weeks incase something changes.... not good enough really.

Point credits take forever
I was Platinum with Qantas and decided to give Virgin Velocity a try but to have points credited is incredibly bad. Domestic flights take a week or so to be credited at best and partner airlines, well I flew to London 3 months ago and they are still looking in to it. Crazy part is, I will be Platinum when they eventually credit me which would afford me some benefits. I am flying OS in 6 weeks and wont be flying with Virgin!!! What a waste of time.

Flybuys vs Velocity points
Am I missing something? I keep getting email offers to transfer my Flybuys points to Velocity points. 20,000 flybuys points gets me 100 bucks shopping voucher. 18000 velocity points gets me 100 bucks shopping voucher. 2000 flybuys gets me 870 velocity points? Offer is 20% bonus on points transfer, so even taking the bonus into account, aren’t I still getting ripped off? I just don’t get it

The simplest way would be to click on an 'unsubscribe' link on one of the many numerous emails they send you.
They truly are an awful company. I filled up at BP three times and have NEVER received any points for them. No wonder BP are dropping them in 2020.
Ive tried that no luck
