I have never bought a vertex standard vx426 though I have heard great things about them though I did buy a vertex standard waterproof vx456 / I found the radio to be superior to most uhf radios not to mention they built it to military standards 810 c, d, e, f and g and they back up vertex standard by a massive 3 year warranty so basically buying a vertex standard radio someone can't go wrong if they want to buy a reasonable radio at a reasonable price / the radio if it's treated too rough should provide years of trouble free service
